The siege mode is actually just a variant of the coop survival mode - it just forces players to stick together, which is exactly the way survival should be played, though unfortunately in survival once in a while you find two players who run to opposite ends of the map and I spend the entire session running from one to other reviving the two idiots! So siege is just a way of taking out that element.

Reading the article
"it turns out that the update actually removed The Lab playlist and double cash features. The update has also added a few bugs"
So, it wipes out two temporary, weekend items and introduces bugs which they will no doubt take care of. Annoying, I agree, but how does that equate to taking out features?

"nobody even enjoys it anymore."
What do you need to enjoy it? Host advantage? Lag? Game-breaking glitches? Imbalan...

Montrealien - I think their next patch was supposed to fix load times?
And anyone who penalizes you for that comment would be a jerk, there is nothing wrong with honest criticism.

Well, seems like E3 all over again
Sony has 10-15 cracking exclusives, but all of them get revealed well before E3 again
Nintendo comes with about two games called Zela or mario, which is exactly the same as the last title with non-existent story and get scored 98/100 by review mags which then score Insomniac's next game 8/10 for lacking innovation
MS has a bare cupboard with possibly another Halo or Forza game, but they manage to steal some Sony 3rd party exclusiv...

nycredude - it seems like graphics are not this game's strong point, so maybe just buy depending on whether you like mkb or gamepad. I guess that gaming laptop will be useful to run Crysis in all its glory!

Nobody hyped Demon's souls, Valkyria, MAG or Uncharted. Good games will sell over their lifetime through word of mouth and gamer networks.

The way I plan things, is to buy niche titles like these and exchange them back for blockbuster, highly marketed games which sell milions anyway. Once I am done with this, for instance, will exchange back for RDR.

I guess if you liked Mass Effect or Deus Ex, this is a must buy. Despite the modest score, this looks like a must-buy if you like action-RPGs with a spy thriller slant to it.

"insane levels of customisation and a thumping near-future dose of espionage and sinister conspiracy"
That sounds like fun. One of those games where gameplay is indeed far more important than graphics.

"where the bad guys are occasionally good, the good guys invar...

Frankly, keep Gears on the 360. After playing Uncharted, Gears is too much of a step down in every respect - gameplay, graphics, storytelling, and UC2 is not even as glitchy and laggy despite using similar P2P. Besides, Gears 3 will be the same as Gears 2, UC3 will be miles ahead of UC2.

My three fave Uncharted scenes
1 The view from the cliff at the fort in UC1, where you can see across the bay, sunlight and water never looked as good in real life
2 The view from the top of the building in Nepal in UC2, where you can for miles around you
3 When the train turns a bend high up in the mountains (middle of the train level in UC2) and I seriously stopped caring about the enemies and just gawked at the sheer jaw-dropping beauty of the environment

I bought it for something like £350 I think. Of course it launched later here in UK, at typical elevated prices that we get here.

It’s a bit interesting to see the reaction.
Most PS3 fans don’t mind insomniac going multiplat, despite its long association with PS – maybe because of all the support and the great games in the intial years of PS3
Most 360 fans, on the other hand, don’t seem to care much even though Insomniac games have better rating than high-budget, hyped games such as Alan Wake or Splinter Cell.

I think this is just a sly way of taking revenge on the xbox-loving fanatics at Kotaku.
"This is what you are missing out on. Now go back to Halo and weep!"

Its not too bad, takes a bit of time to adjust. I used to switch between Resistance 2 and KZ2 sessions pretty easily, and not a hardcore gamer, so yeah you can do it. The multiplayer is really good, and the AI in single-player is the best I have ever seen. Worth trying, should be cheap as well now.

Halo committed suicide - its just another generic shooter now, devoid of inspiration or innovation

Imagine, an GTA4 where the graphics are the same as for GTA:SA, the gameplay is the same, there is no online, there are large segments that are simply lifted from GTA:SA and instead of an involved story yand characters you have Niko Belic trying to rescue a kidnapped princess by getting past an army of turtles. Now imagine GTA4 getting average scores close to 100. You right, it is sad.

I think Sony should bring out a wii standard game for the PS3 – 480p graphics with minimal physics and effects and last gen animation, half baked online and laughable story or characters, just to see what kind of review scores they get. It will be quite funny, really.

Its analog.
As soon as it was invented, most games moved over to analog within 2-3 years (maybe less), whereas the majority of games in this gen will continue to run on dual analog rather than motion controls.
The biggest advantage of motion controls is accuracy, but if you are used to a gamepad and with the aim assists most shooter games have, that doesnt matter.
