Nintendo has certainly banked a lot on nostalgia in recent years, and it has worked on a lot of people, but mileage may vary. People who have fond memories of the past are a great source of revenue as the often hold a rose-coloured glasses view of companies who were a part of that past.

To be fair, Nintendo was legitimately on top for at least a couple gens, and that's because they actually did understand the industry at the time, and were even trailblazers to an ext...

I love Nintendo but they often fall into a few different traps. One is that the company that once had their finger on the pulse of the industry seems to have gotten lost in the transition to the more modern industry as we know it now, and they still carry a fairly old-fashioned mindset that, while not inherently wrong, may not always reflect what people want in games and systems nowadays. They compensate on this front, and smartly so, by really appealing to nostalgics for the old days of Ni...

I don't think it's my favourite in the series, but it's not my least favourite either and is certainly underrated and well worth checking out.

Makes sense. I personally stopped cheating at games many years ago as I came to the realization that I only cheated because there were certain games I couldn't beat otherwise, and that just didn't sit well with me. So, I decided to just get better so that I could beat games legit and I have since had a lot more fun with games. I don't need to seek out a challenge to get fulfillment, but I love the sense of accomplishment I feel when I do overcome a frustrating stage or boss, am...

In all fairness, it has a good decade of hype behind it. Here's hoping this is one such title that will actually live up to the high bar set for it as many games that come out of development hell do not. We don't have to wait much longer to find out though.

I don't think it's the best in the series by a longshot, but it's no Mass Effect: Andromeda or Fallout 76.

I disagree. Bruce Wayne would have just gotten in the way of being Batman, which is what this series nailed the most. Telltale (RIP) offered a great option for someone looking for a story that explores the duality of Batman and Bruce Wayne, largely because its trademark style of branching narrative lent itself really well to that sort of thing. For a straight-up action title, Bruce Wayne just wasn't a good fit, so I think Rocksteady made the right call there. Of the two series I prefer...

People still look at review scores? If I must check out reviews for a game, which I normally don't need to do anymore to gauge general reception, I tend to avoid the big name sites that are a little too influenced by their shareholders, and I actually read reviews rather than just looking at their scores. Personally though, I can usually tell whether something is going to be worth checking out before it even releases, and I normally wait for price drops on AAA titles, so I usually hear ...

That's probably because it's the top brass that's doing this. They fail to consider that maybe I want to keep having ownership over the games I pay for, among other things, but there's no reasoning with a suit in a nice office with a waterfront view who puts his feet up on a mahogany desk and thinks of me and you as nothing more than pawns. Well, these companies can count on having at least one fewer pawn to work with.

Well, I for one don't support companies that resort to unethical business practices and try to tell me what I want. With any luck the upheaval will be the removal of the cancer that is these companies in the form of them filing for bankruptcy due to their customer base dwindling.

I think the handheld aspect is a bigger deal to Japan than quirky tech, but yes, they love that too.

Well, good for the Switch. Props to the PS4 for doing as well as it has in a market where home consoles are an increasingly hard-sell, but Nintendo clearly made the right choice for their home market by going with a console/handheld hybrid.

Way to spin Xbox selling the least units even in its home country. I suppose selling over a million units is good, but the competition did better, and this isn't even taking the rest of the world into consideration.

The XB1 will never dominate. MS should give up that fight and work on giving their next system something resembling a fighting chance.

Spider-Man, because swinging through New York is so much fun that it's difficult to go back to walking in games.

As long as I can keep web blossoming it’s all good. This is hardly the only suit with no associated power.

I enjoyed the game without this, but it's good to know Insomniac listens to its fans. I'll give it a try at least. So, between that and the new DLC that's four new suits to enjoy!

That Medievil remake will hopefully be solid. CTR will also be nice, assuming it fits on one disc. Resident Evil 2 also has me stoked. Why am I obsessed with remakes?

Well, like it or not we're stuck with this idiot for the foreseeable future, Mueller investigation notwithstanding. He does enough egregious things that I'm willing to just enjoy the moment when he actually does something right. This is a discussion about something Donald did that I agree with, so on this count I'm willing to give him credit where it is due.
