The Switch Joycons have motion control, and for handheld mode and the Lite, the touchscreen can be used. Nintendo has confirmed this, so that's one thing they haven't screwed up with this collection at least.

I really don't like modern Nintendo nearly as much as past Nintendo. I can forgive the exclusion of Galaxy 2, even if it's beyond disappointing, as I can see it being something they release at a later date, but making this a limited release is just plain anti-consumer.

These appear to be straight ports too with few extras, and we're not getting the DS version of SM64, but TBH, I'm used to Nintendo not going above and beyond and charging extra for ports. I&...

Sure, why not? I won't say no to more heroes, especially if they pick awesome ones like Blade. But, maybe they can be added for their own merits, and not to check off some box?

At least it won't come with a side of irony that they're actually removing a reference to Black History like with the recent announcement that Splash Mountain will be changed into a Princess and the Frog themed ride.

Would changing semantics change the agenda? Would people not be astute enough to notice that the more heroes being added have a certain characteristic if it wasn't mentioned otherwise?

Hopefully Blade would fare better in a game than in the comics where he at one point ended up in some alternate universe where he fought a vampire Howard the Duck. Yeah, that really happened. I wish I was making that up. I think that was a good five years ago, mind you. I haven't read comics in a long time.

Obviously the "clever" twist will be that Bruce Wayne "killed" Batman. There will also likely be the twist that he didn't really die afterall. Note, I use air quotes around the word clever because none of that would be unexpected. I'll be pleasantly surprised if this game's narrative manages to surprise me by going in a different direction than I just outlined.

Maybe "completely original" is the wrong term here, but I'm sure the narrative will steer in a different direction than the comics. Whether it ends up being a good narrative or not is another thing entirely, and I have my reservations about it, but I'm sure much like with the Arkham series before it, this game's story will be distinct enough.

If given a choice, I'll always choose the version of a console that provides more options, so an all-digital console isn't for me. Thankfully the PS5 will have a regular edition that comes with a disc drive too.

You're worried about them now? Bruh, this industry has been known for its terrible journalism for many years. I'm not sure if I should be curious where the bad journalists of days past are now, or if that's a rock I'm best off leaving unturned.

Why? I'm sure it will be a nice $20 diversion...if I can't get a digital copy for even less in a flash sale. The devs are the ones who should be worried if their goal is to sell a reasonable amount of launch-priced copies.

Well, technically he "died" in the Arkham verse, but yes, that seems to be what's happening here too. The problem is...the game's not even set in the Arkham verse! The pretense of acknowledging that plot point is kind of pointless, especially given how many other things are different thanks to the get out of jail free card that is the other universe setting. You'd think that get out of jail free card would be used to just hit the reset button and start over with an en...

Because the devs decided to make a game that kind of acts as a sequel while being set in a different universe (which you'd think would remove the need for a game to acknowledge any kind of Arkham continuity, especially given that it ignores entire swaths of the rest of it, but whatever I guess). I get the sense the dev team had a long debate over what kind of game they should make before deciding to end the discussion by just trying to do all of it (while likely failing to implement any ...

People making a big deal out of this probably weren't interested in getting a PS5 anyways...which by the way, they might be shocked to learn, will come with a Dualsense.

A complete reboot would have been ok too. In fact, with a new gen starting, and the existing Arkham storyline spanning two gens, it would actually be the perfect time to do just that. That way, there would be fewer restrictions too on what kind of story can be told. There are so many facets of Batman that could be explored, from storylines to characters, and many ideas that can be extracted from them to form a new narrative.

If the devs wanted to ditch the Arkham conti...

That's what frustrates me most. I would have been perfectly ok with a reboot to the series that starts over. There's a lot of Batman lore to draw on, and a plethora of good starting points for a new storyline.

I would have been perfectly ok with a sequel that adequately builds upon the foundation of the previous games. The premise of the story for this upcoming game could have worked just fine as a sequel if it was adapted accordingly.

I think it's been confirmed that it's set in a different universe. I don't recall Gordon dying in the Arkham games either. It's odd, because the story is still set after Bruce faked his death, but in an alternate timeline where he didn't reveal himself to the public, and where Barbara isn't paraplegic?

If the dev team wanted to reboot the franchise, they could reboot the franchise. There's no point in trying to acknowledge some continuity whil...

I'd make some snide comment about getting the PS version instead, but...no, this is really crummy and my fellow Xbox-owning gamers shouldn't have to put up with this kind of anti-consumer BS.

Innovation for innovation's sake is not something I'm big on. Also, innovations that aren't really used much are moot points. But, innovation that helps take gaming in a new and better direction while still respecting what makes gaming engaging to begin with, and which devs actually take advantage of for more than a small handful of games, is great IMHO.

I do think these new features have the potential to give us something great. Of course, the potential ex...

While I prefer Arkham City myself (although I still love Asylum), I have to agree that open worlds are way overused and overrated. It's not just franchises moving to open worlds either. It's open worlds in general. It's like so many games have to have them even though they don't need them.

Ok, I get the mindset of wanting a game to feel like there are fewer limits; give us a feeling of freedom. But, more often then not, it comes with way too many boring ...
