Well, he probably is right about Unreal - when Gears first came out, the engine was cutting edge but now its just old. Good graphics and very flexible (I was amazed that even Batman was built on that engine) but much inferior to KZ2/UC2/GoW3. The reason Splinter Cell doesn't look so good is because of Unreal.
Though from what I hear, the next version of Unreal should be an improvement, not sure if the 360 can handle it. The thing is, can you name one game after Gears which makes...
Was AVP released way before Heavy Rain? Mzaybe it has more days of sales. And besides the number refers to 360, even Lost Planet sold 2 million on that console.

Though no FF fan, I am happy to see some real fans stand up for this game, so much negativity - its a well made, good-looking game with a good story and a good combat engine, why do people expect it to change the world and cure cancer?

Well, to put that in context, UC2 playtime was 15 hours on single-player (because I suck at games, not becuase its that long) and maybe 50-60hrs on multiplayer
Which is why I think we should NOT talk about length in hours, because it inherently forces developers to emphasise multi over single player (the CoD syndrome) - and most gamers would hate to see that, I am sure many of us enjoy a well developed single player, and how many multiplayer games do you need anyway?
Second game for which Edge would have dearly loved to score low but didnt have the guts to do so, simply because they would have become a laughing stock

The wii ads showing a large mass of people having a wii party are a lie. I cant think of a single gamer who has a session like that, out of the 5 wii owners I know personally, 3 don’t use their console at all, and the other 2 use it for occasional single-player gaming.
The only instances I have seen of couch coop is with racing and shooter games, 2 players at a time, being played by gamers who wouldnt touch the wii
Now get your act together and get some copies in the market. The 2 HMVs and Game outlet nearby were all out of stock last week!
Well, that should be almost as entertaining as the game - seeing them trying to justify a 6/10, or if they chicken out on seeing the other reviews and give it a higher score, to read through the review and all the teeth-gnashing behind it.
They miss the point don’t they?
Its widely accepted that the combat engine in GoW is not as good as DMC or Ninja Gaiden. But that’s not what makes it great – its like saying GTA shooting andd driving mechanics are inferior.
What makes GoW special is the combination of great story, characters and the setting.
