Still not worth upgrading from an original model Switch for, but this model is definitely the one to get for new adopters.
Nothing wrong with giving old games a try. Heck, I never got to actually play through Ocarina of Time till years later too. I remember watching friends and family play through most of it in bits and pieces over the years, to the point where I almost used to think that the thing friends do is start a file in Ocarina of Time and get a third into it before inviting me over to watch them play through part of the middle of the game. I can't really say it's non-nostalgic for me as I do h...
I'm much the same way. Hence why I like my RPGs balanced with little need for side grinding (I can deal with a little, but I don't want to have to do a ton), and I think open worlds are overrated unless they're well enough designed that there isn't a ton of back and forth, back and forth and there's a decent warp system. I know devs do stuff like that to pad out the experience to make the game longer, but I'm not big on it.
@traumadisaster But as far as I know this PoS will only be able to play PS4/XB1 type games. That's not next-gen, and it will get left behind when the new systems release. I believe there is still a hardware cost too, albeit a lower one. I would think that casuals would rather just stick to their phones than fork over even that much and add an additional subscription to their monthly bills. So, I have no idea who the intended audience is for this thing.
It's hard to put a positive spin on something that isn't shaping up to be very good. Some articles try, but they tend to be more in the context of pushing the Stadia as leading us into the future rather than focusing on why it's the future or why we want a streaming-only device and completely ignoring the potential drawbacks to getting one of these things.
I consider myself Liberal, but...WTF? I'm all for more character diversity in videogames and in general I think they have had that, especially in recent years. But even if there weren't a lot of games starring people of other ethnicities or strong female protagonists, mass shootings aren't caused because some games star white guys, and some games have damsels in them.
I also fail to see why one would think that's fuel for hate. Maybe a game just happens...
Being a late adopter isn't necessarily all that bad. Sure, there are a lot of games to catch up on, but you also don't need to wait for all those games to come out to enjoy them. Older titles are often cheaper and they're new to you unless they're multiplats you had access to on a system you have owned prior to your more recent purchase. You can also often get editions that include all the DLC if there is any, and you don't need to worry about things like bugs patched p...
Who do we have to bribe to make EA go away?
But there's no money in publishing a study with a conclusion like that. Best to cover up the truth to make the politicians happy. They need BS studies to draw on. In all seriousness though, common sense dictates this shouldn't be a debate at all. Game development hasn't reached the point where games can be autonomous and go on mass shootings without any input. Actually, game development hasn't reached the point where games can do anything without hardware to run them, and...
Agreed. A happy medium may be to regulate gun use without actually taking them away from people who are responsible. It could be approached like drinking and smoking where people have to be 21 to purchase a gun (with the caveat that people under 21 should definitely be allowed to practice and shoot guns in a controlled setting), or maybe like driving.
I mean, a car is a very dangerous thing (possibly even more so than a gun), but people do recognize that cars are dangerou...
I've weighed in with my stance on this before, but as much of a cop-out as it sounds, there are many different kinds of games out there, even within genres, so I don't believe there is a catch-all perfect mean for game length. Some games thrive on being short, and some need to be long.
I do find that the importance of how captivating a game is, is somewhat proportionate to the length of time devs expect me to put into the game. There are games that fail to engag...
My ex was the clingy one. I dumped her. As soon as I realized I was with Bretta from Hollow Knight, I knew I had to make tracks. I for one didn't need a game to put me on the right track. It just helped provide context.
I wasn't aware the hype suddenly disappeared. According to who? From where I'm standing the hype is still at a reasonable level.
Indeed. Since when has BotW been the only open world game with dungeons and bosses in existence? Oh sorry, it has an item crafting element. I’ve never played a game that has that. /s Do Nintendo fans just not play anything other than Nintendo first party games and lack internet to even hear of the existence of other games?
Using your brain regarding social issues? Pfft. Who does that anymore?
Seriously? I wonder what game the disagreer played that actually does this? I’ve never heard of it and I’ve played a lot of games. I have yet to come across a system with a peripheral that allows for this feature either.
Who cares? It’s that much easier to avoid giving EA a single red cent on the Switch. I don’t support their content on PS4, so its absence on the Switch is irrelevant to me.
No.
Thank you. I wish more people in government would understand this simple fact.
I usually play the hero, but that's just because I can't be a jerk IRL to the extent that an evil playthrough asks me to. That said, I recognize that that has 100% to do with me and not the game.
