What I'm curious about is this... why even make the comparison at all? Killzone 2 and Gears 2 are different genres, different gameplay focus and design mentality. Both are good games. But again, calling out one title for issues that are grossly overlooked in another seems to be the norm in the media these days.

Indeed. And its unfortunate. You know, they said they wanted to start competing better with the western market, and go multiplatform. I'm cool with that, its the norm these days, game development is expensive. But that means, start changing your design philosophy. It does NOT mean "put everything you have, be it good or subpar, on the 360 while you shaft other consoles." That's not appeasing the western market, that's spitting in the face of many of your fans.
