A bit? Lulz. At least this isn't another trash piece blindly praising the games.
What would be the point of playing a game with the slogan "Gotta Catch 'Em All"? Oh yeah, to catch as many Pokemon as you can. The thrill of the hunt is a big part of what makes this series tick, and that's why fans are quite disappointed with the limited dex and not even being able to import their Pokemon from previous games.
They could have the full Pokedex in the games without having every Pokemon in them and just give fans the option to import them from other games. Finally, someone posted an accurate review though, so props for that Ms. Holly Green.
Do those people really love Pokemon? It's the fans who are criticizing these games; fans who have a clear fondness for the ins and outs of a solid entry in this series, and know exactly how such a game should play, and what kinds of features and content it should have. The people you describe clearly just enjoy the surface of Pokemon. I guess they might love Pokemon, but their status as true fans is questionable if they've never dived deeper than just "look, cool new Pokemon&q...
It's the first set of mainline Pokemon games on a console. Of course fans want more with these entries, and not less than what they had before with the 3DS games.
Clearly they don't want people being able to catch them all with just one game. The problem is, they shouldn't be charging the full price of a standard console release for each version, and because they were handheld titles in the past, it's only been a thing with the Switch games.
Needing more than one version has also been largely unnecessary since it stopped being possible for one set of games to have every single Pokemon in them, and we're past the poi...
You know it's Pokemon fans who are criticizing this latest release, right? Some of that is coming from a resistance to the changes being made with these new releases. That's not to say that Pokemon fans don't want change, they just want the right change. The classic Pokemon formula clearly holds up well enough for its fanbase. But, no one wants to pay $60USD or $80CAD for the same game they already have. They want something that expands on what's already there in a meanin...
They couldn't pay me to beta test this garbage. Hence, I will not be buying one.
Well, the critics seem to love these games. The fans don't seem to though, and they make a much more persuasive argument.
Dude, do you know who it is who's criticizing these games? Pokemon fans! As in, people who are big into this franchise. These aren't haters trying to downplay Nintendo or in this case, second party IPs. It's people who have supported this series for over a decade at least, if they weren't around for gen 1 (I'm sure many of the critics of these games have been fans since then). If anyone knows the ins and outs of what makes a good Pokemon game, it's them, and if th...
It is true that a lot of the PC elites prefer Linux, but I think converting away from Windows would be a hard-sell for the average consumer due to the sheer prevalence of Windows.
Has this journalist been around at all in 2019? I sometimes wonder how often these individuals pick up a controller.
Why am I not surprised? They’re cutting other corners, so why not art assets?
I'm torn about this collection. I missed these games and am glad they made a comeback. I think the emulation is solid, and the extras are nice. Even with all that though, and the different versions, I can't really say there's enough here to justify getting this over the myriad of other collections that are priced similarly or maybe even for less that have way more in the way of game selection. You can't put a price on nostalgia, I guess? It still might be worth waiting fo...
None, I'm not buying it.
Game companies do that all the time. They release an entry in a series one would assume is the nth entry, only for it to turn out that no, it isn't. I think they just thrive on confusing people. Also, sometimes non-numbered entries in series are treated like spin-offs while numbered ones are considered mainline. If a new Bioshock were to be announced though, I really don't think we need another Rapture sequel. I'd rather see something completely different, or perhaps a Columb...
I believe that vid was centered around indie efforts. Digimon, Yokai Watch and other such properties are certainly good alternatives that further justify giving Gamefreak the finger. It's also worth noting though, that they're big enough departures from the Pokemon formula that they're not wholly identical, and although I'm sure that will be true of these indie efforts too, they certainly seem to be closer to the mark of what fans are wanting in a modern Pokemon game.
You keep grasping at straws trying to justify your overpriced paperweight, Google, and paying third parties to do it for you. I'm still not interested.
Are you insinuating that Nintendo can auto-win a holiday season with a single entry in one of their household franchises, even if they or second party studios cut corners and produce a half-baked product? I suppose you could be right, but I hope not as that will simply reinforce the notion that they do not need to try very hard, and as a result, we will continue to see "controversial" corner-cutting in future Nintendo products. I'm assuming you will support Nintendo no matter ...
@link2Dpast Because, trying to amass a collection of every Pokemon one can acquire is kind of the point of the franchise. They don't need to have every Pokemon in every game as that would be a ridiculously tall order, but having the option to import Pokemon from other games is a must.
Besides, defending laziness on the grounds of "it's just for kids" is not a good defense at all. Some of the greatest IPs have been kid-friendly, but they're considered...
