At least Nintendo has picked a gimmick that’s core gamer friendly with none of that “levelling the playing field” with horrid motion control BS. To my understanding motion control still technically exists but is uncommon enough that it’s not a big deal.

More importantly, the Switch is a system that not only offers both the handheld and console experience, but also allows for local multiplayer pretty much anywhere you can find a flat surface. Add great indie support in add...

That has more to do with the software than the hardware, I think. Hopefully the Switch’s online infrastructure will improve eventually through updates, but you won’t need to buy another Switch for that.

Probably to just keep doing what they’re doing. It seems to be working for them. They should absolutely be mindful that new systems are coming, but I don’t think they need to change their strategy.

Good to know. Good thing I take the route Nintendo can’t punish me for. I only buy first party Nintendo titles when there’s a big sale, such as Black Friday. It’s probably why my Switch is full of more indie titles than anything, many of which I scored on sale for $1 or less.

Hard sell huh? That’s an understatement if I’ve ever heard one. I’m terribly sorry that too all of your friends have too much common sense to get one of these things.

Really? That series is at best low-tier for me when it comes to multiplayer titles. It was a fun novelty when it first happened, but now it's become old-hat. I guess it's decent and harmless fun, but I'd much rather play Smash, Mario Kart or even Mario Party than that pile of meh, not to mention a variety of great multiplayer-oriented indie titles that can be had for much less. There are certainly worse ways to spend your time and money, and worse games out there in the multip...

While that is true, in Japan in particular handheld gaming is an even bigger deal than in the rest of the world, and when you take the concept of a handheld and make it double up as a console, that just eats even more into the console share of Japan's gaming market...or adds to it? Whatever the correct term is here, the Switch is taking some market share from the PS4.

Sure, the PS4 has more to offer for the at-home gamer by virtue of having more power and better online...

I'm certainly of the type who would rather a physical game come with a case. Otherwise, I may as well just go with a digital copy of the game as that's what I would be getting anyways.

I plan to wait...indefinitely as I never intended to buy one.

About time. I mean, it's not as though we don't like Fire Emblem, but maybe consider using more characters from other franchises too? When one franchise is over-represented it means that we often don't get characters from others that fans would love to have in the game due to there being only so many fighters added per season.

I'm sure they can find a closeish Fire Emblem equivalent to him.

I've never thought of him as evil per se. He is cunning and seems to care more about dollar signs than individuals. Amoral? Yes. Evil? Possibly, but he's not Voldemort. I would say Scrooge is an example of a much worse business-oriented individual.

That said, the philanthropist angle is probably why philanthropy is commonplace among wealthy business types. It's so you can say "well, that individual may be rich, but they do some good things with some ...

Neat, but...wouldn't native high-res images (whether it be 4K, 8K or whatever's popular these days) still look better?

This probably goes hand-in-hand with MS's strategy of all their games being compatible with XB1 for at least the first year of the XSX.

The thumbnail makes no sense as I don't think even Google is betting much of anything on the Stadia anymore.

But, what about Tifa's boobs. Are they accurate? Sorry, I couldn't resist referencing another bad FFVII related article that I read...or at least read the headline of and left a derisive comment on. In both cases the correct response is, who cares?

Come to think of it, I haven't seen a CCN article in a while.

You're not wrong, but in all fairness, it is in a different point in its lifespan than either the other current systems or the ones coming soon. All the more reason why I don't think of Nintendo systems as explicitly belonging to one gen or another, at least not since the Wii.

I have said before that I think if Nintendo plays their cards right and focuses on the reasons why the Switch has been a success, it can still do quite well in spite of the arrival of new systems. However, it's bound to slow down before long as that happens with all systems eventually, while the new systems will be picking up steam. While that doesn't have to spell doom and gloom for what has been a fantastically successful system, it is something to be mindful of. At least it will...
