Having only heard the title thus far, I hadn't realized that this was an actual fighting game. I'm going to have to at least check it out.
While I do take my portable gaming systems with me at times when I'm out, I do most of my hand held gaming at home where I can be plugged in if need be. So what this means to me, and I'm sure many other gamers is that when you're away from home, you only get 3-5 hours. It isn't ideal, but unless you want the thing to be even more expensive, or to have a battery that gets so hot it wrecks your system or is uncomfortable to hold, this is how it has to be. For now.
I can see maybe the spinoffs like 'Mystery Dungeon' and the like being 'milking it', but when you count the main entries of the series, there have barely been more in 14 years than that of say for instance the Call of Duty series has had over the past 6 years. Putting out a new game every 3 or 4 years is nothing compared to doing so every freakin year like some companies shamelessly do.
I'd like to see it. They should experiment, and if 3D is too intense, just make a normal 2D version. This is an important option that Nintendo is offering to developers.
Meh... I thought the pictures were going to show how big the devices would have to have been in order to produce in 1980 the images and effects and gameplay that they were capable of.
Masahiro Sakurai and his 'Project Sora' team. HE's the same guy behind the Super Smash Bros games.
I don't agree with the bit about 'Developers being forced to develop in 3D'. Iwata said that Developers can choose whether or not they want their game to feature 3D. I imagine that we'll see plenty of classic view games on the system.
I'll go one better Mahr. How about beginning the translation/localization process during some earlier time of the near 4 year development? This explanation sounds like a cop-out to me. But at least it gives us strong hope that we'll see it outside of Japan.
If they don't start giving us more Tales games soon, I think the west should stop covering these games completely until they change their tune.
How about a well thought out Zack and Wiki port for 3DS Capcom?
That's what it sounds like. Awesome.
They probably want to sell the browser. If it's cheap and in 3D then power to them I guess...
'Does anyone want the next generation of handhelds?'
In a word? Yes. 3DS for certain. PSP2 as well if it's as bad ass as I figure it will be.
I actually agreed with a lot of what you were saying, but didn't finish reading it all because the way you type is so frustrating. Just figured I'd point that out.
I don't think it's future proofed so much as they've seen the possibility, and will release a later version of the 3DS that has the two cameras on the same side as the screen, and the necessary software.
lol @ Sir Winston Q. Prick...
He's right. Not every developer has the potential budget ceiling of an Activision or EA. So if someone with less money at their disposal wants to make a huge game, they can do so simply by developing on the console with an innately lower resolution and development cost. And while of course the resolution and textures can't compare well to well made HD games, no one in their right mind can say that The Last Story is an ugly game.
People who have issues with the games and Activision feel that the game shouldn't be successful, and it annoys them that the next one will likely be successful as well so they try to spread their opinion. IMO, the only thing more pathetic in this situation than these shamelessly glitchy games is that people line up year after year to fork out the cash for them.
G*d D*mmit!
Two words: Parental responsibility. If your very young child owns or has access to a piece of hardware like this it is because you bought it for the child, or are letting the child play it. People may try to sue, but they won't win. People need to raise their damned kids...
If you don't have to, why choose one? If you can only choose one, why hate on the other?
