I usually avoid politics because they've become obnoxious lately. I don't need a helping of it in the realm of gaming. Whether Donald is a buffoon with the IQ of a sea-slug or the second coming of Christ with an unparalleled intellect or something in between, all I care about is that my hobby isn't affected. It still may not be, as this may only affect US pricing, but Americans don't deserve that either. At the end of the day, regardless of what goes on, everyone needs to ...
If MS is committed and their first party studios pump out exclusives consistently and not just to make a tantalizing launch lineup, then it's possible. They have their work cut out for them though and the advantage still lies with Sony even if the above proves true. Anything's possible but I'm expecting more of what we saw this gen.
Maybe. It's possible, which in itself is quite an achievement to say the least.
And whenever BS journalism says Sony is going to get left behind if they don't do whatever flavour of the day type thing one of their competitors is doing, we should post a link to this in the comments.
@thesoftware730 I never said I disliked Nintendo's IPs. I just think they tend to rest a little too much on their laurels where those series are concerned. Compare that to a company like Sony whose first party studios are constantly pumping out new and great IPs.
I doubt Nintendo IPs would sell nearly as well or review as high if they didn't have decades of nostalgia behind them. They're lucky to have such household names under their umbrella, and they kno...
The N64 controller and the Dreamcast controller can probably be forgiven. I don't think they were terrible for what they were, and both were trying something new. For the N64, companies weren't sure how to make a controller for 3D games. The transition from the 4th to 5th gen was awkward in general. It just so happened that Sony stumbled upon a better controller for the times with the DualShock. However, even if the controller was good, control schemes for various games weren'...
The problem is, what constitutes "fun" is subjective, and maybe people prefer games that have good stories, or being able to use network features. Greatest game developers in the world? I respectfully disagree. They were once on top, but that's because they not only understood the industry at the time, but were the trailblazers who played no small part in shaping it. It seems to me that they're all getting old and don't seem to understand the here and now or have eno...
While I'm personally the same way, I can see why some people like to take their games with them wherever they go, especially if they're busy. I fail to see what's wrong with people having hobbies. As 99.99% of my gaming happens at home, the portability aspect of the Switch isn't that important to me, but different people live different lives.
They just need to roll out Virtual Console. That Nintendo Online thing with "free" NES games is not and will never be Virtual Console. The Switch is a perfect system to have a selection of both console and handheld games from various systems released over the years, both by Nintendo and others. They're sitting on something potentially great. I mean, one of Nintendo's greatest strengths is their legacy that extends further back than that of either Sony or MS. Why not cel...
That's just it. You can like something and still acknowledge it could be better. Switch fans in particular can get quite defensive, but the reality is not everyone is just harping on the Switch for the sake of trying to bring Nintendo down. Some are just pointing out that certain things can be better. Nintendo's stance of not taking anyone's feedback into account is also not helping. There are steps Nintendo can take to make your Switch experience even better, and acknowledgi...
@ RobotimusPrime Actually, it kind of was addressed. Don't you think Toby would have noticed had Erica not made the switch? He found out sometime after both hooking up, and bragging to his friends about it on a subsequent evening, meaning Erica did indeed get that special surgery.
How do your friends and family accidentally unplug your consoles? I've never had that problem and that's a very specific one to have. Do you have them out in the open in a spot where they're trip-hazards? A TV stand would do you good. Or is your entertainment center away from a wall and in a place where people have to step over your plugs? Either way that's not only bad for your consoles, but is a safety hazard that really should be addressed.
Other tha...
What, were you expecting them to write something original? I don't think they're capable of that.
Considering having weaker hardware isn't stopping it, yeah. I expect the PS5 will eventually outsell it, but I'm sure it will still continue to do quite well.
MS's "lane" will probably be a lot more GaaS heavy though. They appear to be beginning to understand why PlayStation is where it is and Xbox...isn't, but time will tell if much will change, studio acquisitions or not. The biggest barrier to the success of Xbox isn't Sony or Nintendo, however. It's Xbox, or more specifically, the way it's being managed. I still expect they will focus more on attempting to "carve a lane" as you put it, than addressing...
It just means even Phil doesn't think Xbox can compete with PlayStation. I guess he's finally starting to see things for how they have been for an entire gen now.
How is that mind-blowing? The Switch can run much more recent games than that. I mean, yes, things have come a long way and something like this may very well have been mind-blowing from an early 2000s perspective. But, so would a lot of things, and there are far more impressive things out there in this day and age for those of us who haven’t slept through the past 15 years. Also, Doom 3 blows monkey chunks IMHO. Playing it on a handheld won’t change that.
Good thing my copy of the BFG Edition is on a physical disc.
I would say the future is doomed, but we're heading towards a future where if you so much as want to get the full experience out of your literal doom, there will be a service or two to sign up for beforehand. Don't ask me how that will actually work. We will find out in due time.
Well, that's a milestone it will cross then as the PS4 is projected to keep on selling. I believe Sony only slightly lowered sales projections for the near future.
