Don't worry, Sony has us covered with new IPs and they're not going to stop creating and innovating. There's nothing wrong with revisiting existing franchises and ideas so long as that doesn't get in the way of new ideas, but with Sony there's no danger of that.
While I actually admire Sony and their first party studios for taking risks, branching out and creating new IPs periodically rather than just relying on franchises to boost sales, I do agree that there are some great games and series from the past that I'd like to see return. A new Toyko Jungle would be lit. Life of Black Tiger is not a good alternative.
Is that a serious question or a rhetorical one for clicks? In the former case, I'd suggest doing better research, and in the latter case you're just proving why games journalism doesn't have the best reputation.
Tell that to those who are convinced that Sony will somehow self-destruct due to MS's recent acquisitions. Fanboys gonna fanboy. For the rest of us, bring on the PS exclusives!
You kind of walked into this one, but that ain't it chief.
No, MS needs to use their studios. Going off of quantity alone, you'd think even as of last gen MS's first party output would be similar to Sony's. It wasn't. They can buy up all the studios they want, but games only come if they actually put them to use. It's not just that Sony has great studios that has provided them with so many great exclusives. It's that Sony actually uses those studios. If MS were to do the same, they could bring some serious competition.
Will it have its share of awesome exclusives? Most likely, and that's the number one thing I care about.
Let's agree that every company has some skeletons in its closet. The difference is, Nintendo fans give them a free pass on theirs. At the end of the day, Sony has done far less that has irked me than the competition has, especially in recent years.
Agreed. Sure, they can, but they don’t need to. All their great first party titles will still keep coming regardless. Also, I’ll be more impressed by MS’s most recent acquisition when I see the games and they prove to be better than what Sony first party studios produce. Until then, I say “meh”.
I’m guessing they will keep captaining a ship that isn’t sinking. MS still has their work cut out for them even with their recent acquisition. Sony will do just fine.
Well, I certainly didn't know how to be held at banana point and actually give in to the demands of such a laughable lunatic until I played Job Simulator.
Says someone who clearly doesn’t understand why the Switch has the kind of appeal that it does.
Marks for trying, I guess...
Awww. I love when companies do stuff like this.
Well, it shouldn’t be that hard to sell more than the pitiful number Xbox has been selling there. Let’s see where the XSX/XSS is at in a year in Japan. I’m betting it will be back to XB1 figures.
I have a 80G PS3 with B/C. I wish it didn't die on me, but I still technically have it. One day I'll get that repaired along with my PS2 that can't read discs. Actually...by the sound of things it might be easier to get the PS2 repaired.
If I had to choose, yeah, I prefer Sony's strategy because I buy new systems for new games. However, I'd love to be able to enjoy more of the classics than has been available on my current systems of choice. The difference is, it's more just something that would be nice with PlayStation, as it has us covered for current games. Xbox is probably going to keep struggling in that regard even with their Bethesda acquisition, so of course they're going to double down on past game...
Well, with all those mornings when I got up to snag Limited Run collector's editions, I have experience with this sort of thing. That said, I'm choosing to stay out of it and grab some popcorn while I wait for the hype to die down. I want a PS5, and I will get one some months down the road, but I really don't need to rush to get one. Also, 13 Sentinels Aigis Rim and Super Mario 3D All Stars drained a good deal of my budget this month...so count yourselves lucky that I'm a t...
I will always choose the SKU that gives me more options over one that is essentially a commitment to never, ever buy games of a certain format. I may buy some of my games digitally, but that doesn't mean I don't like having the option for physical.
I agree that the collection leaves a lot to be desired, especially in terms of extras. But, it's a collection of games that are nice to have on the Switch, so...I can't fault it too much.
