As I mentioned in the article, Sony has proven they will support their systems, even if they are not #1. That should speak volumes to consumers but probably falls on deaf ears for the most part.
I don't think they will drop the price too much too soon, Sony has a proven track record of releasing a better hardware revision later and adjusting the prices as needed then. I agree with you though, they really need to come in at the $199 price point for the wifi version.
Noticed you didn't go with the usual suspects in your list there (thankfully) such as Nights and Guardian Heroes (my ex-wife claimed that as grounds for our divorce, lol). Good list there, nice to know there are people out there that understand the fun of an action based arcade title like Die Hard Arcade.
Also, thanks for actually discussing some of the points for Deep Fear (such as the import friendliness of the title). I have heard good things about it but no one re...
I just discovered the comic book part of my PSP just last year (yes, I am a late comer to the on-line stuff). The previews and such were pretty cool but I was never inclined to purchase anything (for the most part, the digitals were just as pricey as the physical copies that don't require a charge to read).
EVERY company that releases anything uses buzz words like that to promote the product. Sure, early on the games are not going to be that great. Compare early efforts for any system to 2nd generation or 3rd generation games on that same platform (how about Altered Beast on Genesis versus Vectorman or Sonic 3 for example).
Sony has proven that they will support their systems and not let them die an early death (they proved this with the PSP). I plan on getting a Vita but i...
Michael (Modern Zorker) is a huge fan of adventure titles so it was a no brainer to give him this title for review. It is a great game and a great remake that shows care and love for the original source material.
Calling names only devalues your original statements even more. I am not being dense by using your own terms of the argument.
Regardless of the play value received by the consumer from the game, either shareware or a modern title, it is not alright to steal it and is a bad juxtaposition and a horrible way to relate your argument here.
Buying something like Ballad of Gay Tony for $19.95 does NOT give you the right to make, illegal, copies of it and give i...
I remember playing Doom for the first time on school computers, another student brought the shareware version into class and our teacher would let us come in during lunch and play it. Fun times.
No, the concept is not the same. For one, the companies that participated in shareware did so willingly. Companies do not willingly participate in piracy.
Second, you did not get the WHOLE game for free in that shareware package, that is why they SOLD the other episodes or volumes, no matter what they called it it was additional content to finish the initial freebie.
Please, since you obviously know more about this than me, provide proof of ANY compan...
I read the article and must simply, flat out, disagree with the general angle of the article on one simple premise. Shareware was not piracy. Shareware is when the developer willingly gave out, slightly bigger than a demo, versions of their games in hopes that gamers would like it and call the number to order a full version.
Piracy is when the the user takes the initiative to give out copies of the game themselves, regardless of what the publisher does about it. The comp...
The Turbo Duo was $299.99 at launch in the US (are you talking about another country?). Same for the Turbo Express, it was basically $300 at launch (and came with some HORRIBLE advertising- comparing the hand held to a port a john anyone?).
The Turbo Duo failed in North America due to the fact that the NA arm of the company had to clear EVERYTHING through the Japanese parent company and wait for them to act. This cost the company dearly in North America and possibly other...
I would have liked to see a little more meat on the bones of that article such as more history, a little bit of information on some of the better titles and something on the reasoning as to why the system failed here but was a behemoth in Japan.
I agree with you Jackson, that is why I don't support a lot of newer titles with purchases. Just not my cup of tea so to speak. The purpose of the article was just to point out a few wild licensed kart games.
I have about 25 episodes of your show on my phone to listen to and well, so far, I am not that impressed. It seems that you guys take a long, off topic, road to the content featured in the show title. I will be giving this one a listen sooner than later, hopefully the shows content is better presented.
Neither of these titles are "Neo Geo" titles. They are arcade titles by SNK, true, but they predate the Neo Geo system and weren't released on it so the name is misleading. Did SNK release these as "Neo Geo Station" titles or something?
The problem with "Buy to Play" is that well, the costs are still there for keeping servers online. Sure Blizzard offers this type of service (at least up to Diablo 3) but they are one of the few companies willing to run online games without a fee after the initial purchase.
Loving the show as always guys. You have improved week after week since I learned about you guys at around episode #48. Great job.
Not trying to complain too much but there was only one sentence about PSP in that whole article and it wasn't even anything interesting/useful to gamers.
When I check out the PSP section here, I like to read more substantial information than a one sentence rumor.
As I mentioned many MANY times already, I had shopped at this location for years, been friends with most of the staff there and enjoyed going there. It was this one time that ended it with me. If that is whining to you, then so be it, you are not changing anything more than I am by writing here either. It is life.
I have shopped at this location for several Christmas seasons, shopped with the franchise at various locations all the way back to before they bought out Ele...
I didn't think the article was coming off as angry. I wrote it to have a somewhat positive outlook for Sony and the Vita. I am extremely excited for the Vita, granted that Sony does things slightly differently than they did with the PSP.
