This is actually real bad press for Kinect, since webcams have far greater resolution than Kinect, and PCs have much more horsepower to devote to image analysis than the 360 does.
This video may convince some folks that shooters might be easily adapted to work with Kinect, which has some resolution issues that wouldn't give it such fine-grained control (particularly at the distances console gamers tend to play from their TVs) -- and thus, its not really as suitable as a g...
I agree that anyone, who likes the games offered for Kinect, should consider buying it. And if you don't like the games offered? You shouldn't buy it.
Can't really argue that.
2K Boston. Those guys are basically legendary, yet people only remember BioShock and BioShock 2, and even then they have trouble remembering who made those epics.
Here's a list of classics those guys made, although under different company names, over the years:
Ultima Underworld 1/2, System Shock 1/2, Thief 1/2, Terra Nova, Freedom Force 1/2.
Basically every game in that list is of legendary greatness -- even Terra Nova, which most peopl...
Harmonix is a big name, and frankly the dance game was the best of the Kinect lineup. It has the means to inject new life into the aging dance genre basically invented by DDR.
I wouldn't underestimate that particular title. It may be the only serious title of note for Kinect, but it'll probably be big until everyone realizes that Kinect is basically just an accessory to play that game with. Even so, people buy good (the durable kind) DDR pads for near $100 -- Kinec...
The casual news services see any game as a replacement for the current status quo. Kinect has games, therefore it satisfies people who play games -- that's their logic, flawed as it may be.
Its the most different from existing control schemes, and the media loves different. We all know that may not translate into success, at least in the "non-casual gamer" crowd, but that point doesn't matter to the casual media. They don't care about gamers. They ca...
You would think trolls would take more time to make their posts sound convincing.
Baltis, you put down MGS4, GOW3, and KZ2, while giving props to Conan? Come on. Why waste your time typing all that drivel that no one will even believe?
Yeah, Greenburg is too into deceptive cherry-picking, to be my favorite, as well. I prefer all the facts to cloud my view of any particular product, rather than just a select few.
I can only assume that Soda is frightened by the awesomeness that is MAG, otherwise you wouldn't think he'd spend time commenting on a game he's never played.
If wireless KB and mice weren't so flaky, and my TV supported more than 1360x768, and using a KB and mouse didn't require a table or somesuch which sitting on my couch, and...
Yeah I think prefer console gaming, to being hunched over a computer monitor, or having to turn my TV/couch into a computer gaming rig monitor and chair. Comfort >> tech.
Well.. pshaw. I disagree that naming Bruce's games wouldn't be fun.
Another doomsday article by someone who doesn't understand that things like the PSP Go, being nothing more than a minor HW redesign, are profitable even if only a couple thousand sell, and that accessories like the Move are never sold at a loss.
Where do these guys dig up their profound knowledge of business? Aren't these the same guys who told us that because Wii games cost so little to produce that the Wii was some sorta goldmine for 3rd parties? Yet... somehow it...
It's always nice to have options.
People love spending crazy loads of dough on handhelds for their kids, which have warnings all over them with regards to watching stereo 3D imagery for too long. Nintendo should keep the price at $299 for this reason.
I'm joking, of course. I don't think anything above $249 is even survivable, if kids and young adults are the core demographic. Anything over $199 is pushin' it, IMO. If this 3D tech costs Nintendo so much money to incorporate, that they are forc...
The author forgot Bruce Lee, who is Bruce Lee in his own PC game from the late 80s. The game was unbelievably awesome, as is, and because of, Bruce Lee. The game may have been titled "Enter the Dragon", after Bruce's most famous, and one of his many awesome, movies.
You can probably find it on abandonware sites like Home of the Underdogs, these days -- totally worth playing, if you're into retro awesomeness.
Activision wants to take the fun out of making games, according to Bobby K. Surely that will translate into games that are made fun -- because making them won't be. And they sure will come out fast... like a factory. Yep. I can see the logic.
Lol. And the other systems that had 3D games.. their 3D was not tacked on... part of the system right?
Sorry bud, but I'd have to say, out of all those systems, the PS3 is the one the most capable of 3D, and the most natural fit for it.
LoL. He is faceless, relationship-less, and all he speaks are one-liners. How is that character?
Somehow, the fact that some ancient systems did stereo 3D, but yet did not do serious 3D rasterization, doesn't really matter to me much.
I can make a couple transparencies, one with red scribbles, one with blue scribbles, and make a 3D effect too. Do I beat the NES, since I was able to do this before the NES was even released?
I'm not too thrilled by the idea of reliving the N64 days.. AGAIN, except this time in stereoscopic 3D.
I'm looking forward to some decent 3rd party support, which hasn't really shown up yet, except AGAIN with the remakes. I've played MGS3, etc. Playing it again in 3D sounds fun for about 5 minutes -- i.e. it sounds like a great tech demo.
Kid Icarus.. now that I'm looking forward to.
You can tell how much into the gory details of MP SOCOM fans are by the subjects of SOCOM 4 news posts. They are much more in depth than your typical shooter.
No one would post such a detail about CoD.. because no one would care. For SOCOM, though, such an item will hit at least 100'.
Gotta respect SOCOMers for their devotion. And frankly, SOCOM has always been a pretty unique and cool MP game, IMO.
