I don’t recall Nintendo ever saying it would.
I mean, we got a G.U. remaster, so this would be nice. There’s that data file thing that tries to explain the basics of four games that came before...but that was always going to be a losing battle. You can’t adequately sum up four JRPGs in that time. That would be like trying to sum up all of Harry Potter to someone who’s never seen it so they can get what’s going on in the recent movies.
Well, duh. Donald’s way too old and senile to be weighing in on an issue like the “do games cause violence” debate.
There also has yet to be a single game that points a gun at someone and forces them to commit a mass shooting.
Loot boxes and whatever some people smoke to make them think videogames cause violence are two different issues. That said, please ban loot boxes. Gamers don’t want them.
@RabbitFly What free content? If I pay for a game I’m giving a company money. Therefore I should be entitled to everything the game offers. If they decide to release free DLC, that’s one thing, but they don’t have to do that.
If you’re talking about F2P games, I don’t really play those, but that is the only case where I think MTs make sense. I mean, those games have to make money somehow and this method was designed for games like that. Games we pay for though, shoul...
Because it would be way too costly if a company's product has a widespread enough defect and said company commits to replacing every last one of them. I mean, at least it's controllers with Nintendo's Switch and not entire systems, but that can still be problematic to a company's bottom line. Even a commitment to repairs can be costly. Moreover, waiting to weigh in on an issue like that can have benefits, such as people taking matters into their own hands by just replacing ...
I agree with your points, but please don't call the current era the "Stadia era". Google's product has yet to even sell one unit, and until it proves itself to be a bestseller, it doesn't get to sit at the same table as the existing consoles, let alone have a "era" named after it. At this point it's all a bunch of talk, and I for one hope it flops.
I agree, although game controls are pretty standardized now and I’ve never had to switch from X being jump to another button unless I do some retro gaming. I’d still like a custom-control option though.
Some games that don’t have them could also benefit from having manual saves too. I prefer when auto-saves are a thing, but where appropriate I also like being able to save my progress at the point when I stop playing, or after clearing something tough if I’m unsure whethe...
Using obvious statistics that debunk nonsense studies? Pfftt. Everyone knows if it’s not politically motivated or doesn’t use a popular thing as a scapegoat for a serious issue, it’s not real science. /s
Sadly I think there will still be idiots who pay for MTs like that even with this change.
It’s a good first step. It doesn’t eliminate the problem, but companies have to be transparent about how scummy it is.
It's already here. I don't support it though, and never will.
If only that were true. I’m sure they still think they voted for Robin Hood and will do it again.
Actually, the global climate is slowly warming, and there are annual statistics to prove it. Climate change is a more encompassing term that doesn’t just cover the aberrant effects of a global temperature increase, but other stuff as well, from deforestation to the increased acidity of the oceans. Global warning is a part of all that though.
Tell that to Americans. I’ve had many a pointless conversation with them about the dangers of guns but they’re so convinced guns are needed for self-defense it’s not even funny.
Transitioning the US to an outright ban on guns is unrealistic and would not go over well, but something reasonable like age restrictions for buying guns, and a ban on anything automatic or semi-automatic (as those are beyond excessive even from a defensive standpoint) would go a long way to help...
Until games become sentient and go on a murdering spree or point a gun at someone and make them do it, no, they don't cause violent crime. They're also not ideal murder weapons, and that really only applies to physical games as digital games are completely ethereal. There is no basis for the notion that they cause violent crime. I suppose systems and accessories have more heft for things like blunt trauma, but there are far more effective and affordable objects for achieving a murd...
I can see it being a landmark...in Marianas Trench, where the sales figures for this thing will hopefully be.
@dkrusen87 You're welcome. :)
I like how they're trying to use semantics to cover up this fact. They clearly noticed that people were noticing the obvious that their headlines ended in "...says dev", so now they end them with "- ____ dev". Unfortunately for them, people are not stupid and we know these are still the same kind of articles.
