Huh?
Well, it's only a possibility they're mulling over, and they've had a great deal more success in the handheld market, with their latest "console" being a hybrid console/handheld. Moreover, their home market is moving away from home consoles in favour of devices they can enjoy on the go, and which don't need a home theater setup that would be a tall order in those single occupancy apartments many Japanese people rent. It wouldn't be completely out of left field ...
Under MS's watch, I don't think that's going to happen. At least they're not EA...but I don't think they're that much better.
I would assume it's because running your mouth early is not an advantage in this industry. Sony can now hear what MS is doing and either carry on or decide to tweak their strategy accordingly. Given that this is MS we're talking about, they will probably go with the former, but it still gives them a leg up that MS doesn't have. Also, is there a rule that a company needs to talk about what it's planning? I get that we live in an age of instant gratification, but just becaus...
@Jimbons I only had the first one too, but decided to get books 2 and 3 as well recently. It seems like with book 4 it's difficult to acquire new unless you want to pay an arm and a leg, but it can be acquired used fairly easily (though be mindful of condition). I did manage to find a seller from the UK on Amazon that had it for a reasonable price and reasonable shipping. There's also a seller in the US that has it for a reasonable price too, but as I live in Canada shipping would ...
I think the author is referring to individual games being multiplatform releases as opposed to individual releases being exclusive to one platform or another. Or at least that's how I'm reading it. Sure, the series isn't Playstation exclusive but some of the releases have been, while others have been Nintendo exclusive, and Vesperia was an Xbox 360 exclusive in the West. Sure some titles got different editions released later on other platforms but that release was specific to t...
Yeah. I guess the company behind the game declaring bankruptcy and laying off all its staff would do it. At least that's a tangible reason for such a cancellation.
I decided investing in some more Fables Deluxe Editions might help me feel better. By the way, what's up with Deluxe Edition Four? Is it out of print or something? None of the others seem to be.
I’m shocked! /s In all seriousness who didn’t see this coming given MS’s track record this gen.
^This too. Telltale doesn't own anything they've produced in recent years as it has all been licensed stuff. I'd love it if Monkey Island and Sam and Max could survive, but they may as well have been dead anyways given that Telltale changed their focus years back.
timotim: That's not fabrication. MS has clearly paid off the games media to play up everything they do and downplay everything the competition does. They've been more bark than bite this gen. I do hope for their sake these new studios will give them some more bite, but they'll need to do the opposite of their track record. Skippy Paccino: I don't think they're deserving of zero attention, as they have done some stuff and continue to do stuff, but they definitely don...
What's all this nonsense about a second team? All these studios need is one team to produce something. A second team would let them tackle more projects, but these studios clearly don't even have a first team working on something. Expansion is something to do when they're already operating on all cylinders, but they're clearly not even doing that.
You're right about MS not having much history with creating big franchises, but that's their own bl...
That's the very definition of a multiplat dev, as their games have literally been on every relevant platform that could run them. I think they're six feet under and not coming back, but if anyone is to buy them out and revive them it should be a third party company. Letting a console manufacturer buy them out would just delay their already apparent death, and probably not by much. In any case, I'd love for them to return and make a second season of The Wolf Among Us, but I'...
That's only good news if they actually intend to use these studios for more than one game, the quality of that studio's output doesn't drop, and the studio isn't completely forgotten about in the near future only to be quietly closed. What I'm saying is, I'm not sure why MS needs to go on such a shopping spree when they already have studios they could actually be using, but for whatever reason continue to choose not to, assuming they haven't outright dumped them. ...
Gamers who like their options don't limit themselves to one system though. There's a difference between having a system of choice and being a stubborn fanboy. I prefer my PS4 and use that as my primary system, but if there's a game I want on another platform, I'll either get that other platform if I don't already have it, or decide that said platform isn't worth it and live with not being able to play that game. Generally speaking though, I have more than one system...
Just get a PS4 already.
Crossplay again? Don't these sites have fresh material anymore, or at least another dead horse to beat? This one is literal dust at this point, just saying, and it's not nearly as big a deal to most people as the gaming media is making it out to be. Sure, it's a great idea, but it's not like life doesn't go on without it. It's funny the author mentions that there's more to life than just Fortnite as that's literally the thing people were setting the interne...
As expected, the gap between the PS4 and XB1 has been steadily widening, while the gap between the XB1 and Switch has been steadily dwindling.
In a year full of excellent releases including RDR2, Fallout 76 should have been excellent as well, but Bethesda clearly didn't get the memo. I also really dislike this tactic where companies release some lackluster title and then add stuff to it later to try and make it better, then complain that we don't give the game a proper chance when we don't exactly leap at the opportunity to come back to it. Here's an idea: how about making games that are worth playing from day one?...
The wait was long but we'll find out soon enough if it was worth it. From what little I've seen, I think it's shaping up to at least reach the high bar set by over a decade of hype, but I admit that with games like this one I purposefully avoid looking at much in the way of material on it because I don't like spoilers and I want to go into it as blind as possible, which is increasingly difficult in this day and age. While I'm not nearly the fan my friend is, I'm glad...
And what kind of videogames were people playing in 1938/39 that you're keen on checking out on current systems? Being a retro gamer is one thing, but being able to find a game that predates the entire medium, let alone a collection of them, would be an impressive feat. Please enlighten me as to what these titles are and why something that predates Pong or even the Brown Box is even worth playing. I would very much be interested in augmenting my knowledge of videogame history however, s...
