I agree. It is probably pressure from the companies wanting to be able to claim they sold X number of copies, profits not withstanding (which is obviously bad for business).

I agree. These titles didn't hold up to the test of time that well, graphically. There is still a lot of fun to be had with some of them, in the right settings, of course.

@Mechanic45's response:
Thank you for the offer, I will definitely get in touch with you. I have about 1,300 gaming magazines right now and while we are archiving many of them (the ones that we have permission to) at Out-of-Print Archive, it is quite a chore, nonetheless, to dig through and find dates.

I have a text file going right now for each month of the year. Some of the text files are nearing 100k (which is HUGE for a text file).

Thanks for your comment, Mechanic, I am the guy that wrote that article (I write most of these on VGC). We are working on putting together regular articles like this but the biggest hold up is the fact that release dates are so mysterious (especially the farther back we go in history). Take Metroid for example, some sources state it was released on the 15th of August, while others report it was the 6th (which is the one we went with).

There is so much history in gaming no...

I was really thinking when rumors started circulating about, what eventually became, Super Smash Bros that it turned out to not be a game based on Captain N The Gamemaster cartoon (which was just ripe for this style of game).

I was going for the less obvious shows, ones that people forget about. The list originally was going to be 25 but it was just too much to read in one sitting so I broke it up and picked my favorite 5 titles.

I agree, KOTOR is a great title and one that I mistakenly found on the Xbox back in the day.

I get the same feeling as you, Orionsaint. It is definitely a mixed signal thing with Sega right now (what hasn't been though since they dropped the Dreamcast?). While Generations looks cool, it also sort of negates Sonic 4 Episode #1 and so forth.

I agree, somewhat, with what you are saying here. It is true, if Apple were to put serious hardware in a home console of some sort, it would have to be more than $100 like the Apple TV costs. The problem is, this is Apple, they sell iPod Touch's and iPhones like crazy, which are underpowered for gaming, honestly.

The thing is, all they have to do is tap into that "soccer mom" demographic like they did with the portable iOS devices. People that are "clo...

Steve Jobs was a board tester or something for Atari ( http://www.retrogaminground... They have a great interview with Al Alcorn and they spend about 10 minutes discussing Steve Jobs and his "career" early at Atari).

Good article, other than the one sentence paragraphs, that did bring up a few points affirming Apple could be in a position to do just what you think they will. I was sad to see that article didn't mention the first foray into consoles by Apple, the Pippin, which failed horribly (course, it was YEARS before iTunes and any other 'i' monikers entered the marketplace).

Interesting take on a classic, almost pre-computer, game idea. Great write up by the way.

One of the best all around gaming podcasts I have heard in years, believe me, I listen to about 35 to 44 hours of podcasts a week and The Paranerds are in the leaders group.

I believe the PD name is owned by Rare/Microsoft since they did release Perfect Dark Zero (either a launch, or near it, title) and a remake of Perfect Dark called Perfect Dark: XBLA (2010).

Killer Instinct, I think is owned by Rare/Microsoft also and have no idea why they haven't done anything with that property lately.

Wow Solidus187, you truly were a fan of Perfect Dark weren't you? That is awesome tidbits there, thanks for mentioning them!

I agree. I loved the soundtrack and the uniqueness involved in playing Panzer Dragoon years ago.

Thanks mrsb, we are working on bringing more original content like this to our readers (who wants to read yet another review of an old game?) along with newer title reviews along with interesting items.

What our readers deem popular, we will provide more of it. Pretty simple formula.

There is more to gaming than E3. Always room for some diversification.

Just wanted to ask, since you "reported" this news item, why you feel it is a sad article and "fake"? The rest of your "report" was simple fluff and not worth commenting on, please elaborate on the rest though.

I understand your points but PPG makes sure that fans of the genre are reviewing the titles so yes, the score may be higher than what it would have received had a person that didn't care for the genre in question been reviewing it.
