Shoot me a link to it when you are done. I may feature it on RGM in our "Reading Digital" column. This is a column I was doing on another site I own but figure it would get some good reaction from fans introducing them to more great gaming magazines.
As it is stated in the article (and here in the comments), this is a hack of Rygar. It is a "total conversion" of Tecmo's game.
They used Rygar as the base game for this hack so take that as you will.
Yeah, that would be pretty interesting to see how this would look on the SNES. What game would they use as the base though? Actraiser 2?
You should give Shining Force CD a try if you can grab it sometime (it goes cheap on Ebay from time to time but not often).
We will be featuring some Shining Force fan translations in the second issue of our magazine.
Thanks for the update. Last I had heard earlier this month, the second and third chapters were not completed yet on Saturn. That is great news for fans.
There are a lot of new games for old platforms coming out. We have a growing list on our site- http://retrogamingmagazine....
I liked Star Man and Fighter Hayabusa myself. It was hard to setup Hayabusa and his back of the head kick but it was devastating when you hit it.
Considering how hard it was to make the WWE version, I doubt they will do a TNA hack. I wish they would, but I doubt it will happen.
Nintendo could send a Cease and Desist to the dev but they usually only do that when there is money exchanging hands. Since this is a tech demo and apparently has no intention of being sold, they probably won't do much about it. They haven't so far.
The interesting thing about this is, the dev is doing it without licensed dev kits and doesn't have money motivating them. This is amazing if it was by professionals, it is mind blowing coming from an independent dev.
I am right there with you, I remember reading about Star Fox as it was developing and following along in EGM and Gamefan. Where did the time go?
Glad this article is hitting well with everyone here. I was nervous about posting it. lol
Glad you liked this one. We are working on getting more stories like this uncovered (we have a couple more).
When I started RGM, I didn't want to simply do reviews of Super Mario 3, but rather stuff like this- stuff hardly anyone is talking about. This is awesome stuff to me and will be placed on the front page of RGM as often as possible.
Something is better than nothing. I agree. I just wish indie devs would show some innovation and interest in other genres.
I understand why so many focus on shooters though. They are easier to create, require less animation (which is not cheap), etc.
It is a 2D side scrolling action/adventure/platformer that is hitting "16-Bit systems" also. Another version is hitting the NES:

I am glad it is not a shooter of any kind. Have we not had enough of those?
Since they are simply translating and porting the game their hands are probably tied as far as platforms go. It would be great to see these titles available in more widespread ways though.
This is not their first Genesis release, I believe it is probably #4 or #5 actually. So yeah, they are big fans. They also release stuff for PC and SNES.
It definitely looks interesting.
Glad people are recognizing the cover. Just shows the depth of interest in Snatcher and proof of how cool it is.
