Such a shame that those are basically impossible to find in my country. That pack would be awesome to collect.
I don't think the hardware itself is going to be a issue. Because they are at the end of the day PC games. Meaning that they will have scalability in mind. So at the worst case scenario people will just have to drop the settings down or go from 60fps to 30fps to keep on playing. However we might run a issue with software like with the new direct storage from Microsoft. As that is probably not covered by the Proton. But only time will tell about that one.
The bit about ...
Well the ball is with Microsoft on this one. Without them actually making a Linux version of the service or at least making a Steam version of it. That wouldn't be possible right out of the box.
At least the download part. The streaming will probably work no problems.
Probably yes.
Because you can already do that with a normal PC.
No?
Given how Valve deals with hardware. It's very likely that it was never supposed to compete with consoles given how limited the hardware supply will be.
I mean the Wii U had Nintendo Games as well though.... Actually a good chunk of the Switch's Nintendo Games were originally Wii U games.
So I would go with a "no" to that. The form factor and what the Switch provide as a hardware do made a big difference in it's sales. That said I don't see the Steam Deck as direct competition to the Switch as it is primarily a PC.
There are already a couple of options in the market. Devices like the GPD Win, AYA NEO, ONE XPLAYER and the OneGx1 are already on the market. What it needed though is a big player that can achieve that form factor for a reasonable price and Valve is provided that.
"I don't get why anyone would support apple on this. Not saying you have to like Epic, but why would you want a $1200 piece of hardware that can only run what Apple says it can run?"
I think that is a big part as to why so many people choose apple though.
I'm a Android guy myself and I really like to tinker with my phones (custom roms, fw, etc.) but the argument that I often see as to why Apple shouldn't lose. Is that the moment that...
@DJStotty
Ok, how would "dedicated hardware" for Xcloud, be cheaper or better, than me running it on my tablet, PC or Xbox One?
Being cheaper is actually a pretty easy task. The current cheapest mobile phone with support for 5G is going $250. By making a dedicated hardware for XCloud Microsoft can cut all the things that are useless for cloud gaming, for example camera modules, big storage space, huge amounts of ran, etc. Making it possible to g...
@DJStotty
Because it's an extremely cheap way to allow people to enter the Xbox ecosystem while offering a better experience than what they would get on a non-dedicated system. It is a very simple concept really.
Sure they shouldn't stop what they are currently doing in making it compatibile with anything under the sun. However a truly dedicated machine for it would make the whole experience much better while being a cheap point of entry for thos...
If by that you mean literally taking the current Series S and just slapping a 1080p screen on top of it. Just like this kickstarter is promising to do. Then yes it's doable to make a $400 "portable" Xbox Series S as long as they mass produce the screen.
However to make a Xbox in the style of a Switch. In other words a truly portable console. Then having a $400 as MSRP is utterly impossible. The 100 W TDP of the Series S already make it impracticable to port it...
@OptimusDK
Sorry, I don't get your point. Switch OLED is current the most expensive handheld from a big company going for $349. However a portable Xbox Series would probably retail for at least the same price as the Series X that have a MSRP of $500. While likely being weaker than a Series S because of the thermal and power constraints of the format.
And that is me still lowballing it as the final price would likely be even higher when we take into ac...
Yeah, it's actually a bit weird that so many games that where present in the N64 can now legally be played on the Xbox Series. As long as the user make do with remasters and the Rare Replay collection.
While at the same time thanks to the developer mode. The consoles can also play a plethora of legacy content from other consoles. Anything up to the GameCube + DS and PSP is pretty good on the platform. While PS2 and Wii do have their issues, but also offer a bunch of pl...
I don't see that happening because of the pricing issue with a portable device that can run Xbox games natively. Even if Microsoft sold it at a loss. I can't see it going for less than what the Series X retails for and at the price point the market would just not be there.
However one thing that they could and should do is a Xbox GamePass Cloud based system. It wouldn't need to be much powerful as long as it offer support to Wi-fi 5Ghz and maybe a version with 5...
There was definitely people expecting a 4K ready Switch with the help of DLS. And while that was inherit an impossibility because of what the mobile market have to offer an the nature of a DLS implementation.Having a upgraded Switch model would not be too much to ask. A better thermal solution for example would already allow the current Switch hardware to work on the X1 Stock clocks and that alone would give the console a slightly boost in performance. And the same goes for the amount of inte...
I will just say that I find interesting that for you. Hypothesize about the sample size used in a percentage based analysis is not relevant. But trying to figure out which companies model is more profitable for a third party is.
It was. However that power was also one of its main problems.
I have to disagree. The upgrade is so little for the extra money that I don't see anyone that was on the fence about the console making the plunge for this model. If anything I could see it appealing more to owners of the OG Switch or the Switch Lite. As the first are probably suffering with the low battery life of the original model while the latter would make use of the OLED screen as they play primarily undocked.
You and the people that only own a Switch Lite are the public that I feel this would appeal more to. As you guys do have a OG model so the difference in screen will be apparent and it is a upgrade. Even if a small one.
Though I would wait a little before buying one if I was you. Because Nintendo did cut a lot of corners with the Switch already - low speed internal memory, below limit RAM, inadequate thermal solution, joy con drift, etc. So I wouldn't be surprised if th...
I think that is kind of the point of this device. A cool oddity that you will play for a few hours and let it sit in your collection.
