@DeadManMMX:
That sounds worse. Why announce hardware over a year away? On top of this, its not even a new system, its a revision. I can't remember the last time hardware was announced over a year from its initial launch date, if it ever even happened.
Not sure why its gonna take that long, but its pretty obvious that there wasn't much in their arsonal for major announcements and they need some kinda buzz to try to take sales away from Sony this h...
I've been a member of this site for over nine years now and it's just really cool to see how much has changed since that time.
When I first logged in to N4G it was doom and gloom articles for Sony and the PS3 for many years (except for 2009 when Uncharted 2 and the first PS3 Slim came out), then the countless articles touting Project Natal to be the hot new thing and leaving the Move in the shadows, followed by Kinect's big success (specifically in 2010-2011). T...
I just think it's funny how MGS4 had too many cutscenes, but this game makes a whole frikkin television show and people show all the support!!
Haha jk but it was just funny to me.
You can preach good intentions till the cows come home. That doesn't and never will fly with the online community. Trying to change the way things are done with fine-printed documents NEVER works, Fine Bros.
Sony tried the same with Let's Play and it did not work. Microsoft did the same thing in 2013 and they continue to pay for it today. This isn't Hollywood; you're in a medium that gives your viewers the ability to speak back, and speak back we do.

Okay, I've been pretty quite about the whole thing, but I gotta say:
If they wanna charge $15 for a game that I paid $15 for on the previous generation just because it has digital prizes, sure. Go ahead.
But don't be upset when, after literally buying San Andreas 4 to 5 different times already (bought it 3 times on PS2, once and PSN that I remember), I decide to say 'to hell with it' and pirate the game.
I understand that ther...
@Kingdomcome
Wow, sorry to hear that man. I hope your lady fully recovers quickly and authorities are able to find the desperate a-holes that did that. I've had a pretty bad series of unfortunate events happen to me back in May. It's tough but you'll make it just fine!
Only us old-timers remember Dark Sniper my friend
It looks pretty genuine, but there's one little detail that has me almost convinced that it's not genuine.
The controller.
It says "PlayStation" on it. That wasnt the original name of the console, nor was it ever trademarked as PlayStation.
It was "Play Station". And that was specific. Literally, it was the only way Sony could have even still called their eventual console "PlayStation" without facing a ma...
At this point, it's not even the graphics that bother me.
Seriously, Nintendo? People didn't understand it? Stop with the blame games already.
We understood the system just fine. It's essentially a powerful Gamecube with Internet capabilities, only instead of a normal f*cking controller, you decided to stick a screen on it so people can play it when the TV is off.
If anyone in the audience didn't "understand", it'...
Personally, I think that was a great announcement made by MS. To be honest, it seemed like the biggest thing they had at E3, which is saying something considering no one seems to be talking about their current gen games instead.
It's a shame, but it shows you how nostalgia can sometimes overshadow new ideas. A case made clear during Sony's conference as well, where the 3 biggest of the 15,000 surprises they had were older titles gamers we're begging to see in a ne...
I literally have no idea what you just said.
@Death
It does when you have no other option, which is my point. I just said it sucks, but if I had enough of an incentive to pay the equivalent of 3.5 games a year on a service that can give me PS3 and eventually PS2/PS1 games on almost any platform that's capable, it works itself out.
We're talking about a feature that is far from a system seller. It's a novelty that serves as an added bonus and lessens the blow of having to dump 10 years of inv...
Nice stealth troll, bro.
PS Now isn't a better option for PS4 owners like myself. Technology like this is obviously possible on the system since PS3 emulation is happening right now with PS Now. Hell, you can even see the XMB from there. The fact that this isn't a big thought in Sony's mind right now gets me really angry
But with that said, it's also completely useless to me now. To get into the next generation, I - along with many others - ha...
@blackout:
Sony spent 300M on the technology that allows you to stream PlayStation games (eventually of all generations) to almost any smart device, including non-Sony products.
Microsoft just flipped a backwards compatibility switch that allows your system to recognize a disc-based game and download a digital copy for free.
Two different beasts.
Mind you, this is a feature that stems from a related feature that the XBO was g...
This is awesome news! It really drives home the point that competition is a huge determining factor into whether or not a corporation pays attention to their surroundings.
I would understand if the PS4 wouldn't have the hardware capabilities to do the same considering it's so different from the PS3, but what IS possible is the very thing I've been ranting about since PSNOW was launched!!
I can find the quote for you guys lol, I basically said:
I saw the headline and all I thought was damn, that's a big ass nose.
@Septic
I definitely agree with you on the idea that Sony would purchase a property simply to shutdown competition. I don't think that's the reason behind this. If that were the case, I think they would have taken Xbox under their wing when they had a chance at the turn of the century.
There is a difference between what's going on here and what was touted as "Power of the Cloud", though. Cloud computing was heavily marketed as a super-po...
I'm really excited to get my hands on that game once my whole moving situation is straightened out! I've always enjoyed Ready at Dawn games and the reviews never phased me.
I stopped taking review scores into account the day that I saw IGN criticizing Uncharted 3 and deducting points for being "more of the same" with less of a wow factor than Uncharted 2, yet COD has been getting a free pass since 2007.
Side-Note: It's been well over a y...
Seriously? Can curiosity be enough?
We're humans, humans are curious, it's human nature. I don't own the universe but I'd love to find out as much as possible. Get it?
It's literally the one reason why we even clicked on this article.
After the success of the 360, I never thought I'd see another generation where Sony can dominate the US market. Now I'm at the point where I honestly can't judge the direction of Microsoft's vision for their gaming aspirations. What are they trying to achieve? It was obvious in the 7th generation but they seem to be pretty quiet this time around - for many reasons, I'm sure.
