You're probably right. And your comment has made me realise that - even as a PlayStation fan myself - I'm glad that it's Microsoft that has bought ZeniMax and not Google or Apple.
Will be fascinating to see how they do on a new IP. They're obviously a very talented developer in the technical department, but it will be interesting to see if they can match that with their creativity and innovation. If so, they could give some of the top developers a run for their money.
I agree. They've really nailed the "what THPS1 and THPS2 would have been like if they were made in 2020" vibe. The game feels so modern, while still feeling like a genuine and respectful remake.
Good list. Though not sure I agree with Zoo. That was a very weak level in my opinion.
I think if they're going to do DLC, they should really do the whole of THPS3. It wouldn't be too much of a stretch to think this might be a possibility, either.
They have explained in interviews that they didn't want to be "tethered" to a continuity that wasn't their own. They wanted full creative control.
Plus, Rocksteady may one day revisit the Batman portion of the Arkhamverse (perhaps even in Suicide Squad). It's better for the end of Knight to be picked up on by the original developers.
I was always a bigger fan of the later games in the series (free-play orientated, rather than 2-minute session orientated). However, I honestly believe this is the best Tony Hawk game in the series. I have barely been able to put it down since last Friday.
I wonder whether they will go down the route of the 2012 (?) remake and provide THPS3 as DLC.
THPS4 would definitely need to be a separate release. But I'd love a THPS4 remake. I spent a lot of time on that game.
A brand-new action-adventure game starring some of the most popular characters in fandom, beating a remake of an already niche pair of games. Not exactly a surprise.
I really hope that Tony Hawk sells well enough to revive the series though. I've been having an absolute blast with the game. The way Vicarious Vision have managed to capture the feel of the original is nothing short of spectacular.
Slow news day!
Yes, I thought that too...
The other thing that strikes me as odd is that the AC series didn't really embrace the mythological side until quite recently. Up until Syndicate, they mostly got by on original ideas and their own developed mythology. It's only since they started trying to be more historically accurate that they've actually had to steer into the mythology more...
GaaS is still a fairly tricky thing to define. I suppose they didn't want to use that phrase until they had to.
Plus, you don't want to announce a game by explaining what it isn't.
They keep doing this...
I agree completely. But the reason people make up the controversies is because we as gamers have been stung before, and we're trying to curb our expectations.
Gotham Knights does have that feel of "too good to be true". But that's an exciting prospect; in this case, it looks like it may ACTUALLY be that good!
Completely agree. It's strange when they went with fairly standard looks for the other characters.
In the gameplay, it looks as though Robin is wearing a different costume, so perhaps there will be others (and hopefully not premium...)
Rumours have existed for around a year that one is in development, but I still don't think it's likely. What a way to launch the shared universe though!
I may just have to play the original on Xbox before I play the AWE DLC for Control!
I'm still hoping Alan Wake gets a surprise re-release on PS4 on the same day as this DLC. Not sure how likely that is now!
I completly agree. But since when did "sense" have anything to do with it?!
Fingers crossed!
I'm interested in whether this will have cross-generation play. I'd love to play this co-op, but thats only going to happen if PS4 and PS5 work together.
Yes, Origins was an odd game. Clearly not as popular as the main entries in the series, but it had a phenomenal soundtrack, great boss fights, an interesting plot and some great voice acting.
The gameplay was pretty much as good as City too, although I felt their answer to making Predator maps harder was always "throw more goons in". Also, the reskinning of the freeze grenades to become identical "glue grenades" because it didn't make sense for Batma...
I highly recommend Bloodborne, if that means anything!
