Well, that's not surprising. It had a really good run, but eventually the lifecycle of older systems has to end so that more focus can go to current systems, and that's clearly what's happening with the 3DS and Switch.

Dude, the Switch could have so much more if they rolled out VC. But, Wood Hawker (from the BeatEmUps YouTube channel) actually managed to make me at least see that there may be a good reason why it's not on the Switch. He's the first to successfully convince me to see another side to it (funny how random unexplained disagrees on N4G don't have that effect). He argued that it's possible Nintendo wanted various devs including smaller indie devs to want to put their games on t...

@Fist4achin It probably has to do with how they used that money rather than that they used it. Google probably assumes they can just throw money at things and they will work themselves out. They're Google, so of course they're going to be that kind of arrogant. But, a little research behind what people want in the kind of product they tried releasing would have gone a long way. That they couldn't be bothered to do that speaks to that kind of arrogance.

Altho...

It's hard to believe now that they and Capcom were once rivals who pushed one another to do better, and in many respects were equal in my eyes. The only reason Capcom emerged as the clear winner was because Konami pulled the plug to focus on releasing Pachinko machines that only Japanese gamblers care about.

In fact, Capcom is a great example of where I still wish Konami was to this day as although they haven't been perfect by any stretch, they've released a ...

I will say that they did good with the Castlevania Collection (the only one I've checked out so far). But, that's not exactly what I would consider new game development. I'm sure a degree of time and effort goes into porting games over, but these are simple retro titles and it's doubtful it's nearly as time and resource intensive as developing a new game.

Production costs for new titles? I'll believe it when I see it. What have they made lately other than Rogue Corps and a bunch of...admittedly decent retro collections?

More like where corrupt companies are aiming for the digital future to go, and while I hope data caps improve in the future I'm all for anything that convinces people to stick with distribution methods that give the consumer more control.

2323d ago 11 agree0 disagreeView comment

Yeah, this is all one big ploy to take control away from the consumer. At least Sony and MS will continue to offer other ways to play games besides streaming (even if I believe MS will lean more and more towards it).

To add insult to injury though...Google just couldn't be bothered to release a system that was any good. If they wanted to convince people to set aside their disdain for buying into what is essentially a box built around one service, they should have rele...

Well, he doesn't need a Konami IP to make a good horror game. If anything, not being stifled by the need to create a sequel could make for an even better product. I love Silent Hill, but it has run its course and I look forward to the potential of something new.

Ok, I'm actually with Nintendo on this one. That company clearly played with fire...while surrounded by many flammable things...doused in gasoline. I think it's a dick move when companies cease and desist non-profitable fan products, but this is a company clearly cashing in on someone else's IP to make money. What did they think was going to happen? This is Japan too, where you would think the vast majority of people have the intelligence to know something this basic.

The correct answer here is the first level of many a retro game, because no matter how far you get into the game, you have to start at level 1 ever single time...unless you use save states or features like rewind of course. But, if you played these games in the past, that wasn't an option.

Agreed, although the beauty of this franchise is that there are both cutesy and light-hearted and darker and more mature games, and games that fall somewhere in between. Zelda games tend not to stick with one tone unless they're direct sequels, and even then they could feel completely different than their predecessors. So, it's also fitting that Zelda games don't stick to one art style either, and I think Nintendo is good at picking the right look for a given game.

Eh...the thing with the Legend of Zelda franchise is that Nintendo is not married to any one art style, yes, but that is so they can pick an art style that suits the game in question. The cutesy art style of the Link's Awakening remake really suits it, but Breath of the Wild also has its own art style that really suits it. So no, as much as I like the Link's Awakening art style, I like it in that game and can't support it being the art style of choice for Breath of the Wild 2. ...

Lucas, you toot your own horn a little too much. There's no point in complaining about the quality of your articles because that would imply they're worth the thought.

GF could also make an official Pokémon MMO. That would be too awesome though, so it’s not going to happen. I haven’t checked out Temtem yet but I’m looking forward to trying it out when I have time. What I read here is just making me even more stoked.

Even if that were to be the case, it would take a lot more than that to revive a dead system. I think it’s well past the CPR stage and into the seance stage.

Do...I actually agree with Phil Spencer on something? Is the world ending?

2325d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

Yep. MS's stance on not having XSX exclusives for at least a good year after launch certainly isn't helping in that regard.

Well, it really depends on what kinds of things happen late at night. There are plenty of E-rated ways to present late night content as we're really just referring to a different time. The kinds of stock you see at shops doesn't have to be anything that pushes the ratings, and the night events don't have to be T-rated affairs.

@-Foxtrot The nocturnal animal thing would actually be kind of neat. I skipped the previous Animal Crossing as I wasn't in a hurry...

I'm not sure if this PoS is even worth the thought to put it under fire unless you're one of the unfortunate few who were suckered into buying one of these things, in which case you're a fool. Also, this industry only has room for one annoying and conceited Phil who's out to boost his ego, and Phil Spencer owns that persona more than Phil Harrison can ever hope to.

Oh, and telling people something is the future, and making a fantastic enough product that pe...
