The publishers never see a dime from you, if you never buy new, so... why should they care about you?
Maybe you should be complaining to GameStop, with regards to their keeping 100% of used game revenue, and not rewarding the publishers who provide them with such good business, forcing them to rely upon other methods to make their titles produce enough income.
You statement sounds like this to me: "I never buy organic, fair-trade chocolate, because I lik...
Used game money never gets to the publisher/developer. Every last penny belongs to the retail chain store (like GameStop) you bought it from.
Used game retail business has been booming in the last few years -- GameStop is HUGE. The publishers, on the other hand, are all struggling to stay afloat...
The middleman is the king. They feed their slaves (the publishers) just enough to make new products for the masses, and then recycle the new products for the ma...
The games industry has a terrible economic model, compared to the movie and music industries (which receive loads of additional income from theaters and radio royalty/revenue, respectively), which used games damage a great deal.
Publishers are fighting it because they are businesses, and business does what it has to, to survive.
In truth, its the used games retailers who have been taking advantage of the situation for years, not the publishers. The publisher...
Looks arcade-y and fun. It's not Ghost Recon in anything but name, but it looks like campy fun.
Classic Wii port. The arcade version of the "real" game on HD consoles.
Ponder this for a moment.
Why would Nintendo try and build a machine that outperforms the PS3, and sell it either at a loss (remember the PS3 costs near its purchase price to make), or break even?
Since the beginning of video-game time, Nintendo has made money on hardware AND software, and catered their products to the low end of the purchase spectrum. Until they can build a Wii HD, AND sell it for $250, AND make money off it, there won't be one, plain a...
You should compare MAG to BF:BC2 or MW2 in MP. The graphics are actually pretty comparable. The MP portions of those games don't look anywhere near as good as the SP... honestly, if I had to pick one, I'd actually say MAG is the best looking, in MP, these days -- better MP anims, better MP deaths, bigger/better FX, and even MLAA looks to have been added in the last patch. The environs are better in MW2 and BF:BC2... but not much.
Seriously -- compare the MP side by...
...and Halo: Reach...
Obviously this top 25 thing is like a crystal ball for the rest of the sales universe.

People believe it because it's true.
Oftentimes, games will require patching to the latest version to play online -- the latest version, of any one game, is often 30-40MB of space by itself, and the NXE takes up a good chunk of the 256 MB by itself -- over the 128MB that the original Arcade modesl shipped with. IIRC, MS offered refurb'ed 20GB HDDs to old Arcade owners when NXE came out, because 128MB wasn't enough for NXE all by itself.

You need to be more confident in your preferred hardware, SOAD. You should be specific about how the 360 is the better value, to you, if you're going to post with regards to such an article.
I don't think the 360's value is so clear any longer, now that the price difference has been shed. Please share your viewpoint.
Man, Carmack goes to town to give his opinion on every upcoming games technology.
I also seem to recall him knocking the PS3 architecture until recently, and claiming the iPhone is a more capable gaming console than the original XBox.
He's a smart guy, but he should stop with the crystal ball.
Pretty informative piece, actually.
The game developers love the idea. Did you read the article, Stealth20k?
This is Kinect's killer app.
Considering the power of DDR to move $50-100 dance pads, I wouldn't be surprised to see Kinect sell decently well, just as an accessory for this game.
Work out the software tie ratio for US PS3s and 360s, on Madden 11.
Seem strange at all, with all the new 360s going out the door?
Proof positive that empty, bland environments look better in low rez than high rez, because there are fewer utterly boring pixels.
The PS3 version actually lacks grass, whereas the Wii version has them. Lol. I think this is safe to chalk up as "incomplete port".
Maybe so.
I'm serious though. Foreign consoles are outlawed in China, and this is the Chinese equivalent of Kinect.
If it doesn't sell well, what does that say about the Kinect concept, on the whole?
I bet eBox outsells Kinect.
@disagrees; Come on, you know that's funny. And probably true.
The iPhone doesn't hold a candle to the XBox 1. I suppose its close to the PS2 and PSP. Carmack is nuts if he thinks otherwise.
Wow they let anyone write "tech" articles these days.
This game was just as long and good as plenty of PS3 and 360 titles that did WAY better. Despite the Wii providing a good 2x as many potential customers, it failed to even match up to similar titles on the much-less popular consoles.
It was marketed pretty well, and it was *bundled* with WMP, so I dunno how that would stop people from buying it -- it should have been a huge boon instead. The one, and only, answer to its lack of success is demographics. They just aren't...
