There were others. Maybe Modern Zorker would be interested in doing a piece on some of the others since these are pretty much forgotten bits of information (and hindsight is 20/20).
It was easy to overlook on the PSOne where the racing/arcade genre was much more competitive than on the game starved N64 crowd.
I was going to just pick several Die Hard games over the years on various systems but felt that would be cheating since they all universally better than this mobile release.
Did the Saturn version make it Stateside? I remember seeing it, or at least seeing the box, at Electronics Boutique but some people say it never made it Stateside.
It was a fairly early release.
Um, no. These are collecting apps useful to, well, collectors.
Not sure why the PS4 tag got clicked.
According to Nintendo, it is available now on the eShop.
I believe the hardcore gamer you are alluding to is still here, still buying games and still enjoying them (even if they have to wade through a ton of crap or features they don't care about). The problem is, the hardcore gamer is not enough to keep companies afloat - this is partly due to ever increasing budgets for games and dwindling returns.
For proof, just look at the platforms that have catered to the hardcore gamer in the past, and have died- Dreamcast, Neo Geo Poc...
That is why I mentioned Angry Birds Trilogy as an example. Are physical controls worth that much? Would they be a positive or a hindrance with a game such as Angry Birds?
I agree with you but those games you listed are not available on other platforms such as 3DS, PSP, PS Vita or DS. The article was aimed more at showing the price differences between the platforms with games that are cross platform.
Not sure why people bother posting a comment like yours there Trenta27. If you disagree with the article then why make it more popular by leaving a comment?
For everyone complaining about the price, look at it this way. $60 per copy and only 600 copies were made. That is $36,000 total to pull employee pay, cartridge manufacturing and marketing out of. That is skin of the teeth for sure.
The point of sites like N4G is to provide all kinds of news and information. Not everything posted here has to be an FPS or involve big boobed Anime style artwork in some fashion.
@MoveTheGlow That is the bare bones of the situation for far too many games over the last 15 to 20 years. If it is not a million dollar earner, no more in that series.
It also is a shame that so many gamers have grown lazy and simply will not dig into a game anymore. Instant gratification is to blame for this, I think. Gamers want everything NOW. They don't want to invest in a game if it is not knock your socks off every step of the way.
I actually liked the Rygar reboot and was saddened to realize it was not going to be an ongoing series (or at least improved upon on another system). Half baked? Sure but it was still better than it could have turned out, though it had plenty of room for improvement (it didn't, as you mentioned, follow the old storyline that well).
There were definitely more "sexual" pics to pick from for the set but I went with ones that were more "tasteful".
I would love to see more recent Neo Geo games on the Neo Geo X too. This new system could open the market up again for devs to create games on the hardware.
I agree, I wish they would also bring more of the Neo Geo shooters out on Android and iOS. There were simply so many good games that got overlooked due to the ongoing fighting game craze.
To VirtualKatz- This is a SCREEN SHOT post, not a PREVIEW. I don't understand your reasoning to mark this as lame when it is clearly a SCREEN SHOT post which does not usually come with an "analysis". Please check your dictionary for proper definitions on the differences.
