TenCent is allowed to buy everything else now... oh my bad that's not okay but MS with their history of destroying everything they tounch... major win for the industry.
When this f•••• your hobby up good you'll be crying and we'll have moved on to something else.
HDDs move dozens of MB/s.
PS5 can move 5GB/s without any compression.
To utilize GPU depression with Direct Storage 1.2 you need a really modern RTX 30 or 40 series GPU lest you fallback to far slower CPU decompression and all of that only to mask HDD seek times which of course are not actually disappearing at all. Probably why the games minimum specs include HDD running the.game at 720p30 with "Very Low" (presumably the lowest) game settings.

2 years and 1 month. Apparently R&C:RA launched June 11th 2021 for PS5.
Exactly if Direct Storage 1.2 were this kind of magic bullet MS wouldn't shut up about it...
Seeing as how a deleted blog post is the only thing we've yet to hear about DS 1.2, it's probably not THAT great?
12 days as of your post and 10 as of mine... less than 2 weeks.
@jwillj2k4
It's actually worse than these articles let on... by a lot!
If people are expecting this game to run at 60FPS in 4K with RT and everything without any visual bugs on PCs using an HDD as well as it runs on PS5 using the PS5's internal storage or an NVMe drive... they're going to be disappointed. This game still needs an SSD or NVMe drive to run well and to run fast even if you have an RTX 30 or 40 series GPU and cutting-edge CPU.
Indeed. You need an RTX 2000 or 3000 series GPU to leverage GPU decompression to start with or a killer CPU 12 Gen Intel chipset to make CPU decompression fast and its still recommended to play at the lowest settings and resolution if your using a spinning hard disk drive all happening over 2 years after the game originally released on console.
The hyperbole wasn't hyperbole at all! PS5 has a 4K60 no RT mode in this game... a 60FPS RT mode and a 30FPS fidelity mode with...
@RaidenBlack
Is reading comprehension this much of an issue for you?
"For Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart on PC we added adaptive streaming based on live measurement of the available hardware bandwidth. This allows us to tailor the texture streaming strategy for the best possible texture streaming on any configuration. With DirectStorage, the use of a fast NVMe SSD and GPU decompression, this results in very responsive texture streaming even at the highest settings.

If the HS is such trash... why the investigation to get it to work on PC?
Was this a thing for PSVR? No... hmm, I wonder why? Oh no I don't I KNOW WHY. PSVR was not considered a good HS and therefore no one saw any need to make any PC compatible with PSVR, but the PSVR2 HS is phenomenal and half the price of other COMPARABLY SPECED PCVR HSs so of course there's a rush on trying to make the device work on PC.
PC guys don't want to pay over $1,000 for a g...
PS could go after these people, but I don't think they will. It's not about the peripheral as much as it is about the games and those PSVR2 don't work well on PC... actually none work at all. So PS has no real reason to go after the people that want to make PSVR2 compatible with PC. Additionally no real (read Official) PC support for PSVR2 means no dev will make PSVR2 compatible PC games meaning its up to modders and the HW's own capabilities to make mods that allow people to ...
"I was at the doctors this week getting three back MRIs and one brain MRI, my trusty old vita came through in the clutch because since the radiology department have such sensitive equipment I couldn’t listen to music because of Wi-Fi blockage."
Sorry to hear about your health troubles... not sure how Project Q would help you here though seeing as how it is said that it's a streaming device... so Wi-Fi is a requirement. If you can't listen to music which can come in ...
If it has the memory to store small PS games like those for PS1 and PS2 that could be a serious boon... then again it would be ripe for exploitation and PS definitely does not want that... I personally expect this to be a remote control and nothing more.
If you enjoy playing videogames, you would be an idiot not to choose a side here. PS has a proven trackrecord of delivering while Xbox is like the child that is bumped up from grade to grade eventually being graduated because the teachers simply didn't want to deal with that student anymore.
Xbox (2001) was second place mostly because of Halo: Combat Evolved, but also because of a massive marketing push and the fact that the GameCube was just such a weird system and at ...
@King-Noctis
They didn't, PS bought Bungie.
Since PS5 was announced PS acquired Insomniac Games, BluePoint, Housemarque, Haven, FireSprite and of course most notably Bungie. Since PS5's announcement there were 2 studio closures within PS Studio Japan and Pixel Opus.
That's five individual studios in 3 years being rolled into PS with two closures and one new studio being built in-house (Team Asobi), but for some reason everyone wants to treat PS...
@ThinkThink
Ever wondered why Xbox is so similar to PS all the way down to the gamepad?
Microsoft jumped into the console market explicitly to kick PlayStation out, Bill Gates saw PS2 as a massive threat to MS' true intentions to own the living room. Xbox (2001) failed to fo it "Jump in" was the Xbox 360's slogan and talk about finally dominating the living room was at the heart of the Xbox One's unveiling.

"...net revenue..."
Ok there buddy now it's time to crack open the dictionary and define "revenue".
Revenue (noun): the total income produced by a given source
Now I will do the same for "profit".
Profit (noun): gain in excess of expenditures: as the excess of the selling price of goods over their cost
With that in mind we're going to take a look at this GameSpot article from Feb ...
The latter by the sounds of things.
I have no official confirmation of that, it's just an educated opinion.
It makes perfect sense when planets end up just being a flat small map.
This is starting to sound like a slow and boring version of Ratchet & Clank.
Supposedly the Japanese wouldn't allow it... unless MS says they'll pull out and f••• their internet infrastructure... Japan will fold easily under those conditions and the Xbots will rejoice as MS wields its money hammer to destroy not just gaming, but everything. Don't worry though they'll still remember to call any gamer with an affinity for anything over Xbox a deluded, toxic fanboy.
