a little late into the show, granted.

Hey, maybe SuperSaiyan4 is psychic after all (ref. 16).

The handful of Sony defenders out there fail (or refuse???) to understand that such a move would not only sever the (already questionable) trust and relationship the company has to it's large, existing dedicated PS2-based customers, but ALSO threaten the potential of bringing new customers on board.

And you don't need to have immature, disturbing fetishes ...

If you're a PS3 fan, you shouldn't need to be comparing which system's backwards-compatibility is worse, and instead worry about the terrible repercussions this could have for YOUR system.

Two wrongs don't make a right, y'know.

I'm not sure where or to whom you're referring, but I'd be confident to say that the general consensus, at least in this thread, is utter disgruntlement, and overwhelming agreement that Sony would be making an immensely bonehead move by excluding backwards-compatibility...myse lf included (a satisfied North American PS3 fan.)

But I definitely agree with you about taking a stand. I've got a strong gut feeling that, should there be any truth to this, it's ultimately not gonna fl...

I never owned a PS2. Since the purchase of my PS3, I've been, and shall be (i.e., God of War 2) collecting a number of PS2 titles; Sony would've never seen my money had my PS3 not been backwards-compatible.

As a result, that little Emotion chip currently residing in my system has only been nothing other than benificial to Sony.

In addition, given the nature of mass production and economies of scale, how much of a financial ding could the outrageously-mass-produc...

Sony would've really shot themselves in the foot with this one.

However, I'm still cynical until there's absolute confirmation, and complete clarification as to what "limited" means.

Unless Sony outright simply chooses to treat Europe like there very own large-scale experimental petri dish, I can't understand why backwards compatability would be such a technical issue to the the company, when their systems here in North America are already flawlessly ba...

To say that your comment is naive and biased is a incredible understatement.

Although it definitely (NOT definAtely) gets under my skin, grammar, spelling and punctuation of most PlayStation fans is no worse than that of any others who post in this forum...or any other forum across the entire span of the internet, for that matter.

I own a PlayStation 3; please feel free to give me a shout should you ever decide to duke it out à la Writing Pen.

I say, bring it on baby!!!...provided of course that the price is right.

I refuse to waste my time, bandwidth, and effort if it's going to cost me the same as renting the same feature.

First and foremost, that current static downloading issue has gotta be fixed to allow for some practical multitasking.

with Sony's claim that the PS3 is gaining momentum...I can feel the public's love for the system increasing over the recent four weeks.

Not only is this apparent by the increasing upsurge of positive media coverage for the PS3, but also - and probably more accurately - via forum comments: My impression is a drastic decrease in anti-Sony fanboyism, and an increase in others coming out of the closet, so to speak, and actually expressing genuine excitement, and anticipating good ...

From what I gather, it sounds as if resorting to 3X DVD to deliver HD content is a little redundant, and very misleading to the layman-consumer, considering that the article's actually admitting to resorting to lossy codecs and lower resolutions in order to achieve their representation of HD.

I'm a fan, and avid user of such codecs as MPEG-4 (i.e, DivX), but there's definitely a tradeoff of quality for space efficiency. Those codecs are better suited for other purposes (i.e.,...

Although the idea is theoretically quite cool and innovative, how in the world can someone effectively apply this in a real-world situation? More specifically, where in the world would you place the PSP so as not to divert attention, or reduce responsiveness with what's (more importantly) taking place on the big screen, at the front-side of the game? I find this issue especially critical in a Formula 1 setting, which requires undivided attention and lightening-quick reflexes.

At least definitely so on a personal level.

I acquired both my Wii and PS3 early on, approximately one and three weeks following launch dates, respectively. Prior to actually getting my hands on either, the bulk of my excitement and anticipation was focused almost entirely on the Wii. As a matter of fact, I hadn't even expected to purchase a PS3 until I was fortunate enough to come across one at my local EB Games.

Once I had both, however, a strange thing happe...

Although the shrink ray was indeed fun, there were soooo many fun and satisfying cool weapons that are nothing short of honorable mentions, such as the Freeze Gun (which allows you to shatter your foe with a swift kick), the Trip Bombs (nothing like hearing your enemy get blow up thanks to you, while you're at the opposite end of the map.)...and my most satisfying and all-time favourite: The good ol' RPG!!!!

Good times, good times.

Given that today marked the release of The Departed on all disc formats, I was eager to grab a Blu-Ray copy for myself.

I scooted over to my nearest Wal-Mart (in the Greater Toronto Area), and upon glancing at their HD section, I was unable to find a Blu-Ray copy of the film, although there was a healthy number of copies of the same film available in HD-DVD format. Note also that the store had at least double the amount of Blu-Ray movies than it's competitor.

It looks like a great game, but...9.5???...from stingy EGM???

I haven't read the review yet, but I can't help but be cynical about the rating.

From what I recall, the game doesn't even have online play.

Another fantastic website for grouped-up reviews (on all kinds of media) is:

You're probably right.

I just have this glimmering hope that I may fall across an insightful comment. Imagine that.

Sure I've come across decent feedback, but it too-often gets buried amongst this storm of ca-ca.
