I see where you’re coming from good sir, and you are correct that people work harder jobs for less pay. As for why gamers care though, I suppose we just appreciate that all our favourite games are made by hardworking people. I doubt all of them are making $100k/year (then again, huge overtime could be what makes them reach that).

From our end though, I’m not sure if people do their best work when they’re not well-rested. Even if a game turns out well, it’s possible it ...

Guys, can we please stop fighting and just agree that 2022 is shaping up to be a solid year for both PS and Switch owners? I’m glad I own both. Both companies know the value of exclusives, and it shows.

I suppose nothing says love is in the air like shooting one another.

I'm all for that...so long as such a protagonist is accompanied by acceptable writing quality and isn't just thrown into the game to check off a box.

The short answer is, it depends on the game and whether or not narrative is the focus. For example, maybe it's important to provide us with the social commentary that accompanies the fall of civilization as we come face to face with the dark side of humanity in the struggle for survival. On the other hand, maybe we just need to shoot zombies, and that's cool too. The videogame medium is versatile enough to allow for either approach, some combination of both, or something in between...

Very true. I'm finding I have a lot more money now that I eat out less.

Great call releasing a SMT title for the Switch. That Atlus acquisition is really paying off for SEGA.

This just in: company behind a paid service wants people to subscribe to their premium service. In other news, water is wet. I know that's not actually the thesis of this article, but I couldn't resist, especially since I'm of the opinion that headlines should be a lot more reflective of an article's main points. On the other hand, I somehow doubt I'll agree with the actual thesis mind you, while I have no trouble accepting the premise that Nintendo wants us to give the...

Sure, why not? I'll take it.

Given how many devs who are much larger promise the moon and under deliver, I genuinely believe Sean Murray truly wanted to give us the moon at launch, and I applaud him and Hello Games for taking feedback and improving their product to get it to what it is now.

You won’t hear any complaining from me. I’m glad games like Klonoa and its sequel aren’t lost to time.

Agreed, and given that Nintendo keeps their games at MSRP with even sales being scarce and usually amounting to 30% off, $24.99 USD for 48 tracks isn’t actually terrible coming from them. Maybe it’s telling that even I pick my battles with them, but I’ll take it. There are other hills to die on.

Phil has always been treated as though he has more credibility than he actually has. He’s the guy behind the brand that’s always been in last. In all fairness, I believe you’re right that Phil actually did believe that. For all the interviews he does, I’ve never gotten the sense that he’s ever been in touch with what is actually trending in the industry.

I don’t even think EA actually believed that either, as there has always been overwhelming data to the contrary and I refuse to believe a large company like EA doesn’t have internet.

They’re just a trash company who saw that their single player titles were doing poorly, and decided to push a narrative that single player games were on the decline in the hopes that it would drive up sales of their multiplayer titles. They ended up on my game company boycott list pretty qui...

I think if someone is paid to review a game they should play the game. Imagine if surgeons debated whether they had to finish every surgery, taxi drivers debated whether they needed to take passengers the entire distance, etc. Bruh, your job is to play games for a living. Just do your job and stop complaining.

Perhaps we can just look at the headlines and comments, as that often tells me all I need to know without having to read any of it. If reviewers can’t be bothered to do their job, why should I read their drivel?

Interesting. Playing PS3 online nowadays isn’t something I would have thought of. I still have my PS3, and still love it for games like the excellent Tokyo Jungle (I’m surprised that never got a port to more recent systems).

What’s interesting is, they used to sync fairly quickly on PS3 until one annoying update. I recall it being the one where the extra trophy icon was also removed from the Game tab. The trophy feature became both slower and more inconvenient, and I’m really not sure what the intended up side to that change was. The slowness hasn’t been fixed since. Thankfully I only visit my PS3 every so often now.

Sure, sales aren't going to make or break my experience while playing an excellent game on one of my systems of choice. I play games, not stocks. However, there are consequences to how well a system does. Devs and publishers are far more likely to want to put their games on a system that sells well, because that tells them how big their potential customer base is on that system.

There's more to the picture than that, of course, but sales are a good thing for yo...
