This article says 10-15% (which equates to about 10ms per frame on one of the Xenon cores), and I'd have to say the source is considerably more reputable -- Alex Kipman is the Kinect project director at MS.

Without said labels, game publishers used to believe ridiculous things like "because the Wii has a larger install base, any kind of game will sell better there". Hindsight is 20/20, and tells us that just plain isn't true.

The labels exist for a reason. They a crude method for describing demographics, which are *very* important to game developers and publishers, even if they do not matter to the typical gamer.

The dev costs aren't going up, because they have an engine? That makes no sense, according to the traditional "Why SD is cheaper" argument of dev costs being tied to art resources -- not engines.

Unless the 3DS texture and modelling work is no better than it is for DS games, that is. Somehow I doubt that. Man I sure hope that's not true. Also, um, most DS games are 2D... seems kinda silly to suggest that 3D wouldn't cost more.

I guess I don't see how 3D, even HD, etc. matters to Nintendo's Blue Ocean core? SMG plays just fine on my HDTV, in 480p widescreen.

I don't know that the art style, etc. of Mario would really benefit from HD all that much. If they complicate the textures, add polygons... does Mario really need that? I think it's folly to assume Nintendo is going to cater to the hardcore, after the Wii's success...

I think the question to ask is: "what else do they *need* to do", other than HD. The answer, I think, is "nothing", outside of bumping the processor specs and memory amount.

Why on earth would people compare a game running on 2006/2007 hardware to a game made to run on 2011 hardware?

Yeah the PS3 was ahead of its time, but...

The "new audience" isn't going to be as interested in the new hot thing when it arrives, as the "old audience" would be. Hence, the need for Nintendo to fire up the old audience, unless they have something that the new audience will go nuts over, and want to discard their perfectly working, very durable (old, reliable tech) Wii for.

Wii 2 is not something Nintendo wants to jump the gun on. The Wii 1 will satisfy the casuals for a LOT longer than it w...

Wierd that you hold up Tiger Woods is some sorta icon for Wii, considering that it's... you know, a family console and all.

Also what's interesting in your chart is that Wii Tiger Woods sales began to drop off drastically after its second year (2008), and you also fail to mention that TW is one of the few successful 3rd party titles that has ever been produced for the Wii -- yet you're holding it up as some sort of standard to base all those assumptions on?

Feh. Its a 8.5, tops. Its good, but... 9.0 its not, IMO.

Then again, I've been soured on RTS games since.... hmm since StarCraft 1 actually. Maybe my lack of playing any RTS games since then makes it seem like the genre hasn't changed at all in all this time.

That and... okay my PC sorta sucks. 7900 Ultra. =( Would having a 285 GTX, or somesuch, really improve the game that much?

Is this article site really named "Alt + F4"?

Is it about closing apps? That's what Alt+F4 does in Windows. Seems like a kinda boring thing to have a website about.

Maybe its some sorta complainer-centric site? "Close this, close that" on your computer, is the theme?

First paragraph of the article, which you maybe didn't read?:

"As our IndustryGamers exclusive Game Trader analysis reported recently, EA is starting to look better and better. Today the publisher beat expectations for its first quarter ended June 30. Total revenues climbed from $644 million to $815 million, while the company turned around last year's net loss of $234 million to a profit of $96 million. "

I agree. Add a touchscreen, sure. Just don't lose the controls.

iPhone sucks for gaming, without controls.

After your eyes are crossed for a while, your muscles do probably get used to it, and the strain becomes less.

Work out now, so the 3DS won't hurt later. ;)

Uw wow. 15% off ALL Wii games ($30 and up) for two weeks straight?

That's a whole lotta desire to clear Wii inventory. I guess GS is trying to prep for the holidays, and they've discovered their bargain bins will be overflowing with unsold Wii junk if they don't sell some stock soon.

As far as I'm concerned, the PSP is the only worthy handheld on the market, and has been for years. The 3DS is the first handheld to draw my eye away, and even then I'm not so sure.
