While I'm not a fan of installing... I do love the use of the word "massive" here to stir up fanboy ire.
Silly silly N4G.
Controls suck after playing Dead Space, IMHO.
I am also curious as to why some games get passes in reviews for being more of the same, but others are crucified for it.
*sigh*
Can't a game ever, EVER stand on its own merits instead of "Zomg is better/worse than MGS/Halo/Mario!!!!"
Opinions as fact is something I'm getting really sick of.
True gamers don't care, they can look at the situation and see in what ways it does and does not matter. Fanboys however, should stop playing market analyst, it's rather pathetic.
A typo and misuse of a word consistently are two different things. They aren't "little issues" really if we are expected to take all these constant blogs seriously, and in the same vein as "professional journalism." Basic grammar, spelling, and sentence structure is important and the basics of good journalism. Consistent errors don't exactly imbue the reader with a sense of "truth" if you follow me.
No, you shouldn't be insulted for it, but at the sa...
Agreed 100%. Exclusive games and exclusive DLC are two entirely different things. Games make you choose a system. DLC just pisses on the fans.
I think games need a combination of strong matchmaking (CoD4) as well as "Choose your own game" options.
Also, personally, I don't like the idea of a reward system that "punishes." Let's face it, there are a lot of cheaters out there in online gaming, and my idea of fun is not camping in a corner, exploiting a glitch and being a cheater myself just to open a rank to have access to a certain gun. I like CoD4's reward system personally, or at least aesthetic ch...
Gimmick? Maybe.
Insult to fans? Without a doubt.
The funny part is, Kat, I don't care if it does. And I don't care if Halo has done all that. I respect it for what it has done, but NONE of that matters when it comes to actually playing the game. None of that matters to me when I'm having fun with my friends. I can have fun with Halo 3, UT3, CoD4, Goldeneye, Gears, whatever. If I can have fun with Killzone 2, and if it's addictive, that's all that matters to me.
Nothing can "kill" Halo. Nothing can "kill" MGS...
Why Dis... the problem with that is, 9/10 people take these sites as "fact" and don't think for themselves. When they label something a "Halo Killer" they are stirring the pot just as bad, but yes in a different manner. It's just as big a disservice, because the media creates these huge expectations through their OWN hype, and then if/when a game doesn't live up to them, they tear it apart.
No longer are games reviewed on their own merits, but rather on the hy...
Who is "sonyfanboy" and where do I speak with him? Does he control the law of this place? I be confused.
All I'm saying is, all this "2008 was the year of (insert console here)" stuff is just silly e-phallus waggling. If you're a gamer, all you should care about is that it was a year of great games.
Make 2008 it's own... what? I thought Nintendo owned 2008?
Can stupid flamebait articles at least be consistent, please?
Were you as disappointed as I was in UT3? It just felt... uninspired. UT2004 was probably my all time favorite PC FPS for competitive play, and I can't believe they dropped the ball.
Wow, was Doom that long ago? Man, I'm getting old. I remember first playing Wolfenstein 3D.
So Xi, what is your all time fave FPS games? If you don't mind me asking?
I dont recall AvP selling 2 million copies and being awarded plenty of GOTY awards. ;-) C'mon, it's okay to say it... Goldeneye 007 is THE console FPS of the 1990s.
Fanboys will always speak though. If you let fanboys change your perception of a console, you're focusing on the wrong place. And honestly, every company "sells out" in some manner, as they are there to make money. PS3 was a trojan horse. 360 is utterly broken hardware. Nintendo... *sigh* oh Nintendo...
Wow, thanks for proving how utterly pathetic game related media is. This is a travesty.
You could look up and down in Goldeneye. Real men played with the Solitaire 1.2 controls ;-)
"When Bungie created Halo they created a universe, a universe which is capable of spanning multiple genres just like Mario has "
Technically, they ripped off Ringworld and other concepts. But that's okay, they made the universe work, and I really enjoy it. However, where they went with the story in games was nothing short of utterly disappointing. Oh well, there's always Halo 1 as a shining light in the dark.
It's a way of making multiplatform development easier when streaming is involved. It has nothing to really with the "power" of each system.
