What would be great is if these games could be ported natively to the Switch. As it stands, I may as well just stick to playing them on PS4...as they actually run off of my PS4. What a novel concept. I'm not big on streaming my games, personally. Thanks, but I'd much rather play something else on my Switch. There are plenty of games that do run on the system.
Yes...and also no. There’s plenty I love about modern gaming, but there are things I miss about eras past. On top of that, each gen has a unique feel to it. Things like graphics, sound, physics, etc. are constantly improving, but there’s something about how a Genesis or PS1 game feels and plays that modern games can’t quite replicate.
Also, while I love the conveniences of digital storefronts, I miss Christmas mornings growing up when I could unwrap a game, open it up,...
For me it depends how long a game can stay engaging, and whether that length is filled with genuinely good content, or is padded with fluff. The problem has less to do with length, and more to do with my attention span for a particular game. I don’t like bloat.
I’ll be cautious in approaching all future major fighting games TBH. Unfortunately, content such as characters, stages, modes, costumes and even tracks lend themselves well to being put behind paywalls, and the devs know it. It’s as if the genre itself was built for such consumer exploits with how well it fits them like a glove. Thank goodness for retro fighting games...
Dude also dedicates his life to trying to get every PS trophy. He didn’t get all of those without sacrifice. The rest of us can’t compete with him.
That's BS because there have been updated versions of games that have been eligible for awards in the past. The Game Awards are clearly slanted in favour of more mainstream games, and there has been more than one occasion when my personal GotY has been far more under the radar. For that reason, I haven't bothered with the Game Awards or any other high profile award show or publication in years.
I decide what my personal GotY is every year based on what I've ...
Yep. I was going to add to that, but I've got nothing. Both Persona and SMT are great.
Good thing you're a gamer dad, so you know exactly what needs to be done. It seems many parents still don't realize there are more steps. Part of me wishes it were still the early 2000s or prior, when one could get a game for Christmas, put it in their console and play it with no issues. Thankfully I've long since grown accustomed to things not being quite that simple anymore. I imagine I would probably do the same as you though if I had a kid and got him/her a console. Maybe...
I wouldn't be surprised if a bunch of toads were in charge of their maintenance too. I could just picture a bunch of them running back and forth in the server room.
This article isn’t actually about throwing shade on a console that sold poorly so much as acting as a marker for how well the PS5 is selling, with more consoles and handhelds to follow. Outselling the WiiU isn’t very impressive, but doing it in a year is, or if you would prefer, reaching 13.58 million consoles sold in a year, especially during a chip shortage, is insane. The XS is a ways off on reaching that.
But these are ports of games from really old hardware that even the Switch should be able to run no problem... Bad devs! If you can’t handle a simple remaster that’s a problem.
Well, that’s a subjective question, and one that’s not nearly as straightforward as it might seem, by virtue of SMT actually being a bunch of titles that are often just as distinct from one another as Persona is from them.
What did they do that you didn’t like?
If some games are your biggest worries about 2022, I envy you friend.
Now we just need Stadia in Space and Stadia vs Ouya.
That’s crazy! I worked at a Best Buy during the height of Wii popularity, and know firsthand how fast those things sold, and that’s saying nothing about the relentless phone calls asking if we had Wiis in stock. If the PS5 is indeed outselling that, hats off.
I have both, and still love them both.
Their products print money, so they have no reason to try very hard, and even less reason to listen to criticism (as apologist trolls are quick to point out). That’s just how Nintendo is now. In any case, they could probably sell “Yoshi turds” and charge $100 for them, and someone would probably buy them, so of course their egos are inflated.
I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't pay for his Switch OLED either. Of course, I'd have to either click the link or watch the vid to find that out, and I don't want to do either.
Portability bruh. I'm not actually all that interested in running KH3 on my Switch, but some like the classics, including those that were originally portable, would be interesting on the Switch. Making all of the collections streaming-only defeats the purpose of that though.
