is the NTSC's version inability to play Pal DVD's.
I've got a bunch of original, legitimate, region-free DVD flicks I purchased in Italy a few years ago. Even the cheapest of my numerous DVD players are able to convert the Pal image for playing onto my NTSC television.
Imagine my surprise and frustration when, shortly after popping in one of my aforementioned Pal flicks into my shiny, new, state of the art(?) $700 PS3, I'm greeted with an on-screen message that ...
I humbly ask that you correct me if I'm wrong, but I strongly recall hearing/seeing/reading somewhere that all aforementioned Home functions will be accessible via the XMB, thereby allowing the user (i.e., me) to choose speed and simplicity, or flashy graphics and pizzaz.
BTW: How come you're not dressed up in your customary scrubs today???...Ahh, must be 'cause it's a weekend, and therefore your day off. ;)
because, judging strictly from these images, they both look absolutely splendid (although it appears that the XBox brethern has gone a little overkill on the specular highlighting, while most of the GT shots appear more life-like.)
I don't trust screen shots; have to see them in hands-on, real-time action for the true, undisputable truth.
I've seen what GTHD can do, and I haven't seen Forza or Gotham. All I can say is that, given what I've personally witnessed, ...
If it's got shag carpeting, lava lamps, and a Gaggia espresso machine, I'm there!!!
I'm with you.
Given my limted time (and selective attention span), I really can't see me becoming intimately involved with Home (I've tried the Sims; I've gotten bored quite easily.) I'm still willing to mess around with it when it becomes officially released, because who knows: It may offer features and capabilities which I may find surprisingly useful, even if I choose not to, uh...socialise.
However, this is nonetheless a fresh, ingenious idea, as there is ...
Err, that phrase comes across as a little too submissive and weak, considering this massive beast that Sony is soon to unleash (assuming no hiccups, of course.) I see the situation more along the lines of:
"but Sony is retaliating MS's online firepower by entering the online race with the equivalent of a massive A-Bomb."
Besides, as much as everyone gets a kick out of comparing, wouldn't it be quite difficult to do in this case, since they're both diff...
about the issue of DVD's limited optical disc storage capacity as more games are developed.
Over these recent years, developers have wrapped their mind around DVD's nine gig limit; as more developers see and harness the potential provided by Blu-Ray's storage capacity, others will quickly follow suit. I reckon that the medium's currently perceived-to-be "irrelevant" fifty gig(+) storage space is going to be gobbled up by developers in no time.
Go ahe...
The term "funky" comes to mind. Nice vivid colours.
(I'm a sucker for colours.)
"a good game is a good game"
Man, ain't that ever the truth, brother...I've got no less than six grade "A" current-gen titles sitting atop my television (all of which I dearly enjoy), and I've been feverishly hooked on the $5.99, thirteen-year-old, jaggy-ridden, Mortal Kombat II as of late.
(Guilty pleasures are great, aren't they?)
Now THAT would be an accomplishment!!!
I'm afraid that that may take the PSP out of the equation (whether the little guy is powerful enough)...and I imagine that the games would be very, very large (PS2=DVD).
But we can dare to dream, right?
that the existing downloadable PSOne games would have to be re-released; I was under the impression that the last PS3 firmware update completely took care of cross-platform compatibility.
But what a great feature nonetheless.
Uh-oh...this announcement is giving me that "download-me-now" itch again.
Man, that just brought a nostalgic tears to my eyes, along with a flood of specific memories related to most of those games, and I wholeheartedly thank you for it!...
...Mastering Punchout in my dad's van during the twenty six hour-long drive down to/from Florida...the frustrating hours spent trying to pass the Forest stage in SMS's Shinobi (one of my all time favorite games), struggling to finally reach the final boss, only to get my arse kicked, and having to do it ALL over a...
if you just want to watch movies...but the inevitable emergence of affordable BR writers will be a Godsend...finally, the added security of being able to back up my ENTIRE hard-worked-for current MP3 collection onto a single, easily transportable and inconspicuous (unlike hard drives) disc.
Bring it on, baby!!!
This gentleman's comment/response to the story is my case in point (from my previous post) exactly!
Think my friend, THINK!!!
Sadly, people get stabbed/shot/killed every day over a measly parking spot. It's incredible how the media loves to spin stories so misleadingly and so much out of proper context.
The (inaccurately) conveyed message: PLAYSTATION 3 KILLS
Heaven forbid that the author revises their title to convey that it was the arguement itself - and not a hunk of circuitry - which ultimately led to the poor guy's demise. The arguement could have just as well stirred if the i...
there's no denying that (for better or worse) the Blu-Ray movie format is so closely intertwined with the success of the PS3 (and vice-versa).
The more dominant Blu-Ray becomes, that much more appealing the PS3 becomes as a capable movie/media player AS WELL as an awesome gaming machine.
(OK, OK, I've gotta confess a bit of bias here: I love movies as much as I do video games, so this news may not be as welcoming to others as it is to me...but it does get voted i...
ATTENTION ALL CANADIAN GAMERS:
I was over at EB games on Saturday and noticed that they've got what looks like a pretty sweet promotion happening:
Trade in any ten used games, and get a brand new PS3 for CN$399 (that's CN$300 off the retail price, or a trade in value of CN$30 for each submitted game!!!)
I'm unable to specify the restriction (if any) of game titles accepted for trade in; all I noticed was that your submitted games must be in fair sh...
For any doubters, or those curious: Rest assurred that it looks absolutely GORGEOUS in 1080i, and runs smoooothly (except for an occasional split-second freezing hiccup I randomly experienced two or three times...I think it must've been loading, because there was nothing on screen to tax the system.)
Have any of you guys finished the extra mission with the female character? Got to the red demon-like thingies, but got my butt handed to me rather effortlessly.
BTW...
but I finally bit the bullet and upgraded to 56K, baby!!! V.92 and all!!!
Say, if I start now, do you think it will finish downloading before the retail release???...well, as long as no one calls on the other line, and breaks my connection that is...
(j/k, j/k!)
...I'm on that sucker ASAP!!!
I was really looking forward to playing this game (I'm a sucker for anything Spider-Man/Superman).
Especially after unexpectingly enjoying Spider-Man 2 on my PSP as much as I did. On the other hand, I did pay the PSP game only twenty bucks...maybe this game will also be 'just as good' when it reaches that price level in about a year or so.
