That's a bold headline that highlights how Sony and Microsoft are differentiating themselves with their product offerings. According to the reporter Christopher Dring Microsoft wants to be the Netflix offering an all-you-can-eat buffet of variety, whilst Sony wants to offer a lot less but it for it's games to be premium. Both visions have merit.
It's interesting to read the Take Two CEO's views on this because there has been a lot of chat from all the heads of these subscription services that paints a picture that this subscription business model will be the only way forward for gaming. Obviously Strauss Zelnick leads a major publisher so his views are informed and have weight that perhaps, the subscription promised land might not be the primary way we access games. Time will tell.
Like all men I want inverted controls to stay set for me through every game.
If you're not a real man then please feel free to hit the downvote button. ; )
@Elda $229 for the backpack, bloody hell! I can get something similar from my local Argos for £9.99.
I went back and saw something even more interesting, the 'PlayStation™ Inspired Ski Suit.' Bargain for $349.95!
I'm really looking forward to playing my PS5 but I don't think I want to go out dressed in all that get up!
I quite like the backpack.

That's a spectacular improvement. God of War 1 & 2 with the whole Greek mythos and rage of Kratos are two of my favourite games but obviously they are dated. I recently played a bit of the GOWII remaster on PS3 and it's still great. But this 4K boost and raytracing is lovely. It would be great if Sony could find a way to boost their old classics like this.
I honestly understand that it can be really frustrating when everyone in your hobby is discussing next-gen consoles and you can’t get hold of one you would feel left out of the conversation. But in 2020 if this is the worst of your worries than things really aren’t so bad. You can still be a part of it all in the same way we are now, watch more YouTube, participate more in online chat and your time will come.
The headline doesn't take account of the digital sales as the article says "Ubisoft's Watch Dogs Legion was the big game of the week, but it had to settle for No.2 in the charts behind FIFA 21. Physical game sales are 54% lower at launch compared with what Watch Dogs 2 managed in 2016. However, digital downloading has accelerated rapidly since 2016, and we won't know the digital performance until later in the week."
There was no chance that it could be...
The normally cynical owner of Digital Foundry, Richard Leadbetter, is stunned by the new experience of the DualSense on PlayStation 5. He says:
“It is a revolution, I’ve never felt anything like it. My only concern is that it will become overused to the point that it will become obnoxious. But in Astro Bot right now it feels fresh and exciting… Here, when the audio is matched with the haptics the experience is elevated and the whole thing is unlike anything I’ve experienced...
I've been saying this for over a year and Sony have even said this. 2021 is going to be about getting out as many PS5s out into the market as possible to grow the install base. But these comments are interesting suggesting a Christmas 2022 release. Also, Jim Ryan didn't just say our next VR product he said "the FUTURE of VR" this mean he feels confident that it could offer something new for VR! I'd like to know what!
I'll be happy with it if it does stay blue! I remember the PS4 console reveal with the blue light and it looked great, and it does on boot up - but it doesn't stay blue!
Good to see a third-party supporting the Haptics on the DualSense. "Haptic controls: From the satisfying feeling of firing your boltcaster, to the gentle nudge of a building part slotting into place in a space habitat or the firm click of the trigger in your interstellar ship – haptic controls allow players to feel immersed in an alien world as never before."

A really good ad that shares DNA with some of the best of classic PlayStation adverts. And Travis Scott works great as the narrator.
Judging by the early feedback it seems Jim Ryan wasn't overstating it when he talked about the next-gen experience of the DualSense on PS5. Hopefully, many developers see what can be achieved in Astro's Playroom and implement support into their own games.
Watch Dogs Legion, Assassin's Creed Valhalla, Immortals Fenyx Rising and Far Cry 6 are listed for Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 as 4K 60fps.
It also says that WD on Series X "you can take full advantage of faster loading speeds for more play time, and a smoother and more powerful experience."
For PS5 it says "PS5 players can immerse themselves in the stunning open world with the power of the Tempest 3D Audio Engine to hear the environ...
It’s for the best. Come February almost all PS5 owners will give it a chance.
How old is Fenix meant to be in Gears 5?
That's what I like to hear!
I wonder what patch we'll hear about on Monday.
@OptimusDK. I know you're trolling for laughs, but just in case you genuinely don't understand the difference here goes:
When Microsoft led by Don Mattrick first revealed the Xbox One instead of highlighting its gaming qualities the focus was instead on TV, this is because his vision for Xbox was that it should be a multimedia hub that prioritised TV services and that's why the whole conference was dominated by references to TV. Ultimately his vision was misguid...
@ArchangelMike. That's when the next roadmap is released.
