I would agree with the article that they should be out with something more than a bare-bones demo based on a nearlier build. I am growing increasingly sceptical about what's ging on at Polyphony to be honest. I think they are a bit too desperate to outdo themselves which is a mistake. Hope we get a demo in March!
I am not talking about THE racing sim (GT5). I am talking about damage in arcade-sims: Grid, NFS Shift and the #3 in its category, Forza
Would be interesting to see how much they have changed the physics engine. They need to take care of a few things by the time GT5 comes out
- car AI: not just a bunch of cars running in a line
- Damage: if only to shut up the 3rd best arcade-sim franchise
- Online: Needs to be the best, just to keep up with the rest of the game
Graphics, car physics, content - have no concerns on those fronts.
graphics: R2 is better
Content: R2 has fresh 60-player online maps, 8-player coop and twice the single player length of ODST
Story: average on both
Gameplay: spray and pray, generic shooting on both
KZ2 >> R2 (except for the coop) > ODST

So reviewers have finally come into the open on what we knew long back, the 360 is not just poorly made, with a 30% defect rate, it doesnt only overcharges for everything from hard drive to online - its also a piece of garbage compared to the PS3's superior cell based arch...
Actually there is:
- the best AI in any shooter game
- a really good use of first person cover that works great in combating the enemy AI
- a very tactical multiplayer where you have to work with your team and the terrain to survive as opposed to the Halo/CoD twitch shooting
- Superb implementation of muliple stages and classes within the multi(done before, but never as well)
- a heavy feel to movement which adds to the importance of tactics and realism over refl...
To be honest - I have hardly played the DMC series and this one. But I havent seen a single review that explains why a game that is just an evolution of DMC, the same gameplay with a 2-button scheme being the only deviation, inferior graphics and the same failings (the laughable story for instance) is supposed to be near perfect, whereas DMC4 was just a low-80s game?
And its intriguing, after all those reviews of KZ2 and Ratchet "generic" "nothing new" etc gam...
The biggest problem for the 360 is - is there anyone who cares for Halo and Gears and has not bought it already? All the Halo fans lined up in 2006 and 2007 to buy this console, but the other just dont care for them, Halo1 was revolutionary in so many ways, but now the series offers nothing that Resistance, Call of Duty, BFBC dont do better. And Gears is Uncharted 2 - but minus the story, puzzles, platforming, add tank controls, unbalanced weapons, cliched macho "heroes", multiplaye...
Must say I thought Crazy Ken is a nutter, actually, he probably is, but Uncharted 2 and Killzone 2 convinced me he is also a visionary, what a monster machine

I cant believe this is a kotaku article. Whats next, GT5 getting a 10/10 from EDGE for trampling Forza into the dust or killzone 3 getting a 10 from Eurogamer for changing the face of FPS gaming forever?
I guess the difference is that multiplats look marginally better on the 360, which hardly anyone would notice on most games, where in case of exclusives the PS3 is so superior, its difficult to believe the 360 even belongs to the same generation. Try comparing L4D2, Halo ODST to Killzone 2 or Uncharted 2, or Forza 2/3 (doesnt matter which one, practially the same) to GT5 or even GT5P.
And another thing which doesnt get picked up is that resolution / AA is just part of the whole ...
I dont agree with the high scores for this game, but I am glad because its a Sega game, few other companies have made so many great games (especially during Dreamcast as well as in the last 2 years), yet they always stumble in the market. I hope this sells lots of copies, we need creative companies like Sega or we will end up with the likes of Modern warfare and L4D. Hope some more people buy Valkyria as well, great RPG (and I dont even like RPGs, but still found it to be a brilliant game)
Have you tried Resistance 2? Worth it for just the coop
Simple question - how is this better than DMC? Same kind of gameplay, same average story and same level of graphics. So if DMC was mid-80s in Metacritic and 8/10 from Edge, why is this such a great game and 10/10 from EDGE?

Interestign how Edge gave Bayonetta a 10 – because they gave DMC an 8, which from what I gather was very similar (as its made by the same creator) – the gameplay is practically the same, doesn’t seem to have any superiority in graphics or story either. Those guys are getting ready for a 6/10 for GoW3
Dont worry about Uncharted 2, the first one sold 2.5m, the second one has already sold close to 2 million and will easily hit 4-5m. The real question is about Mass Effect - with a likely budget of 2-3x Uncharted and 10 times LBP, it got outsold by both those titles. In the more competitive Q1 2010 market, they probably wont sell even 2 million. We will see how long it remains exclusive after such a heavy loss.
