Honestly, I was expecting this to be a mobile title, not a PC title. It definitely is weird.
I loved this game. If I had a PS3, I would just get the HD remake with the other games.
Me too. That is why I chose this to be our first post on GoS.
Konami has remade Contra on DS, I believe and a 2D homage on PS2 (both sold crappy numbers), R-Type has been remade on PS2 by Fresh Games by Eidos in R-Type Final, again low sales. Konami hasn't done much with Gradius as of late (the last decade) that I know of and Einhander would be Square Enix, I believe.
Still would love to see remakes of them all on Android, iOS, PS Vita or 3DS since ALL of the companies involved are working on those platforms in some form or anoth...
There is a game that was reviewed based on that show. The reviewer just made a point of declaring that they were a fan of the show, justifying their position for reviewing the game.
Hopefully fans will jump on this game, I mean, look at those shots. That dragon, the octopus and other creatures are all rendered great and animate wonderfully. This is first gen too.
From an e-mail between me and the developers it was revealed that the Wii U version is running in a slightly higher resolution than other console versions. Looks awesome, I know that.
It is really good. I wrote the review and have been playing Paper Monsters for over a week now trying to pull away and write it up. Growing up with 8-Bit Nintendo in the 80's through the SNES/Genesis then the PSOne and Sega Saturn onto the Dreamcast (where I stopped buying newer games for about six years) I was thrilled to find this game and it be great.
The developers are obviously old school fans that know their stuff. I tried other 2D style games that have hit rec...
Old Navy is having a "door buster" where you can get the Mario game on Wii U for free with $40 of in store purchases. Just an idea for anyone interested there.
It is definitely one that, once I saw it, I went out of my way to get for review (coming sooner than Thanksgiving). Unique stuff like this should be promoted and shown off, I mean, it is stuffing a turkey!
The reason it got a 75 is because it is generally just like every other game in this genre, just a different set of graphics and audio clips. It is a fundamentally sound game though.
I plan on checking out Dredd when it comes to DVD (Redobxing it). Been losing a lot of sleep to this game this last week, been playing it WAY too much. lol
I agree with you oldfriend86, I can't play many iOS games like this that are button heavy, especially on an iPod Touch/iPhone.
I was reminded of Marvel's Ultimate Alliance since that is the closest game I remember playing like this- could be off though since I haven't played this Justice League game yet.
There are precedents in place for the gaming side of things- both good and bad:
Atari successfully sued and got Magnavox to take K.C. Munchkin off store shelves for being too similar to Pac-Man:

Yet, Atari failed at getting Meteors taken out of consumer consumption:

Eh, posting a review of a game that is a year or so old is perfectly fine. For most titles, after a year, they are hitting the discount rack or are being dropped to a much lower price point. In today's economy, even $20 may be hard to swallow for some gamers that may be interested in reading a fresh point of view on a title.
It is a preview of the coverage in the magazine that we launched Friday.
It is a preview of the full review that is available in the mag, something to give readers a taste of what the mag has to offer.
Yes, a straight up preview of the game is a little late now.
That was my mistake. Thanks for catching it. Glad people are actually reading the article.
@Tachyon_Nova, N4G is still messed up right now so I am replying like this.
Split/Second was never really given a fair chance for various reasons, it is sad because it really is a good game that does what it intended quite well.
Your points are why I never went past the PS2 era of gaming. It is just ridiculous the hand holding and fees associated with modern console gaming.
I am not sure what everyone is getting all excited about with these things. They have been available for awhile now, simply search Amazon.com for 'mini pc' and you will have a ton of various devices running all kinds of hardware configurations at just as varied price points.
