The wii is a laughing stock. All it has is a gimmick and its great that Sony are putting that in, so that gamers are not pestered by non-gamer wives or hoaxed into buying the rip-off that is the wii. Now you can actually have a decent gaming machine AND have motion controls added on for $50-100 if you want to.

And Sony isnt "just copying wii" -
They do have a full HD console, unlike wii.
They do have a great variety of 1st and 3rd party games, we saw GoW3, H...

Depends.
For shooters or online games, they need not play it through.
For story heavy games, definitely yes. Would you believe a reviewer who gave Sixth Sense or Usual suspects a 7/10 after watching 2/3rds of the movie?

Seems like MS can make a good OS after several years of trying.

The amazing thing is MS spends about $10bn on R&D, more than twice Apple. In fact, its probably more than Apple and Google combined, what a waste of money. Compare the sheer number of great products from those two companies, whereas MS release me-too products which are mostly awful designs (Zune) or buggy and defective (360, Vista). The only decent technology I have seen from MS is the graphics card on the 360 ...

Almost everytime I check my local HMVs, Heavy Rain is sold out. Come on Sony, get some copies into the stores, before the hype dies down.

Oh please - go and buy Mass Effect 2 and support that great game instead of commenting here, that barely broke 1.5million after being out longer and on a console with a bigger base. What a shame, for a game that probably cost several times as much to make as Heavy rain.

GT5 is a simulator, not Burnout. How many real life races do you see where drivers crash into each other? You gain a good position in GT because you judged the racing line and managed the turns better, not because you are good at avoiding other cars crashing around you

I enjoy MAG for the teamwork and I picked BC2 to get a bit more of the same, played it a bit. I just want to check with gamers here before I invest time into BC2 - does that game have good squad-based play, i.e., squad-mates working with each other, as opposed to individualistic game-play as in Halo/CoD? Especially the squad v squad mode in BC2 where 4 squads face off, is it good?

"I love creativity and originality. That's why I choose Halo as my FPS."
Oh the irony.

Mikami games are always good stuff, I am just surprised he went for a PS3 exclusive, because he is not a PS fan, he was very against porting RE4 to PS2 and even Bayonetta's PS3 port was not well done

Anyway, would be a great game to play and hope people buy his games to support this talented developer.

That’s because less than half of those copies were at full price, the bulk sold at the reduced £20 rate. So, assuming the developer gets $12 for a full price sale and $5 for a discount price sale, they probably made only $12 million or so. Uncharted 1 cost $20m, and these guys probably spent less, $14-15m or so, which is a low budget considering the quality of the game.

The key problem wasn’t the low base or length of the game. The problem was that reviewers and media picked on the game and scored it low for being a PS3 exclusive and daring to have graphics, story and animation that put every 360 game to shame
Moderately decent reviews or press for this amazing game would have meant 500,000 more copies, and made the difference between profit and loss
And it just shows how evil the MS-inspired campaign against the PS3 was, because it had a direct,...

And also easier to port it over to the PS3. Which. admittedly, is as unlikely to happen as Bioshock, Lost Planet and Ninja Gaiden.

AngryFork - that is quite a scary clip for fans of stealth games. Looks like they completely turned it into a "Bourne." They better not do the same to Deus Ex 3 or Thief 4

The funny thing is, so many people mention MGS2 as being a disappointment, but its still among the highest rated games on the PS2, sold 6 million copies, its just a lot of post-facto analysis about why it supposedly sucks because of Raiden, as pointed out here, the story just would not work unless you played as him.

Sony needs to prioritise based on need. How many actually need/want Arabic as opposed to say Spanish or Hindi? Which depends on a) user base in Arabic speaking countries and b) whether those users actually prefer Arabic over English. I know, for instance, most users in India or Pakistan would prefer English over Hindi/Urdu because PS3 useage is restricted to the middle-class, English-speaking population

Also, be careful what you wish for. If you have too much localisation, you wi...

is because the PS3 haters were using the same kind of flamebait and sensational statements to attack the PS3, and they were proven to be lies – “cell is useless for gaming”, “360 easy to develop for”, 360 has the awesome unified RAM.

You would believe the PS3 was a crappy, useless console but in reality Halo, the biggest 360 franchise, is still trying to reach close to the level of KZ 2 after 3 attempts and 5 years and the 360 flops when trying to handle FF13

Wherea...

The interesting thing is, when Heavenly Sword came out it was nitpicked to death, and now it is being used to counter GoW3's impact.

Wrathman, asbolutely agree with you. Other than being prettier, 2x the number of pixels, better lighting and car/interior models, 2x the number of players in online, better damage and physics model, night/all weather racing, Nascar/WRC and 2.5x the number of cars, cant see what GT5 does that Forza doesnt

Lost odyssey+Blue dragon 50 million
Star Ocean 4 (timed) 10 million
Tales of Vesperia (timed?) 10 million
FF13 (to bring to 360 in US) 10-20 million perhaps?
Al told, close to a 100 million. That’s the development budget for Uncharted 2, infamous, Heavy Rain, God of War 3 combined.
