I know its a low res video - but the graphics in this conversion look terrible, and it looks like they dropped the level of deatil on the models way down..but despite this there appears to be really chugging framerates - just check out that explosion near the end of the interview to see fps hit single figures.

I hope they manage to optimise and improve things before release as I'd like to try this on the 360...

Its pretty obvious that these people are simply poor developers. The game is rubbish no matter where you play it, which speaks volumes about the dev teams compatence.

If we must comepare two turds, then the artcle appears to be correct - the PS3 version looks horrible in comparison to the 360 version. We're not talking about tweaked or doctored shots here, the texture resolution is obviously far less on the PS3 version than the 360 one, that can't be faked.

I wou...

I thought this was a well written and reasoned article. I even broadley agree with it. Its nice to see this kind of article coming out in the press these days.

Though SONY deserved some of the stick they got in the early launch days and repeatedley shot themselves in the foot, I couldn't help being slightly outraged at the legions of people taking glee 'putting the boot in' - after all, this was a brand that had given me some of my best gaming moments, and as a gamer, I didn't ...

I'm amazed at people still denying that there are any issues with RROD on 360's?
I understanfd that this report is simply a umour of where the failure rate has dropped to, but everyone knows the issue is not fixed.
Amoung other things I'm a administrator on several games site - one of which has 250K users. There have lots of reports and complaints from users of the newer sku's who have had problems - theres no question that hardware failures still happen, its just the level of ...

Daft list, and just goes to prove that a personal choice list has nothing to do with what the games buying public actually want. Its also dat how storys with completely fabricated 'bait' headlines are now roiutinely approved on this site! Any pretense at sticking to the news seems to have dissapeared. Maybe we could rename this place Wars4Gamers?? :) lol

Though I'm interested in Fallout 3, its difficulat to get hyped about a game which has only really been glimpsed, depite the p...

The article is absolutely spot on. People arguing that downloaded HD content is the future and refer to servcies such as Apple Tv as the future, are the kind of people who think a downloaded divx movie for the PC is 'good enough'. If thats all you want, fine, but there a lot of people out there that are like me abnd put a lot of store in real fidelity. For these people, the kind of compromises made to squirt this media through the web pipe, are simply not good enough and they would far rather...

Errr. No actually! CG renders are sharp - but go and look at some in game screen shots on http://www.wardevil.com/ - look in the 'RTE 1080 Gallery' for real in game screen shots. You'll agree there's quite a big difference!

Much as I hate agree with Poos3 on anything at all (I hate all trolls), he's completly right about that latest set of images being CGI renders. Its completely obvious, and the developers are quite openly saying they are CGI renders. Trust me - I do game graphics for a living, and the differences are blidingly obvious to me.:)
If you wish to see real in-game stuff, go the developers website and look at the RTE 180 gallery for real screen shots. Looks OK, but not stunning. Look forward t...

This is awesome!

How can you not know John Romero? One of the biggest gaming figures 10 years ago?

Anyhow, for any of us in the industry, this is so much fun! I'm cracking open a bottle of wine and heating some popcorn and hopping we get the full series on this one!!!

The reason 360 piracy does not affect software sales is simple, its really hard and risky to hack a 360 to allow you play burnt games, so only a very small proportion of users will do it.
To hack a 360 requires you to open the machine and remove the dvd drive (thats difficult in itself), then attach the dvd drive to a sata sonnector in your PC, and if you are lucky enough to have the correct Sata drivers you can then flash the DVD drive firmware with thre modified one. It can all go hor...

Hmmm.
Electronic item has a fialure?
Can't really see that this is news. Unless it tured out there was alot of failures, and the report suggests that not the case.
Over the years I've had maybe 5 hard drive failures on PC's - it happens, which is whay all my drives are now in RAID 5 config. :)
Unless the instances are high, this is not news at all.

oh mart -you are so predicatable.

Comon then - I challange you to say the current weekly attach rates for the US. Show us how many more games each 360 owner buys!

Work it out dude - I only did for the last 6 weeeks using VGChartz numbers, but the PS3 attach rate was Higher than the 360 one on every single week. don't immediately disagree, see for yourself - if you want to disagree, try and show me the figures. You won't 'cause you can't!

PS3 owners ...

Absolutely! I have all 3 next gen machines, 2x DS and 2x psp too, as well as just about every emulator and rom ever made available. But I still manage to work (sometimes) pay my mortgage, and keep my wife happy!
Theres nothing that says you have to play ALL the games - just the worthwhile ones! IMHO thats meant I've played very little on the WII, lots last year on the 360, and increasingly more on the PS3 as the better titles have arrived..

Look at the weekly figures.
Ps3 attach rates are already higher than 360 week on week - certainly for the last 6 weeks (I've not looked any further).

@xboxrumble

Please - do talk about games sales! Obviously with a 3 times larger user base in the states, you'd expect 3 times the sales, right?

Whats important is the 'attach rate - how many games each owner goes out and buys. Right?

I've only looked at figures from VGchartz as they are redilly available and very easy to compare - for each week, you can easilly calculate how many games each user bought. (software sales for the week/total number of...

kevoncox - please stop deluding yourself and talking drivel as if its fact.

Its been stated on many an occasions, but you seem incapable of understanding: NPD = US sales figures, not world wide sales.
No one can dispute that the 360 is hugely popular and outselling the PS3 in the states - the NPD figures plainly show this.

However, if you do want to look at world wide sales, there is much more momentum in PS3 sales which is what offers some balance if view...

Very true for the most part.

I would say there is still a huge passion for Japaneese games in the west - games like Devil May Cry 4, Ninja Gaiden 2, Metal Gear Solid etc are all hugely popular in the west despite being very Jap, and the kind of quirky titles like Loco Roco and many others still do very good buisness in the world wide market.

Western games however, rarely manage to penetrate the Jap market and it fairly obvious to see why - we have a proliferatio...
