Especially, a ridiculously overpriced toy that isn't showing its worth on paper.
Ever since SNES Nintendo has been kind of greedy as all $#!7.
Brazil's tarrifs forced PlayStation to make a plant in Brazil. The same might happen in the US. Supposedly, this same kind of reciprocal 'tariff warfare' was started in Brazil against the world resulting in this kind of short term pain that prompted PS to expand production operations. Brazil must have a big gaming market.
These tariffs have nothing to do with Switch 2's pricing anywhere. America that one country accounts for more than 33% of Nintendo's global market as of https://www.nintendo.co.jp/... (it's the 2nd XLS document) for both lifetime HW and SW sales. Cutting off the US market is a complete non-starter for Nintendo and Switch 2.
While the pre-order delays imposed by Nin...
Remember, who you voted for in the US doesn't impact the decisions for global pricing of individual products made by a company in an unrelated foreign nation.
I know it's harder to remember more than 3 words, but that's the truth. Additionally, these tariffs will negatively impact Nintendo come launch day unless they decide to skip the US entirely which would likely be even more crippling to their bottom line as the US is their largest market.
@ppm1100
Which company made the APU in the Switch 2 again? Was that Nvidia? Oh, right, it was, and where is Nvidia located? Ah, yes, Nvidia was founded and is still headquarted in the US. Strange how little you know.
The first CPUs were invented in the USA as well with IBM made the first 2nm chips in the US back in 2021. Intel still makes CPUs in America, while Nvidia is just a chip designer they have no in-house st party fabrication plants anywhere. Even so withou...
Couple of years? PSP Ad-Hoc allowed people who don't own the game you are playing to download portions so that games could be played in local multi-player. That was nearly 2 decades ago. You could always just share software or passwords and activate 5 devices with one account for digital games. Nothing in the ToS back then said you couldn't allow friends to use your PSN account. Gamesharing has been the norm for many decades on PS, Steam, and Xbox for multiple decades with many differ...
So why did the head of the ESA bring up Switch 2's price? Hm... well that was exactly my point; it's not relevant. Nintendo choose to make Switch 2 expensive, not Trump. People getting upset about these tariffs before they were implemented was ridiculous and this article only poses the same questions even expounding on how little they know only speculating how this could affect the industry because many games are also made here in the US. These tariffs will have pricing impacts and th...
So the only way you have extra storage is if you are docked... How does that help you when you are undocked?
The same strategy Apple is using at this point.
Yeah, actually it is. See you get a better version of the game plus DualSense features on a system that might be more ergonomic and lightweight with a better battery life when playing the same game with much better visual fidelity and fluidity. Latency might also be lower on PS Portal than playing natively on Switch 2, depending on the game of course.
For the price Nintendo is making Switch 2 an easy skip. That isn't good.
@Profchaos
My phone also has hardware accelerated raytracing. What games use it? World of Tanks and what else? Basically nothing. What Switch 2 games feature any kind of RT?
Has the ESA also lost the plot? Last I checked Nintendo doesn't make anything in the US, but Switch 2 and its games are expensive everywhere except allegedly in Japan. Assumimg the proce scheme in Japan is real, perhaps Nintendo believes they can make bank on the rest of the world?
Whatever, the point is that Switch 2 and it's games aren't expensive because of the evil orange man and that makes actual economic sense considering the fact that nations with no logi...
@wesnytsfs (& to a lesser extent thorstein)
Mindphyx77822 wrote that he would need to spend "20 ***CDN***" for an in-game microtransaction.
What do we know about American currency?
I have three letters fir you, "USD."
This guy isn't an American, he didn't vote for Trump, I don't know which way the user leans nor do I care, but when you are talking about people not being able to understand what they read, it's probably...
Sense made: 0%
Just lowering the price is much smarter. They exited the home console space because they couldn't compete on power and where would their controller be without the Switch's unique form-factor anyway? Almost no games even use the Switch's unique controller features of which very few are exclusive to Nintendo.
Microsoft is doing a great job showing why Game Pass will never be the way by removing support for billions of mobile devices in the blink of an eye. Sorry, Nintendo doing things very wrong doesn't make Microsoft's wrong less of an issue in the slightest.
Do you think it cost more to make Mario Kart World, and Donkey Kong: Bananza than Astro Bot? The problem is that the former Nintendo games cost way more than the latter game on the better system that will play all 3rd party games better. You will only miss Nintendo 1st party games if you-re pining for those to start with. If not there is no reason to jump into Nintendo's ecosystem. There is an incentive to make the leap to PS since Xbox is dead and PC is even more expensive than Nintendo....
That's really cool. I chickened out on my Steam Deck reservation. Steam got their minimum cut because I didn't cancel.
@all in this subthread on NVMe storage
The smallest high speed NVMe drives still need cooling and the Switch 2 is too thin to accommodate them. Physics is likely why Nintendo's engineers decided against the smallest NVMe drives, which are times thicker than the substituted MicroSD Express cards, which the bay its inserted into, may have an adequate cooling solution for.
The idea that Nintendo omitted NVMe storage to be greedy, is one issue I can't...
