I think both ME1 and this game are variants of Deus Ex gameplay.
ME had a stronger RPG element, while this has more stealth and probably better story (though ME1 was excellent in that respect too)

So why has the xbox360 hit a brick wall in the graphics department after Gears 1 in its first year, while PS3 exclusives keep getting better every year?

"let the games do the talk sony "
They are doing the talking
Every year the games take a massive jump over the previous year’s titles
Ratchet/Uncharted > Resistance 1
MGS4 > Ratchet/Uncharted
KZ2/Unharted 2 > MGS4
GoW3/GT5 > KZ2/UC2
And you can bet that KZ3, Lost Guardian and UC3 will push the bar even further in 2011.

Maybe Sony should have launched a separate stripped down model:
DVD instead of Blu-ray, with MGS4 shipping on 6 or 7 discs.
No wifi or HDMI
No hard drive
No online.
No PS2 backward-compatibility
Specially made defective parts that failed 33% of the time.

I am sure all those whining about the $600 launch price would have happily paid $400 for this model

Thief 1 (my first ever game)
Thief 2 (best game I ever played)
Deus Ex
Resistance 2 (especially the coop)
KZ2 (best online ever)
Uncharted 2
Mass Effect

Compared to the "$600 console" - I wonder how many 360 owners have spent less than that?
If you bought a $299 Core at launch and play online for 6 years, that’s $600 – and that means no rechargeable batteries, wireless controllers, hard drive, HD DVD, wifi, i.e. a far inferior experience.
If you didn’t get online, that means a $299 console and probably a meagre 30-40 hours of gaming combined from Gears 1 and 2, Halo 3/ODST and CoD 4/MW2

Which games did you like on the 360? If you like the looks of Killzone, I can guess you enjoyed playing Gears - in which case you should try out Uncharted 2, not because its so highly regarded but because its gameplay is close to Gears/Killzone in some aspects.

Ratchet ToD sold 2 million - twice as much as kameo or Banjo
The two resistance titles sold 2-3 million - broadly the same level as Bioshock and Mass Effect (on a lower base), and L4D sales were modestly better. Most probably, the much hyped Alan Wake and Splinter Cell will both struggle to sell more than 2-3 million.

PS3 owners should be grateful to Insomniac - whats significant is not that they are going multi-plat but rather that they supported the PS3 through difficult years with an unbelievable rate of one game every year. Resistance 1 was the outstanding exclusive in the first year, especially considering it was developed in barely a year; Ratchet (along with Uncharted) was the first kick in the teeth for those who claimed the PS3 is inferior and resistance 2’s coop is probably the most underrated ga...

Shooters do sell the most on PS3 – because they are the most popular genre, and offer the most options in multiplayer/co-op. The key difference is story-driven games, niche titles, and path-breaking, innovative titles by new developers ALSO sell well. LBP, Heavy Rain will sell > 2 million, a stealth and story-heavy game like MGS4 sold 6 million. Even niche RPGs like Demon’s souls and Valkyria are closing on 1 million now.

Bottomline is – don’t worry about Modnations. If th...

Week 1 sales worldwide: Uncharted 30k, Ratchet ToD 70k and LBP 110k

Cumulative sales so far? Uncharted close to 3 million (more than Mass Effect or Bioshock on the 360), Ratchet 2 million (double or more of Kameo or Banjo) and LBP close to 4 million (only Gears, CoD, GTA and Halo have sold more on 360 - all shooters, all mega franchises)

PS3 owners are not dumb sheep who blindly go out and buy the latest generic shooter (Halo or CoD typically) but if you are ...

I am a bit confused - did Polyphony announce that GT5 was to be released in 2008?
Polyphony's stance was always that they would polish this game to perfection, no matter how long it takes. Maybe if they were willing to stoop to Bungie's standards and release a sub-par 640p generic title with no improvements over the previous title, GT5 would have been out in 2008.

Maybe they will invite Insomniac to E3 and make it their big announcement. Just like MGS and FF13 the years before. Its a bit sad really, they are down to maybe 2-3 exclusive developers now? And its interesting really that Resistance and ratchet score much higher in reviews than the much hyped and expensive Alan Wake and Splinter Cell - well deserved too, amazing franchises both and hoping for some exciting R3 news at E3.

Its a bit like watching Owen in a ManU shirt or Figo in a Madrid shirt - they are so closely associated with the PS
Most PS3 owners would wish them well on their multiplat project, because they are regarded with so much respect and affection by their fanbase.

Most 360 owners would hardly care that they are developing for their console, because of all the negative reviews on Insomniac games and because all they know about is Halo. Well, believe it or not, you are in fo...

I am sure Sony would love to buy them out and make them 1st party, but they always wanted to remain independent, so fair enough And maybe they will teach EA some tricks on using the PS3 architecture as well

I am happy they have gone partly multiplat. At least finally they will get some recognition for their great games, it will be interesting to compare reviews for their forthcoming PS3 exclusive and multiplatform games, I would predict at least 5 points lower average scores ...

Tomb Raider was not exclusive, it came out on Saturn as well as PC. Sony did sign exclusivity for Tomb Raider 2 for 3 years, but the developers had already dropped support for the Saturn
In any case, the big franchises were MGS and FF – and both moved because only the PS could support their developer’s vision, because Nintendo refused to move to a disc-based system. Signs of the wii vs PS3, with Nintendo more interested in making money than a system that is acceptable to developers. ...

On top of which, Mass Effect and Bioshock combined sold less than half as much on XBOX360 as Halo 3 - and both are so far superior to halo. (That statement should cost me a bubble)
