A MS IP adopting a GaaS model? What are the odds? /s I for one have no trouble believing this.

If these people are Anthem players, they must have bought the game. Ergo, they clearly don't know how boycotts work.

I wasn't aware this was coming to consoles. I might pick it up for my PS4 at some point.

There's something about a game with a defined beginning, middle and end that I can enjoy at my own leisure regardless of servers and whatnot that I find attractive, especially with the backlog I have. Singleplayer games can also be great for story and other aspects of a game's experience that I just can't get from a series of online matches in a FPS like whatever CoD game is the most recent. That's not to say the online multiplayer experience can't be great in its own ri...

What is anyone doing with their premium service? I fail to see how Sony's is so much worse than the competition that it needs to be brought up in an article.

Ummmm...good for them, I guess?

I’ll buy this argument if I ever hear of people beating someone to death with a game case or choking them out with a controller. Until then my stance is that people cause violent crime, not video games. Actually, even in the above example, it’s not like videogames are sentient beings who point a gun at people and make them do terrible things, and I don’t think I want to know what combination of drugs can make that so.

Also, why are 8 year olds watching porn? Where are th...

Indeed, PS exclusives tend to be great. Of course, even if you don't own one, you still have the option to play games like RDR2 and REmake 2 rather than GaaS garbage. A better question is, are some companies getting worse? The answer is yes.

Maybe I'm going blind, but what's wrong with this box art?

I find it amusing that I was born on Mario Day. I don't get any special discounts for it so it's just kind of a neat novelty, but it's a thing. I guess if I didn't come across my cousin playing Super Mario World on his SNES when I was four I might not have been a gamer or at least might not have gotten so into gaming from a young age, so cheers to Mario for getting me hooked on a hobby that drains my bank account every month.

Meh, beats that gen where GameFreak used three of their slots for new Pokemon on three monkeys that are identical other than their element. I don't think it's laziness that they're running into so much as the need to create more and more creatures and not have them be too much like any of the existing ones. I think that would be an increasingly tough job to have. What are they approaching now, 1000? If they're not going to be there yet with Sword and Shield they're get...

I question how AAA development is being managed by some companies, and think it’s far more accurate to say that their practices are what is unsustainable.

There are still great JRPGs out there. Persona 5 is the most recent example I can think of. I agree that we’re out of the JRPG renaissance though. There just aren’t as many solid JRPGs that come to mind from the current gen as there were in gens past. But, they’re still around if you look hard enough.

If I’m going to invest in such a huge HDD I can guarantee it won’t be for a B-list multiplat. I have nothing against The Division, but if a game’s going to be a total space hog that forces me to delete stuff and/or invest in more storage, it had better be worth rolling out the red carpet for. I just don’t think this game is worth it next to upcoming titles like Days Gone, and I’m sure that game won’t require so much data.

Well, certainly not in ours.

Perhaps so. It and Days Gone are looking to be a one-two punch.

This is true, but there are other games out there that deliver, and in this day and age a game needs to be more than just good to be a game changer. I think Zelda is great but slightly overrated.

I’m pretty sure every hardcore Zelda fan decided that. For everyone else, let’s wait and see how it is. Zelda games are usually great IMHO but Sony’s bringing some serious competition, and I don’t normally consider one title to be a nuke unless it’s really incredible. For an original Gameboy/GBC game the original was incredible, but no matter how much paint you slap on it, it has to compete with games built from the ground up for modern consoles. I’m sure it will be good but it hasn’t str...

Yep, this is the space-saving solution I’ve decided on. You’ve got a ways to go if you want to be as bad as EA Ubisoft, but please quit while you’re ahead for the sake of those who are supposed to buy your games.

What’s with AAA games doing this lately? I personally see 90GB as less of a patch and more of an entire quilt that’s on the large side. For those who prefer plain English to metaphors, 90GB is bigger than most games, and it’s really something that so much space is supposedly required to fix a few bugs and/or augment an already complete game’s content.

If this is the future...well, it’s not nearly enough to make me throw in the towel and stop following current gaming, bu...
