@GamingSinceForever Sony owns Insomniac, you know. I'm pretty sure it would go without saying that anything they produce would at the very least be a PS console exclusive. I could see a PC release being part of the deal, even before Sony really started ramping up their PC ports, but not Xbox. Still...now that you mention it, I believe I do recall there being mention of Marvel approaching Sony, and Sony recommending Insomniac, so you might be correct about the sequence of events.
To my understanding, Marvel approached Insomniac to make a Marvel game featuring a hero of their choosing. It was then that they opted to make a Spider-Man game, because of how iconic he is. Sony does hold the film rights to Spider-Man but not all of Marvel. Still...I agree that they were an obvious choice given they have what is presumably a good working relationship with Marvel.
One can only hope it’s something more than just a new pachinko machine, but that may be a fool’s hope.
Ah, I see. Well, it’s new to me regardless.
A new Vanillaware-inspired game, albeit one by a different developer? Count me in! It looks like this title effectively captures the essence of what makes games like Odin Sphere engaging on more than just an aesthetic level too, while containing unique elements that set it apart, so I'm definitely interested.
Neat. I definitely intend to check this out when it drops.
They're definitely underrated. I think both them and LA are great though. Then again, I've never come across a game in the series I've disliked, which apparently even includes the Gameboy/Gameboy Color titles. It's either an impressively consistent series in terms of quality or I'm just a fanboy.
I'd buy it.
Check my comment above. You can actually take the survey. I agree that it’s total BS that we have to lie our way in, but it’s a trifling matter. I’m sure plenty of Canadians think the barrier to entry is stronger than it actually is, hence why I’m debunking that notion.
Heck, if some Brits, Aussies, or anyone in the world who speaks English want in on this survey, the anarchist in me would love that, especially after being blatantly told I couldn’t participate in a sur...
Is that so? Nah, if I were a genius I’d probably have higher priorities than taking long surveys that may or may not just be formalities on the part of a company. I’m just someone who doesn’t like being told I can’t do something.
TBH, I think in this case I shouldn’t have had to fudge my way in. Oh well, I’m also someone who tries stuff to see if it will work. I fully expected this survey to ask me for a US address or something for verification so I’m kind of surprise...
Man, I was disappointed to find out that the "North American" survey is apparently only for US residents, not those of us from Canada, but then I lied and said I'm a US resident, and even put in my clearly Canadian email, and it let me take the survey (no questions regarding address or anything). I suppose that means anyone who speaks English can take it regardless of where you're located.
Yes, I enjoy being a fraud, or at the very least, sampling fruit...
Heck, they don’t even need to part with the IPs entirely; just sell the right to produce games in those series while collecting royalties, or at the very least, stipulate an agreement that they still have exclusive rights to produce Pachinko machines based on those IPs to their heart’s content. It would be a win-win as they wouldn’t actually have to do anything, and they would gain capital from such a deal.
Yeah, and to think I used to view them as being toe-to-toe with Capcom for the longest time, but I guess the winner of that matchup was decided when one company stepped out of the ring to focus on their side hustle in Japanese casinos while the other has actually since ramped up production of its IPs.
At least Konami’s retro compilations are solid...however, when re-releases of old games are virtually their only major releases in an otherwise lengthy dry spell...I don’t k...
Unfortunately, fighting games lend themselves well to DLC and season passes, even more so than most other genres, and even more unfortunately, devs behind these games know it. Content such as characters, modes, stages and even costumes/skins are all things that could be put behind paywalls, and it all seems to fit the genre like a glove. For the above reason, we will likely never go back to the days of fighting games being sold to us as complete packages, which is all the more reason why I ...
If anything, both consoles have been phenomenally successful, and the Switch surpassing the PS4 should be seen less as any shade on the PS4, and more as a benchmark of just how far the Switch as come, especially after a gen prior when Nintendo's last system managed to outflop the Vita. Sony should be proud, but now it's Nintendo's moment for applause.
PlayStation continues to have its place among core gamers, and TBH, I hope Sony continues to focus on that nich...
Correction: Switch is a hybrid console. You are absolutely right that Nintendo has been virtually uncontested in the dedicated handheld market up until the release of Steam Deck, and even then, Steam Deck is a far more niche product. There is also the Lite now that is handheld-only, and that does account for some sales.
However, the main model Switch is also a console that can be connected to your TV via a dock, so it is a console. It's a different kind of console, an...
I for one am impressed by one thing Patcher has that most people don’t: the ability to miss the mark, over and over again, and still have a job. Most of us have to consider something called job performance, or in the case of self-employment, public perception is often key. It baffles me to no end that Patcher has somehow transcended that. Is that a perk of being rich and famous?
Great suggestions so far! I'll also add Tomba 1 & 2, Sly 1-4 and the excellent Tokyo Jungle, to cover three gens of PlayStation. I'd also love to see Persona 3 and 4 ported over. I know some people who got into Persona through 5/R and don't know the previous two games.
Seriously? I hate when companies do this. People who want physical copies exist in all regions. I suppose that's why there's a thriving import scene. Still, I'd prefer to have a locally available copy due to cost. Oh well, I guess having physical copies exist at all is better than the alternative.
What's odd is, this wasn't an issue with PS One Classics on PS3/PSP. It only started being an issue with the PlayStation Classic, but one would think they would have learned from that.
