You'd be surprised at how much gamers love their hunks of cardboard. I can be a sucker for boxes too, even though they tend to just sit in my closet. I sometimes fill them with things to save space, such as collector's editions and whatnot. Some collector's editions come with their own boxes.
So...there will be no flying mounts in the new Horizon I guess. I suppose I'll have to wait until Horizon 3 for that. :( I think the anger is overblown, but I'm not going to lie, I'm disappointed this game didn't turn out to be PS5 exclusive.
Agreed. People may not know this, but here's a little secret: PS5 will come with a DualSense! Seriously people, you'll have the controller you need to play the game, so chill.
@darthv72 No shit Sherlock. That doesn't mean every single Sony first party game is cross-gen. Just some of them, and this is not out of the ordinary for the start of a gen. MS is basically saying there will not be a current gen exclusive first party title from them for a good, long while, while Sony's saying some of their titles will be and some won't be, and I can guarantee they'll ditch cross-gen well before MS.
Sony’s doing cross-gen with some games. MS is doing it with all their first party games. These strategies are not equivalent.
It’s more that MS said there would be zero XSX exclusives for at least a good year that got people. There are PS5 exclusives coming. I assumed the new Horizon would be one of them but I can live with it being cross-gen. Sony’s doing normal cross-gen stuff. MS is taking it well beyond that normal threshold.
Nintendo would be much slower in replenishing their supply. Sony pulled a Nintendo without actually intending to limit their stock.
And they sure were right about needing that extra supply.
I’m so glad I made the decision this time to just wait until 2021. I’ll get my popcorn and watch the fireworks and get myself a PS5 once all the madness dies down. I can wait. It’s not as though I don’t have anything to play in the meantime.
That's the story they're sticking with, at least. They haven't exactly given a reason for why a company dedicated to producing videogame hardware...can't afford the latest hardware. On the other hand, the success of the N64 and Gamecube was considerably more meh compared to what Nintendo managed to achieve with the Wii, and now the Switch. I can see why they would want to focus on "innovation" instead, as that's been where they've struck gold, and that mak...
But "easily accessible ideas" mean comfortable systems to play and use. The Switch caught on because it wasn't a gimmick for the sake of being a gimmick, and its quirks actually lend themselves to good old fashioned gaming by virtue of sheer convenience and versatility.
I hope Nintendo doesn't just keep trying random BS to see what sticks and what doesn't or they might end up pulling a Windows and have an alternating pattern of systems that are real...
And people thought they wouldn't need those planes of extra shipments.
I missed out on the Gamecube release so I'm looking forward to finally being able to play this game!
If true, I'm super stoked!
Yeah, at that point their games should be F2P. You're getting F2P quality with these yearly rehashes anyways.
Yeah...and they still haven't managed to adequately explain their reasoning for that either.
I hope so. Unfortunately we have no control over mass stupidity, and I have no trouble believing a lot of suckers will buy these games anyways.
Of all the companies to justify this...sorry, you're not it. Your PoS yearly MT-fest sports games that are normally just rehashes of sports games from previous years aren't worth $60USD.
SE probably wanted to work with the PS5 on this one too, with a PC port planned later on. They can probably do a lot more if the PS5 is the lowest common denominator than if the XSS is. I wouldn't be surprised if more studios feel the same way, though whether they choose to develop PS5 console exclusives for that reason largely depends on how well the XSX and XSS end up doing in relation to the PS5.
That's why I'm just going to wait six months or so for all the hype to die down. I want a PS5, and I'm going to get one, but I'm not going to die if I don't get one right away. Plus, by that time more games will be out for the system.
