Let's be honest, there are very few willing to have a reasonable conversation. People blame the PS3 fanboys, but it's the fanboys in general, regardless of affiliation. I mean honestly, how many no name blogs do you need telling you the PS3 is doomed? Or how it sucks? That finger points both ways man. Yes, reviews are opinions. The problem is people treat them like FACTS. Putting an arbitrary numerical score on an opinion is probably the greatest hypocrisy found in the review system, and I feel its one that needs to change.
And of course everyone is biased "in our little world." Game reviews are a business, and inherently biased, because they are designed to make money like any other business.
At risk of sounding like a fanboy... it's a PS3 exclusive. It HAS to be nitpicked. It's expected by now, sadly.
I like constructive criticism. But I DO find it funny that a game like KZ2 needs "tempered expectations" while a game like Halo 3 or Gears of War 2 doesn't. Games that share many of the faults that KZ2 is being marked for, as well as many faults of their own that were hugely overlooked. I don't expect the bias against the PS3 to end, ever, sadly... I just hope more people use their brains and follow their OWN opinions instead of those of paid reviewers.
Silly blanket term. What defines it? Sales? Scores? People playing? Personal opinion? You are using a SINGLE score to start up some flame battle. Kinda silly. If we are talking longevity and fun gameplay, its CoD4 all the way that is the true "Halo Killer" for me, as I STILL pick this title up.

You actually bring up a good point. People are all talking about the SCORE, and not the REVIEW itself, which I feel is way way more important.
It's business. Remember, review sites are made to make a PROFIT, like any other business. But you might be on to something concerning G2 and R2... both of which I feel were worse then their prequels.
Yeah Fox, because SONY totally sent out Halo 3 swag bags with Elite 360's and free games worth $1000 to secure their Resistance 2 review scores.

I don't know why you guys stress over comparative scores. Is it the same reviewer? You DO realize that review SCORES are entirely arbitrary and not factual, correct? The review itself is well written and strong, and says the game is great. Isn't that what matters? Again, it's just AN OPINION. Stop getting so worked up. It looks like Killzone does indeed live up to the hype, gamers rejoice and be ready for some FUN!
I think RE5 will be a perfect example of the hypocrisy in game reviewing, simply because its a big name game, its Resident Evil! Therefore it "has" to get good marks. Nevermind that it's controls are outdated with the advent of titles like Dead Space, its RE! Who cares?! That will be the mentality.
Are people really upset that the game is scoring above 9 pretty much everywhere?
Why does ANYONE care about ARBITRARY numbers AT ALL? Read the reviews! They point out the pros and cons, just like any other game. Don't get sucked into the media BS of comparing scores, because frankly, it's stupid.
