Indeed. They're not the ones we should be worrying about, but don't tell that to these journalists.
It will if the consumer lets it. I for one don't feel like letting companies like EA and MS tell me what my favourite hobby will look like though. I'll decide for myself what I want gaming to look like going forward and that will determine which systems I invest in, whether or not to invest in various services, and which games I will ultimately buy.
Sales figures say otherwise. Troll harder.
Of course the companies in second and third place will latch on to anything they can to try and change up the status quo, but Sony's still way ahead with no signs of that changing anytime soon.
I imagine digital will slowly but surely make up more and more of game sales, but almost 100% in four years is highly unlikely. Figures are probably inflated considerably by mobile being digital-only and the popularity of services like Steam on PC. Console gamers sometimes go all digital, but most I know still prefer physical games when they're an option. I don't see any sign of a not insignificant chunk of gamers changing their tune in the next four years.
They're most likely talking about different SKUs, not different systems. Maybe they are planning for another mid-gen upgrade next gen, but I don't think they will launch with two systems with different specs simultaneously.
Don't worry, it isn't. The option for game streaming may exist, but I'd rather it not become the sole means of playing games and it seems like many others feel the same way. What the corrupt companies pushing for streaming and GaaS to take over don't get is that it's up to the consumer what catches on and what doesn't. If they want to start a war with us, let's make it clear that it isn't one they can win.
If they actually use these studios to produce more than one title, then yes.
I think Sony has both the short and long-term planned out pretty well.
It's sad that we live in an era where this is a good statistic. Looking at trophy lists you'd think most gamers suck at videogames. Still, that the ratio of completion for God of War is higher than most is a testament to how engaged players are. Given that the game has sold millions that means millions of players have beaten this game.
Hmmm...should gamers be worried about the console brand consistently moving the most units? Nah.
It could. It could also be the PS4's biggest success or anything in between. What's with all these "___ PS4 exclusive could flop" articles lately? Seems like some people are just jealous that their console of choice isn't receiving as many exclusives.
Is this another Sony lost in spite of showing better games article? Pass.
Isn't this the company that just announced they would be adopting GAAS for their model going forward? Contradictory much? Singleplayer games should never be tied to a service.
Considering the system should have been able to emulate games from the Nintendo systems at launch, this just proves that it doesn't take too many people to do what a corporation somehow can't. Too bad this will be shut down as it's illegal. I look forward to the day when Nintendo isn't too cheap/lazy to get their legal emulators up and running.
I still think they edged out a win this E3, and the Fortnite issue isn't even their problem to fix. Also, it's not like they were trash talking or bragging or anything. Last gen's trash talk and overconfidence was blown way out of proportion but they did say those things. I haven't seen braggart Sony in a long time.
I'm pretty sure scantily clad female characters never went out of style. Did I cross over from the Berenstein universe or something?
That's too bad. I kind of liked WB, but I refuse to invest in any IPs by studios that choose GaaS for their model.
Ok, but that doesn't seem to be translating to more people buying XB1s than its competitors.
And that's a good thing. I prefer when different systems have their own identities over having two or more systems that are so similar there's no point in owning both.
