Most mobile players probably use controllers and some smartphones also allow a 60FPS update which is precisely why this is being blocked by EPIC between Switch and PC/other consoles...
As cellphones only get more powerful you can assume that crossplay on Switch in Fortnite will die off completely if the bug isn't resolved...

Way back in 2002... Between PS2 and PC with FFXII and many other games followed suit then on PS3 there were even more titles. Perhaps Portal 2 would've allowed crossplay, but it's possible MS blocked it.
Sony was already the established market leader when PS2 started crossplay, so that "2nd place begs" argument doesn't work here either... >_<

You either have crossplay or you don't. This half-hearted approach is bad and doesn't remedy the issues Switch players face if they so choose to disadvantage themselves.
