Making the agony of waiting that much worse because you have to spend the next week staring at your new game or accessory without being able to use it in any way?

Well, yeah. For all my complaining that they could have even more first-party content on the Switch, I very much love what they did bring to the platform, and it is a system where I can get both the console and handheld experience.

Eh...I think there are quite a few reasons why the Wii U didn't perform nearly as well as it should have, and it being a console isn't one that comes to mind. Consoles can perform just fine, and Nintendo is a household name. No, there was definitely more to the equation than that. But, going with a hybrid console/handheld system this time around certainly was a stroke of genius on Nintendo's part.

Nintendo...we already have MS if we want the Trump camp of gaming. Moronic denial of facts and laughably bad attempts to spin them is something they wear better, so please quit while you're ahead. Granted, you're quite good at getting the legal system wrapped around your finger, so I'll give you that one.

Well, there sure were a lot of great games on the SNES, plenty of which still hold up pretty well today.

True. I don't think MS went into this expecting the XSS to be a big seller in Japan.

Well, yeah. Even the Vita managed to do pretty decently in Japan during its life cycle. I'm pretty sure the Switch killed that, but it had a good run. A portable system, or a hybrid like the Switch, is just a much better fit for the lifestyle of a Japanese person. But, that doesn't mean there's no market for consoles. It's just more niche. The thing is...Xbox can't even get its foot in the door for the market that does have the time to game at home on a regular enoug...

Sure there is...but third place has to clean up after they're finished because everyone will have gone home well before they finish running their race (i.e. reach sales milestones that their competitors would have surpassed multiple times over by that point).

No wonder almost no one in Japan wants one. The Switch is a much better fit for the typical Japanese consumer, and is being sold at the same price. When the XSS was even more expensive, it would have been an even harder sell.

No, but I'm sure it does have to do with very few people in Japan wanting one, and the PS5 surely isn't helping in that regard.

And that's why I'm biding my time before I finally decide to play Royal. I actually own the collector's edition, and I know for a fact I'll love Persona 5 all over again when I finally get to it...but maybe it's just not the right season for me to dive into it right now.

Is this the part where we're supposed to act surprised? Obviously the consumer will choose whichever product offers more value.

We will see, but MS is going to have to start being...not like MS, and actually use the studios they've invested in, for more than one game, and for those games to be top-notch enough, and Xbox exclusive. They invest in everything and the kitchen sink, whether it be power, services, etc. to see what sticks, but at the end of the day, it's about games.

If their recent acquisitions help MS make a positive change, and we see a new MS who's actually competitive t...

Great read. I'm actually playing through Sunshine for the first time. It's far from a perfect game, most notably from a mechanical standpoint, but it is an experience I'm glad I finally got to have, and I for one am thankful for it.

But a 丸 is akin to a check mark. That’s sure to confuse some Japanese people. Oh well, at least now Japan can experience that second of pressing the wrong button in menus when first switching from PS5 to Switch or vice versa that us Westerners sometimes get, since Nintendo’s A button will remain where the ⭕️ is on a PS controller.

Incidentally, Sony’s the reason why Xbox’s A button is where it is. Fun fact. Nintendo: Japanese menu controls worldwide. MS: Western menu ...

I'm sure such a system would allow for either or.

True. If you only speak English, you really don't need all those other languages in your games, and even if you happen to be a native speaker of another language and would prefer to play the game in that, you wouldn't need any of the other languages.

You mean a remake of a PS3 game. In other words, a PS5 game.

“I’m not a fanboy but I’ll say something fanboyish and expect no one to react to it”. Don’t worry bruh, you are far from the first and will definitely be far from the last.

Agreed. I feel safe buying a PlayStation because I can be pretty confident there will be plenty of great exclusives for it. But, a Demon’s Souls remake is one such game well worth getting.
