Sorry to burst you bubble but -
I was not gonna go for HD - and then the PS3 was released. Now I am looking at getting a HD video projector to go with the PS3 and it is for watching movies as well. I am not about to get a HD-DVD standalone - there was no reason. DVD is good enough - but... since the PS3 will have the Blu-Ray player - heck - now I am excited about HD video.

Many reason like I do. Would not go for a HD player - DVD is OK, but - if I go for a nextgen cons...

I have MGS3, KZ, The Getaway, GTA:SA.
Whatever the reviews, the ones played most is The Getaway, KZ, MGS3, and last GTA:SA. (This is not including the Ratchet and Jak & Daxter series - which gets most of the time with the kids)

So whatever the review numbers - KZ got more played here than MGS3 and GTA:SA put together. Of course the Ratchet and J&D got played a whole lot more. Go figure...

Get real buddy - it is business. Nothing shady. Games need Blu-Ray. HD video needs Blu-Ray. Sony offered it in one package. How is that "shady"?

What is shady is how MS tries to explain that HD-DVD offers "better" quality, and value. There is no reason for HD-DVD to exist - it was just a weaker shot by Toshiba, supported by MS, to take control of the next gen media. They came in second in a market that will only have one. They will try next gen again with ho...

Blu-Ray has win... over and out.

We are just seeing the death rattles of HD-DVD. Let it die in dignity. Quit this religious war with calling the "faithful" for buying days to get it to feature somewhere on the charts again. It is dying. Let it die.

And for those pulling out the "stand alone" sales figures. Most persons interested in the technology leap and next gen video formats are gamers. So why the heck would they buy a standalone Blu-Ray p...

I will not get one... but... Apple established itself as a fashion statement device. This thing will be the must have for the yuppies. Expect this thing to be seen at fashion shows, Hollywood stars showing it of etc.

Good for Apple. I would like the PSP phone when it comes out. But expect the iPhone to be the most sought after fashion accessory when it is released.

This title will shift a couple hundred thousand or a million or two. My kids loved the PS2 version.

Sheesh, seems like Sony is getting on a roll here with all the new titles...

But hey - I want The Getaway.... come on man. Nice new IP news, but let me know something about The Getaway.

So IGN has a great reputation eh? So much that they have to redo the upscaling photo thing. Sounds like a sort of admission of guilt. Their reputation took a huge dent long a ago...

Despite the MS defense League - trying to post on all forums trying to cover up the huge amount of RROD, scratched disks etc - trying to scream FUD at all who point out the large failure rate - despite the excellent return policy MS has put into place - despite all the activity on forums to deny the existence of the problems - it is about to come out.

Heck - Down here I went to a couple of stores where both PS3 and XB360 is displayed - and I have more than one photo of the XB3...

So - if Ms releases a similar device it is expanding, innovating. If Sony does, then it is an act of "desperation". Urghhh come on - get a life.

I don't have a PSP, but if it becomes a phone, PDA, GPS receiver - then count me in. I am all for all-in-one devices. Why carry a round 4 if you can have one.

Streaming video from your PS3, remote gaming, street navigation from GPS, PDA functionality, iPod music and media player functionality - what is not to l...

The codec - repeat after me - is software driven. Got it?

Do you think if you encoded a file in DivX and copied it onto CD that it suddenly would not work because it is not on the list? No kids - its just a bucket of 0's and 1's. The software decodes it. Having a list means - nothing. Your current DVD players support mostly all these codecs already, WMV, MP3, DivX, MPEG etc etc etc, and do you see it on the "list"?
so quit this crap of HD-DVD "uses better ...

It is not a "enterprise server".

It is a great piece of home kit - not enterprise. For an enterprise server you need RAID disks, dual redundant power supplies etc. Great interesting toy for people wanting to play around with cell CPU's etc, but a cell CPU and a piece of software and large disk not an enterprise server make.

....HD-DVD is cheaper
....has more stand alone players
....Toshiba will flood the market with cheap players
....PS3's are not used for Blu-Ray HD content - only standalone players are
....MS says it is better
....Blu-Ray is from Sony - so it must go the Betamax route
etc etc etc etc....

And in the end of the day - sales figures say that it is getting to 80% market share for Blu-Ray. All the above is just excuses, rantings... Blu-Ray cam...

Blu-Ray is outselling HD-DVD - and the margin is increasing. It is dominating the sales. HD-DVD is dead. All that is left is the funeral.

Quoting Rob Enderle - yeah right - there is an unbiased opinion for you... NOT. Sales will be 99% BR and 1% HD-DVD and this guy will still argue that HD-DVD is about to win.

Get of this topic already. If MS had HD-DVD in the XB360, then HD-DVD would be king now. It was not ready so they continue the DVD is big enough crap. Bec...

Wow - just wow... read the interview. These guys are living, sleeping, everything GT. With the attention to detail they go into, it is understandable that I would like to "test drive" a vehicle and basing a purchase decision based on the experience in GT.

But please manufacturers, let us at least have damage in some older models if you don't want the new models damaged.

For Forza it is OK to hit the wall and the tail light crack, or be hit from behind and see the windshield crack.

But with GT, it will be realistic, and the manufacturers will not like a person making buying decisions based on a person test driving each car into a wall and choosing.

Maybe they should just have generic damage for all models as standard, and - meaning exactly the same for all vehicles, and then just the realistic damage in a special mode with the ap...

So - going with the trend - a new format with each generation on console - Sony will most probably release the PS4 with holographic. MS will release XB720 with Blu-Ray, and claim that no one will need Holographic storage.

Sony will then in the next gen release the PS5 with inter dimensional subspace storage media, and MS will release with the holographic drive, claiming the inter dimensional subspace storage is not required.

And so it will go on and on... Oh... a...

Blu-Ray is winning the war hands down. The sales prove it at the moment. It came from behind, and HD-DVD is losing badly in sales figures. There is no need to keep two formats alive. The Blu-Ray titles is cheaper, more titles, more players - and of course - the PS3.

It has bigger storage, faster access times. The fight is over. All that is left for the few consumers holding on to realize it - oh and MS and Toshiba too.
