We are working on adding more but it is a case of what is 'retro' and thusly should be listed?
So, according to you, it has to come out on a console or Nintendo/Sony branded hand helds to be worth playing?
Thanks! I try to go with longer lists, which requires posting later in the day but gives readers a more varied list of freebies.
kB0, I understand what you are saying. I will definitely take into account your suggestions on future articles like this.
I didn't take it as you were being rude (my apologies if I came off that way myself).
This is my last comment on this so I won't be able to reply to any more comments in the future.
Thanks for the suggestions.
Kb0, I meant that I recently discovered it and chose to write it up for my site.
Seeing the traffic coming in, the discussion it has started and general interest it has garnered means A LOT of people that are interested in Shenmue did NOT know about this version.
There will always be those "in the know" on these things that are all over them and there will always be people new to the scene or somehow missed it originally. Why deprive those gamers o...
This was just recently discovered and that is why I posted about it. It may be an old release but it is clearly not something many know about.
I am trying to fix that little problem.
The original PAL version of Shenmue II had Japanese voice overs with English, French and Spanish subtitles.
This is all four discs, complete with voices. So yes, this is finished.
They are using the original graphics that Infogrames released the first AitD with. They are also working on replacing as many of those graphics with newer models so it will offer both old and new graphics once released. That is part one. Part two runs, somewhat but has major bugs and part three doesn't run at all but those are just icing on the cake as the focus is the first game.
We have more Dreamcast love coming this week so keep an eye on our site. We have to spread them out a bit for the safety of our fans consciousness.
I wish they would bring out a bit more variety in their re-releases. Where are Ristar, Eternal Champions, etc?
They constantly bring the same 10 or so games to newer consoles and call it a day.
Yes. It was Sega's last console, they discontinued it around 2001.
Yep. Apparently you can buy the physical discs directly from EA.
It was a year ago. The historic part is the actual game that is being re-released.
I had this game early on, it was just so different and as I mentioned in the article, Sega was left with nothing really comparable to show. Daytona USA was simply not in the same league.
Sony bought Psygnosis (makers of Wipeout) and eventually closed the studio and moved assets internally (personnel, properties, etc).
Sad really.
There have been comments about less than professional things over on Youtube and Anna has taken it in stride. She is a cool person to work with for sure.
The quality is quite impressive when taken into account, these are fans doing it for the love of the franchise rather than financial gain.
These deals seem like good collector's items. They are not cheap to acquire.
Very true. I miss these types of games, the ones that are tough but fun to play and they beckon you to try one more time even though you know you are going to fail.
@GT67 I understand where you are coming from but services such as Steam don't exactly have a wide variety of those titles available.
