Epic is a real competitor to Steam now? Last I checked it was all wishful thinking on Epic's part. It's going to take a lot more than buying exclusive PC distribution of a Metro game to get them to compete with a giant like Steam. I get that they're trying to pull out all the stops to get themselves to the point of being a competitor, but I don't like that they had to step on countless toes of Steam users in their attempt to get there...and they're still so far from bei...

Well, yeah. What people forget is that even systems with “no games” often have at least hundreds. Such is the way of things in the digital age. I’m not knocking the Switch or its software lineup. I’m just stating facts. We live in a great age for content, that’s for sure.

Not to be cynical, but boasting that the game looks like what it's supposed to be is taking setting the bar low to a whole new level. I wonder what this journalist thinks is just passable.

While there’s some steep competition, most notably from Arkham City, I think I still have to give it to Spidey. It builds on the solid foundation laid out by the Arkham games while putting its own spin on things, and swinging through Manhattan is just so choice I’ve had difficulty going back to open world games where my character has to walk.

The Arkham games do deserve credit though for showing just how viable a superhero game can be, as well as how to make such a game....

That’s because some reviewers were sour that they couldn’t play Spider-Man on Xbox and gave it low reviews. Both are great games, mind you, and you can’t go wrong with either.

Can high school students still purchase guns, the actual tool used for school shootings, with no extra tax? If so, I fail to see how anything will change.

MS has had so many "comeback years" according to games journalism, but I have yet to see it, and I fail to see how this year is any different. Maybe their studio acquisitions will pan out in the way they're hoping, but I'm not expecting to see much of the fruits of that in 2019, and Sony and Nintendo aren't just going to roll over and release zero exclusives even when the newly acquired studios get the ball rolling.

They give a certain set of people the finger then beg them not to do the same back? Sure.

Pity they would choose EA of all companies to license their IPs to.

Yes and no. Sony and Nintendo are open to offering alternatives to the standard methods of acquiring games, but they've shown no signs of wanting to abandon consoles. Granted, they've also been way more successful than MS on the console front. Still, it seems to be Western AAA companies that are super motivated to push for a future where services are the norm rather than traditional consoles. MS seems to be in the same club as companies like EA, Activision and Ubisoft.

MS doesn't singlehandedly decide how the industry works. The only thing they can do is decide what their future will look like, and on that count I agree that they may not always be a traditional console manufacturer. Sure, they will likely stick around as one of the big three for a while yet, but they're clearly building themselves an out if they see more profit in a different niche. Sony and Nintendo will likely continue to provide consoles for those of us who want them well afte...

Shhhh...who needs facts? People would clearly rather read sensationalist articles that conveniently ignore facts that don't line up with whatever clickbait they wish to throw our way.

And yet the PS4 is still on top sales wise. I wonder where the doom and gloom articles about their competitors are? The Switch is doing pretty well but it has yet to outsell the PS4 beyond the occasional really successful month, and the XB1 isn't anywhere near either in terms of monthly or annual sales. I guess the latter is well past the point where there is any reason to bother writing doom and gloom articles as that would just be stating what we've known all gen.

I generally just go with the flow these days and if I need a new key to an ongoing library of games then so be it. I did stumble upon a poorly kept secret that allows me to get the latest system that I really want at launch, and ease the cost a little by spreading it out though, so there’s that. I’m perfectly content with my PS4 right now but if a PS5 gets announced and goes up for pre-order, I’ll put my name in for one and pay for it gradually over whatever period I have between then and l...

Neat. Capcom should add something like this as an extra mode or something. It would make me play through the game twice...which would technically be 8 times as although I haven’t played this yet, I definitely plan on doing Leon A, Claire B, then Claire A, Leon B at minimum, and I would have to double that if a fixed camera mode were an official thing.

It is true that exclusives sell, and I’m sure that applies just as well to these PC gaming storefronts/services as it does to consoles. The problem is, Steam has like a million exclusives and it would take more than just the exclusivity of a Metro game to compete with that. Also, that it was advertised on Steam is just going to make Steam users angry. Sure, I’m all for competition because no one should hold a monopoly, but I disagree with Epic’s methods.

Sony would likely win without BC, but I really hope their next system has it.

In 1998, 3D polygons with that level of detail were impressive. I now find the original RE2’s graphics charming with their retro aesthetic. The remake looks pretty good by modern standards, but there’s something to be said about what was accomplished with the classic game from a visual standpoint.

The touch pad is one of those features that’s there but severely under-utilized to the point of forgetting it’s even there, along with the speaker built into the controller. However, as a button for bringing up an in-game menu or map, it’s pretty great.

They did. They've tried to cheat the consumer plenty of times with their MTs, they've misled us into buying half-finished bug-fests, and perhaps one of the most egregious things they did was that time they tried to undermine the success of singleplayer games by circulating a rumor that they were dying off, just because their singleplayer games weren't selling as well as they had hoped. They're a bunch of crooks and anyone who gives them their money at this point is just aski...
