Yes and no. They used the same strategies they used with the PSP later in its life. The PSP did coast on third party support, largely from Japanese devs, in its later years. The big difference was that the PSP had already amassed a large enough install base by that point. New systems can't just "coast" in the same way older systems can. Japan and the indie scene may have somewhat salvaged the Vita, but it never got anywhere near PSP numbers.
Sure, Sony ha...
It topped 80 Million units in a market where Nintendo has always held dominance, and it was Sony's first handheld. I don't think they're too upset about being second then. If they had repeated the same strategies they used to get the PSP into homes with the Vita, maybe it could have had similar success.
It would defeat the purpose of the X if they had a rule that all XB1 titles had to look and run equally well on the S, so I don't they would have such a rule.
It's only "do or die" for the Bioware name that EA likes to put on some of their games.
I had no idea many Xbox fans were into Japanese IPs, let alone subs-only releases aimed at hardcore fans of Japanese media. Colour me impressed. I still think it's a noobish mistake to invest in an Xbox to play Japanese games, but it's good that Xbox fans aren't denied all such titles.
No, but MTs in games we have to pay for are.
That's great news, but it took them long enough.
Let's let sales determine whether the majority think the system is held back by lack of exclusives.
There are two ways for MTs to be done right. 1. For the game itself to be free. 2. For the game to not have MTs.
I love my Vita, but it's a hard sell to newcomers at this point. If you want a Vita now you either have to buy one used or pay through the nose for one. Don't get me started on the hoops you need to jump through to get memory cards now. There aren't nearly as many new games coming out for it now than there have been even if you do like Japanese and/or indie games. That said, it is a solid system. If you currently own one then there's plenty of reason to keep using it in 2...
"Unlike other previous entries in the Persona series, in Persona 5, you are only able to date women..." Ummm...what? As opposed to past Persona games where you could date guys? Oh wait, that only ever happened in the female version added to Persona 3 Portable. Not to be pedantic, but that line confuses me.
The latest Mass Effect isn't all that great as a dating game compared to other entries in the series, and neither is the first game, but I'm assumin...
Opinions on subjective topics are always biased. I don't think we should give the opinions of one group more weight than any other, but there is usually a good reason why some games are 50 or 100 times GotY winners. Still, opinions are opinions which is why I personally don't care much about the whole GotY thing and think it's a tad overrated. On the other hand, it can be a useful tool to decide what games from the past year to invest in so I guess it's not completely witho...
I'd love it if Super Mario 3D World got ported over. TBH though I'm holding out for the VC. Otherwise, I'm just not that concerned about ports. I'm more interested in what Ninty has in the pipeline for new titles.
It's not. It might be for MS depending on what they decide, but MS =/= the entire industry. Good day.
Why make it bigger? It would be harder to carry then and it's already bigger than any handheld Nintendo's ever had. If you make it smaller, it won't function well as a screen for multiplayer titles, especially ones with splitscreen. I think the current Switch size is about the only size that works.
I've long since stopped giving critics the time of day. They can be spot-on, but far too often it seems like they're out of touch with what gamers think of games. I've also long since developed enough intuition that I can usually tell if I would enjoy a game before I buy it anyways without needing the help of critics.
You mean the series that stars Disney characters yet is somehow as complex a continuity as Metal Gear Solid except where all entries pretty much require knowledge of previous entries to make sense (thus rendering it worse to try and follow than MGS in that regard), will have yet another entry that requires prior knowledge of past games? Who would have thought? /s
With the way Kingdom Hearts was spread out across multiple systems until the recent collections, it's like ...
I don't think the Switch is too hung up on motion control. It will continue to be an option for game devs, but unlike the Wii it won't be shoehorned into everything whether it needs it or not. I still recall the pain of having to hold my Wii remote out to keep an in-game camera steady. Here's hoping nothing like that will ever be a thing on the Switch.
I strongly disagree with the argument in number two though. I don't own a PSVR and while I may get one ...
Well, this is what happens when MS buys out a company like Rare, when they're even working on a game to begin with that is. This game sounded like it had potential. Too bad the EA of console producers had to kill it.
By that logic JRPGs should have their price dropped to try and compete with the latest shooters. Two very different experiences appeal to different kinds of gamers, which aren't mutually exclusive, but it's still a good idea for the devs and publishers of a title to know its niche so they can best reach that audience first and foremost. Besides, some titles are far more niche than others and trying to divert fans from a much bigger franchise just isn't going to work.
