By the looks of it, it's gonna be the 8600 GTS for me.

Now how 'bout some DX10-based content to justify that arguably expensive and redundant new Vista operatings system, eh?

Mmmmm....Aero glass...

First or second, as they're both absolutely stellar.

Unless you've already played them, you won't even be thinking "Next-gen" with these two amazing titles. Hands down, two of the best games I've ever played, and joyfully addictive: In a single week, I'm almost through both games (about thirteen hours play-time for each story) And hey, the first GoW is a steal at only $20 (it's a Greatest Hit).

However, if you MUST have next-gen eye candy, then Motors...

I'm coming to the realization that I'll get to live the dream vicariously using my PS3!

Hmph...Some guys do so with their kids...I manage to do it via a shiny black box sitting in my living room.

Who wudduh thunk.

This year: erraticating cancer and disease...next year: the resurrection of Frankenstein's Monster!

...Mmmmwahahahahahaha! ;)

EXACTLY!

I've been jonesing to play this on my PS3 ever since fiddling around with the PS2 version at Best Buy a couple of months ago.

Great to know, as I've been consistenly keeping a sharp eye out for this specific announcement.

Seems as if my next Choice Du Jour is gonna have to be F.E.A.R., considering that I haven't even been able to come close to finding Splinter Cell, which I think turned out to be a blessing in disguise, considering what I've been reading about the lacklustre porting.

I hope F.E.A.R. or Rainbow Six aren't going to follow suit.

...to crack.

Things will then be much clearer.

I mean, c'mon: I can understand you even saying that most aren't triple AAA...but "garbage?"

If you don't like what's on this list, then you surely, cannot truly, EVER be excited about what's on ANY other console's list.

Maybe you just don't like video games...I'm sure your local community college offers fantastic beginner courses in Basket Weaving.

I completely forgot all about that gamepad! I think the original price was quite steep, too. I don't think it did too well, though I admit that I thought it was cool.

Wasn't that at least ten years ago?

...man time flies by waaay to fast.

By the way: comparatively speaking, that PC gamepad would only be a "THREE-axis", would it not? It's got the tilt for each axis, but is missing the X-Y-Z forward-backward/up-down/left- right 'thrust' ...

but what game is that? Burnout???

Great sense of speed.

OK. Back to the original topic now.

"just finished God of War 2... wow.. just wow!!!"

Oh, yeah, I know EXACTLY where you're coming from: Last night, I finished the first God of War...and man am I pumped to throw part two in later tonight! It's gotta be the best, most exciting game I've ever played (compared to those in its genre, at least).

My only gripe: at one point, late into the game, I realized that I must have accidentally switched to "easy" after croaking one-time to...

Yes, you're absolutely right...it's critical to remember that health should be on the forefront when being obscure, vague, and cryptic!

for a Wii game, that is.

(Egad!...have I mentally downgraded the Wii's better-than-assumed capabilities over these few short months??? For shame, T0rchy!...FOR SHAME!)

is that now one no needs actual drugs to feel spaced out on LSD. ;)

LSDARBY, NG, and Deep: I certaintly hope you're all right, because if these cryptic messages actually start making sense, I'll give them an enthusiastic standing ovation, because for these commercials to make any sense whatsoever...would be the work of genius...

...Err, work of genius, or me having gone insane. (I'm fine with either one.) ;)

I noticed a significant difference after purchasing the component cables (when they FINALLY became available). Unfortunately, don't expect miracles, because the Wii will always be a Wii, and never graphically comparable to the "other" two machines. But you'll definitely notice crisper graphics and much better colour saturation, and therefore highly recommend them...especially for detail/texture-rich games, such as Zelda and Call of Duty 3.

Some friendly advice: I d...

the sheer, unselfish sacrifices you make in the name of science! Nobel Peace Prize, anyone? ;)

(BTW: two PS3's running? It must be 130 degrees farenheit in there! I've got "only" one unit, running in a room with cathedral ceilings, and still causes me to break a sweat after a half-day crunch-a-thon.)

All the "good" is beneficial and critical, and all the "bad" will be erradicated with time.

In conclusion: The PS3 is one BAD mother.

But in a GOOD way.

No? ;)

but I think what he's referring to is that raytracing is very cpu-intensive, and that plausible/passable results can be obtained by alternate, more efficient (albeit less accurate) means.

He's right about the "inefficient" part, for these particular intents and purposes.

No one can take away the general consensus that the Wii had most kick-ass release of launch titles ever.

And I assure you that my lovable wii shall forever have a special place in my heart. It's just that, upon looking at that game list...well, I'm just not excited about what's immediately to come for the Little White Box that Could.

Fingers remain crossed, though.

But in their defence, you're watching a recording of a monitor, not a direct feed. And it's a low-quality youtube video to boot. I remember wanting to show my cousin a video showcasing F1, and he had a really hard time understanding my enthusiasm because the video looked like crap...until he came over and saw the demo in action.

Also, I think that the car automatically loses realism because it's not set in a realistic scenery, and your brain automatically picks up on that rig...

Anyone's who's tinkered in 3D modelling/animation knows full well that ray-tracing is one of (if not the) most cpu-intensive rendering procedures...We're talking minutes to bust out a single frame for a moderately complex rendering.

So if the PS3 (granted three of them, in this case) is able to calculate raytracing (in 720 HD!) in REAL time (30fps?), the Playstation 3 (or the Cell processor, at least) is a behemoth of a machine indeed.

I have a hard time seeing r...
