You feel sorry for people who have different tastes than you? I feel as though your pity is misplaced as there are people, places and things in this world that merit a far greater degree of concern.
No. Even if the "mixed reception" hadn't landed considerably more on the positive side of things to the point where I doubt we can even call it such, even a truly divisive title won't kill us. What it does tell us is that it's the kind of game that's for a certain type of audience and not for absolutely everyone, but that's true of pretty much every piece of media anyways. Even the most insanely popular of IPs aren't loved by every single human being on Ea...
I’m hesitant to get involved in Hong Kong’s politics, not only because I don’t have a drop of Asian blood in me, but mostly because there is enough in the way of BS politics going on in my backyard. However, I don’t think I can in good conscience support a company that’s pro-fascism.
I will say it sure as heck landed well on the positive side of mixed reception. In any case, there are plenty of ways to gauge whether a game is worth playing in this day and age with reviews being just one of them. Also, gamers knew that the critical reception of this one would be mixed anyways. That it scored as high as it did may have actually encouraged more sales.
Gears has a good chance at some GotYs this year as the industry will elevate anything MS has to offer that resembles a decent game.
If that ends up being the case the PS4 version will still be on the table at that point in time.
I'm looking through Kojima quotes right now to try and figure out his mindset.
There's this one: "With a movie, it's probably easier to sustain intensity and seriousness over the 90-minute duration. But in an open-world game it becomes exhausting, demotivating and even uninteresting for the player."
Or this: "I believe that even today we can only tell a simple story without really interfering with gameplay. But in the future,...
While I’d agree that people should play games and draw their own conclusions rather than depending on critics and arbitrary scores to tell them what to play, games are more than the sum of their parts. Some games are all about fun gameplay, while others are about the experience.
Heck, one of my personal GotYs this year is The House in Fata Morgana Dreams of the Revenants Edition, and it’s not a fun game to play, mostly because it’s a visual novel which consists entirely ...
I don’t think I want to know what IGN Kool-Aid tastes like, but this guy sure is chugging it.
IGN...why am I not surprised? At least you kept your score above the troll range, so I’ll give you credit for that.
I do question how professional some critics are though, especially game critics and especially IGN. I really don’t know how IGN scores their games but it seems to often be different from most critics, especially on PS4 titles.
Let's hope it flops, for the good of the future of gaming.
I stupidly chose to order this from Best Buy rather than Amazon as I really want a physical copy and the Amazon listing is a good $25CAD+ more expensive and seems to be a PEGI copy (implying it's being shipped from the UK), whereas the Best Buy listing is for $39.99CAD. Unfortunately, I misread "ships in two days" as delivered in two days, which couldn't be further from the case. Apparently it shipped today and I can expect it in 8 days. All the more reason why I usually ...
It's all well and good Bethesda if you want to smoke cigars with the likes of EA, Activision and Ubisoft, but if you want to make the consumer hate you, you need something to keep them coming back. EA has Star Wars (hopefully not for much longer by the sound of things), Battlefield, and is part of a duopoly in the sports game market (with their competitor also being quite crooked). Activision has CoD, and has cashed in quite heavily on nostalgia with their Crash and Spyro remakes. Ubis...
Awesome! There are a lot of hints in there but whatever they end up doing sign me up.
It was already ruined. Who on Steam wants EA's trash? Is it really worth it just so we can say they now have Steam-ing piles of horse feces?
Lulz.
Why should a company copy someone else's game just because you happen to like that game? Let Diablo be Diablo and Souls be Souls. If you want a Souls game...go play one of those...seriously, what's stopping you?
And people need to stop supporting them and support the devs and publishers with actual integrity instead.
PlayStation exclusives, console exclusives and timed exclusives in particular need to sit at a score of 90 or higher or the games media will be "concerned". If Death Stranding were a Nintendo or MS exclusive, console exclusive or timed exclusive, or a multiplat, there wouldn't be this level of "concern" because that's how "unbiased" journalism works these days.
